Kings Fans Bee Ad

The reason why it was placed on the bottom is because the banner (picture) was longer. It made more sense to put it there with the three other small logos on top.

My original thought was to cut the banner in half but I wanted to include the entire thing.
You darn well know what my idea was. Get rid of the cluster **** of logos and leave room for words, a message to the Maloofs. Why'd you call me if you are going to ignore me?

If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. If you figured a few hundred people would dutifully fall in line then you need to grow up and roll with the punches. That's partially why I told you how old I am on the phone last night. Age gives something that youth has to wait for. I think you mislead me and I wasted a whole damn evening.

I think you DO need a break. Seriously. The work is done and the decision is in bigger hands.

Right now I feel like a Maloof.

I tried to do all I can to work with others in a common goal and instead I pee off a few folks.

To those I pissed off, I apologize.

I'm going to shut it down for a while and stay away from this board. Thanks.
Mike,

You have been the most inspirational champion of the Kings staying in Sacramento. I am in awe of your dedication and effort and believe if the Kings do in fact stay, a mural to you should grace a section of the concourse in the new arena.

You remind me very much of Jefferson Smith in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - fighting for the lost cause because those are the only ones worth fighting for. Your efforts have been nothing short of heroic and everyone on those board who has the slightest interest in keeping the Kings in Sacramento is deeply in your debt. Where others have brought words, wishes, curses or condemnation, you've brought action. If I knew nothing else about you, that would be enough.

It is very easy to sit on the sideline and launch criticism. But for you to take a stand and put yourself in the spotlight for your passion and your principles requires a courage I wish I had for myself.

Anyone who has attacked you for your efforts owes you a profound apology.

And I offer you my thanks and sincere hope you return to the fight soon undaunted.

Glenn. Maybe I am reading this wrong but I think you need to chill. Mike has played a HUGE....let me emphasize HUGE...part in a movement to keep the Kings in town. I, for one, am VERY appreciative of all of his efforts. How is age even relevant? Jesus...we are all on the same team here.

Yeah I mean Mike is friggin trying and he has done more than pretty much all of us. He has spent quite a bit of money out of his own pocket to do things to try to keep the Kings here. I mean come on guys, why are you mad at him about the logos? Yeah we would like a few more words, but if they can't get the overall message from what is there than they're either obtuse or they don't care. If we don't have any logos in there nobody will help us out, they will feel snubbed. Yeah members from KF.com contributed quite a bit, but it's not like any of us need to be advertised anyway. JiffyLube does business with the Kings to get their name out there and get advertising. Sure they like the Kings, but at the end of the day it's their bottom line and the reason they want to keep them here is it's good for business. Herewestay helped mike with the pictures of that 6 in front of Arco.

People are getting mad for no reason pretty much, or minor things, and one of the reasons we have been heard by a lot of people already as a fanbase is we stuck together. If we let our fan base be divided now and don't keep puting out effort, we will definitely lose our team. Stick together and learn to put your egos/opinions aside for the greater good.

Oh, and why do I owe an apology? Have I sat on the sidelines slinging mud at him? No! Have I donated? Yes? I donated twice. Have I written to the Mayor? Yes. Have I written to the Councilmen? Yes. Have I writtten to NBA owners? Yes. I'm the main one angry so direct your comments right at me. I appreciate what he did and don't appreciate what happened last night. I did what he said and it took me hours. i come back to the forum and see that his wife did it. Oopps!!

He didn't even respond to my email with a mockup of the ad.

Dasn't spoil this with outside ideas. I know what it is like to want all the credit. I just hope I don't step on people to attain my ends.

All that matters is that the ad looks good and it conveys the message we need it to. Not who did it. He has been overworked and stressed out about this thing for the past few months so just let it go dude. There is no reason to pee off someone who has put in hundreds of hours of their time and spent thousands of their own dollars on this stuff because his wife's photoshop skills slipped his mind. You are getting mad over something that's not a big deal. The ad looks great, and I realize you might feel like your time was wasted, but if the ad that's actually published has any impact at all then it worked and every minute anyone spent on this and every dollar people spent worked. That's what matters.

