Kings hand over papers to Taylor group:

Actually, the Maloofs apparently turned down Samueli's offer of a loan several weeks ago. Didn't want to risk losing their controlling interest, I'm sure. They want a better deal somewhere, but not at that risk, is my guess.

Well the problem is you don't hear about any other locations than Anaheim.

I'd like to find out if Taylor might have any plans to get CalPERS involved in financing a new arena...beings they're the most viable company in our region.

But why would they want to go to a LA market where they would be a third fiddle? Also, why would they go to an arena that isn't much older than Arco itself. It doesn't add up to me what goes on in their brains.

I'm starting to think that the Maloofs are financially borked and Anaheim is the only place that may give them the perfect deal that they want. Also, they may want to transition from having to rely on regular fan support to being able to get by on luxury box profits and not having to worry about drawing a full house.

I think this scam sonsored building will start selling out long before any arena could possibly be built. In other words waiting a couple years will show whether or not the fans will support a better team - the ones the Maloofs promised us. The Honda Center has been there a long time. It was known the team would be bad for several years. Sucking was a necessary part to get the draft choices that are part of a good rebuild.

Why did this suddenly become such a rush? Nothing happened that was unexpected. Was waiting a couple years too much to ask?

During the rebuild, the team is so lousy people don't want to watch it so the attendance is down; one of the reasons the NBA accepts as a reason to leave. So the Maloofs have a reason to leave. The grating part of tthis is that poor attendance was the price to pay to rebuid the team. The team sucks because of a good rebuilding strategy approved by the Maloofs. The team also sucks so bad that the team can leave and someone else can reap the benefits of the rebuild. Is there something fishy? I hope not.

Then there's the City. I'm surprised we kept a team here as long as we have considering they have been so uncooperative. I presume the city represents its citizens. It doesn't represent me or anyone else here. It doesn't represent the people that who will lose jobs. It doesn't represent the businesses that will suffer. That isn't mentioned. In the end, the city will pay the price. The renovation of downtown is officially over. Can you say "ooops!?"

Has anyone read about Power Balance? It's a scam supported by no scientific evidence. They call it holistic medicine. Is that what those pendants are for? To make me a better athlete. The writing was on the wall when they OK'd that scam inspired venture to sponsor our arena for the rest of the world to see. It's a big ad to show how naive we are. We think little pieces of metal will make us more athletic. I'd rather we were sponsored by the Cowbell Society of NorCal. Power Balance is a sham. Does that rub off on the city? Probably. We appear to be fools.

I'm tired, disorganized and done. DONE.

My guess is it's because Anaheim is the only one to make an even remotely acceptable offer to the Maloofs and Samueli is apparently very willing to negotiate terms to get the team. I also think the Maloofs were never going to go to places like Kansas City or Louisville and other places don't have a NBA arena, just like Sac (Seattle, for one).

I'm starting to think that the Maloofs are financially borked and Anaheim is the only place that may give them the perfect deal that they want.

I've wondered if their intent is to move then sell the team for an extra 100 mil. They seem to need the money for their other enterprises.

The Maloofs have stated they want to stay close to their Las Vegas business. KC, Lousiville etc is too far for that. And I don't think the Maloofs are really looking to move from one small market to another. Anaheim is the only big market that has an arena ready and is still close to Vegas.
