Kings free agency update from Grant......

Napear just said on his show that the Kings are still trying to trade Bibby and Artest and that because of Artest only making 7 mil a year you won't get true value in return if you trade Artest. He also said the Kings are talking with several players for the midlevel exception and that Morris Peterson is one of the guys they are looking at the 30 year old small forward out of Michigan State from the Raptors. He said Peterson wants to go to Utah, but that the Kings are in the running.

I do not understand why sign 30 yr olds that tie up valuable cap in the future when the goal is to rebuild and get younger? Eating up cap space hampers the rebuilding process.

He can play the 2 and the 3 and is a good outside shooter something we need and he can defend, although he did get lite up by Kobe for 81 last year lol. The Jazz,Heat,Cavs,Warriors, and Kings are all interested in MoPete.

Everyone on the team can't be 19-23 year olds. You need veteran presence in one form or another. We can't clog the roster w/ undrafted players.

Mo migh be a fit behind Garcia if we trade Artest.

At what cost? What will it do to our future cap situation?

funny you mention that, because it looks like we'll be stuck with Brad Miller and Kenny Thomas for the next couple years. they're pushing for $20 million of our total cap, and won't be off of it for a few more years. so let's add Mo to that for 4-5 years at $5 mil per.

unless a quality player comes on the market and is willing to except the MLE, then we should just save the money so that way it stays off of our books.

Why the heck do we want Mo Pete? This doesn't make any sense at all to me. He doesn't help us rebuild, he just adds to our salary, and he isn't really good enough to help us anyway? WTF.

No, you really don't at this stage of the rebuild. And certianly not at that position.

A Ron/Kevin/Cisco/Salmons/Douby rotation at the 2/3 last year mean that Cisco and Douby got largely squeezed and jammed to the end fo the bench. Kevin, Salmons and Ron got almost all of the minutes. Cisco got maybe 12-15. Douby none.

So, you trade Ron. Now all of a sudden there are minutes for Cisco and Douby -- woohoo! Young guys actually getting minutes! Cisco gets Ron's minutes. Douby gets Cisco's old minutes. And you see what you have in the young guys.

But why oh why oh WHY do you then immediately turn around and take those minutes right back away from the kids? Bring in a vet who is going to demand 25+ of Ron's 35+ minutes? You know, I think the Douby pick was stupid too, but apparently Geoff thinks it was so bad he's determined to never let him even see the floor, and instead to do what should be knownd as The McHale -- destroy your cap situation by signing a MLE veteran every single year until your entire rosteris composed of nothing but complete mediocrity attached to nearly unmoveable contracts.

Mo Pete's just a bad idea! you trade Artest for a decent big man and free up space at the SG/SF spots and we'll have a nice young rotation there. if we could trade Artest for a decent shot blocking, rebounding PF, then our front court doesn't look so horrible.

Unless John Salmons or Francisco Garcia are going with Arrest, this pickup would be horrendously stupid. Even if one of those guys was going with Artest, I STILL don't get why we would need Peterson. I really think Petrie hit his head a couple years back and we've been seeing the bad result ever since.

hopefully we trade john salmons and Bmiller for Kirilenko so he can play PF....

and just have Mo backing up Ron while cisco backs up bibby and this is where douby can get more burn at the backup SG spot

and hawes and jwill can share the CT spot

I'd much rather go into the season with Ron Artest or without him. but definatley not without Ron and with MoPete. That is utterly stupid decision making if it is true. The kind of decision that would make me not even get league pass.

LOL. Tell me why? All I need to know is why, and then maybe I can deal with it.

Morris Peterson?

So, when the Kings hopefully get good in 3 years he'll be 33?

And Petrie said he wants to develop a good young core?

I can only deal with so much absurdity.........

Brad Miller I don't mind, because he doen't create any "off court" issues or publically whines about his situation if he were to come off the bench. But I do think Miller is emotional and his play does get affected when we are losing.

But I wouldn't mind Brad sticking out his contract. Even if he came off the bench the last two seasons.