Frankly if I chilled, I would get nothing done. Should I have shut up on the original ad? Gee, Mike, you are great and I love that ad advertising the game. Boy am I happy with spending my money for that. Is that what I should have done? Chill? The original ad was awful. If it was his, that's too bad. If I was alone in my opinions, I might feel bad for pointing that out.

Go back and look at it. I am very clear on what Mike has done. It's been advertised enough. No small group of people will get anything done if someone doesn't have passion. He's got passion.

Yes, what does age and the experience that goes with it have to do with it? A tad of exoerience, maybe even experience with this kind of thing, a little more of life's knowledge. Do you know how many times I have gotten involved in things of similar (vaguely) nature? Does that have no value?

Look at basketball. Does experience play a role? Why is that? Why can a team with guys with 13 and 14 years experience and AGE make the Kings look like simple pawns in a game on their way to an NBA championship? Part of it is experience. Why do the Kings flounder? Some of it is lack of expoerience.

So what does age have to do with it? Perhaps nothing. I doubt it.

I won't chill. My opinions will be heard.

Glenn. I agree that the original ad was off-base. Prior to reading the comments on the thread, I was about to post an opinion very similar to your very own.

For someone that boasts their age and experience, I assumed that you would express your opinion with a tad bit more tact and maturity than you have. I think you are very confused. I completely agree with your stance. I just disagree with what appears to be a complete lack of respect for another member of this forum, and very strong supporter of our team and cause.

That being said, thank you for helping "correct" the ad and being a passionate kingsfan. You need to remember that we are all on the same team.

Mike, thank you for all the work you have put in to get this ad out and all the other things you have done. Every one here is bringing different skills to the table and yours have been very instrumental.

Glenn, you deserve credit for all that you have done as well and for speaking out when you thought the ad needed to be modified, because it did. From what I see, your ideas have been taken into consideration and this has turned into a collaboration.

From where I stand, no one person has been given all the credit to get this done. As a matter of fact, Mike has gone out of his way to try to make everyone happy, and you know that never ends up working. But the effort was there and I think he did what he felt was best for everyone. The last couple of weeks on the board has been everyone picking at each other, when the fact is we all have the same goal in mind. Would be nice if more people were like Mike and focused on how to get things done, rather than who can prove they are the better kings fan.

There IS a back story to this that you don't know but public perception wins over. Your complaints are legitimate. I know that. Not sure getting older calms a temper much. Hope it does for Cousins. I certainly understand we are all in the same boat and I am pretty jacked up about the Kings' status.

Oh, I can't help this so bear with me. I don't think age has anything to do with tact which you think goes along with maturity. In fact the "aged" are characterized as being tactless. So whatcha want? Age has more to do with knowledge and life's experiences. You can't experience life unless you've been around. I was part of the shrieking protesters of the Viet Nam War. Can't do that any more so I protest through words. If I could walk, I'd be with Mike.

Mike may jump into a car but as I can't, I write. I try to get attention. Sometimes it may be the wrong kind but I know I am not ignored. In the midst of the rantings is usually a point. Depends on what you wish to focus on. I am what I am and always have been.

Complete lack of respect? A more mature and experienced person :) would see that I have a lot of respect for Mike. Hell, he knows that. This is one point of departure and is more personal than public. There was a big miscommunication last night that wasn't all my fault. You can chose to see it any way you wish which is the norm of the forum. Certainly, I am not just angry because of an ad. I am angry at what surrounded the ad.

In any case, I agree except to the part of being confused. :) Not everyone who is older is confused. (I know you didn't mean that or hope you didn't mean that.)

OK, now that the jerk has redeemed himself to the point of semi-jerk with energy, listen to my interview of Israel Sports Radio.

Make some more opinions of me after hearing me in a 10 minute interview.

Top recording at the 86.30 minute mark.

My tongue wrapped itself around the uvula once but it's not as obvious as I thought. Not bad, actually. I'm surprised.

Mike. Don't apologize. You've done so much for this cause with a deadline approaching fast. You even fell behind on some of your work/personal life to get this thing going. Everyone here, including me, thanks you for your devotion. Don't let some people that don't agree with your work/ideas discourage you. Again, thanks for everything you've done!!

The people at Here We Stay are taking full credit for the ad. If I said more, I would seem ungrateful for spending my money on an ad to sponsor their game. If people are OK with that, you are different than I am. Maybe that's a good thing. Unfortunately after reading the notes on Facebook, it just gets more aggravating. Ignore me. I have no rights.

As to my ego, I am very satisfied with what I have done.

We did get the wording changed to make the focus on a message to the Maloofs to keep the Kings in Sac, which is the major consideration in my mind.

I'm with ya.

I don't understand the whole "sponsored by" notion. I'm not even asking for a "sponsored by kingsfans.com" or anything of that nature.
Writing a personal message and ending it with "Sincerely, the best fans in the world" , the way it's on the ad was more than enough to show who it's from.

Now, the sponsored by section takes up 1/4 of the limited ad space we begun with, while on a 1/4 page ad in the newspaper the already small text will look even smaller.

But, it's done with now.

I don't think there's a need to be divisive when so much is at stake - it's like we're councilmembers or something. There will certainly be more frustrations in the upcoming weeks, that's for sure, but what binds us is a common goal to keep the Kings in Sacramento, and as long as that remains our goal, then it seems foolish to try and derail that effort. Personally, I hope there will be more successes than frustrations, but while a lot of it is out of our hands, the community is clearly doing what it can, and I admire Sacramentans for that. You are not sitting idly by.

Regardless of how it (the ad) began, the end result is a fantastic one which definitely shows some collaborative ideas, and one that conveys a message that needs to be said.

I disagree in general and specifically I disagree that anyone is trying to derail this effort. The effort about this ad, the subject of the thread, is over for this moment.

I personally think three people were used and unless you donated money and effort it seems like maybe you have nothing to say. We are friends I hope even so. I have received too many PMs that disagree with your kumbaya moment. If money wasn't involved, it might be different.

I'm not going to come back after tonight so there will be no more devisiveness, if that's what you think I am contributing, on a forum built for arguing. Not from me. I've had it, respect my position or not, but some of you will be grateful not to hear from me anymore I suspect. Mike cannot be reached and said when we last shared messages that he's taking time off for awhile. I fully support that he take a rest. I suspect he's at the ragged edge.

The problem going on in the background, not publically where it would be more devisive, bothers me. A lot. In away, it is unfortunate the full devisiveness isn't in the open. There are questions and no answers. I happen to be the messenger.

I look forward to seeing the ad in the Bee. The Facebook people think the original ad was placed and Mike was at the Bee at 4 PM yesterday with something.

I believe he had an opportunity to change the ad if he got their by 7 AM this morning and I hope he did so.

____________

Let me add that perhaps the moment for opposing views (not divisiveness) should occur BECAUSE so much is at stake. One person cannot simply say "this is so now do it." That means the President, you, me or anyone. When it is done at the 11th hour, mistakes can be made because of a minor sense of panic. When I saw that first ad, I had a minor moment of something and I thought I was respectful about my objections.

Rainmaker and I have posted notes on Here We Stay Facebook informing the people that the design of the ad was redone to express our love of the Kings and that we personalized it to the Maloofs. We also mentioned KingsFans.com folks paid 2/3 of the money.

Those notes were deleted and because I knew I was enemy territoty, the people whose ad we paid for and designed, I was very respectful. Yes, I can be respectful. So was rainmaker. He just asked questions.

Apparently the Here We Stay crowd do not tolerate questions about what they are doing.

DAMN!!!!! How do you feel now, Spike?

I have just been kicked off the HereWeStay Facebook site. I guess I am not a member anymore and perhaps should get my money back. Let HereWeStay pay for their ad.

Divisive, thy name is HereWeStay.

I can see how you feel that way Glenn but I just think you're going a little over the top with all this.

KF.com didn't have enough money to pay for the ad, so Mike had to take on collaborators who had selfish agendas. It isn't like we had a steering committee or anything to properly say eff off to HereWeStay or JiffyLube (would have been my vote).

But... Mike is a literal hero in my mind for seeing this through, even though he had to make a faustian deal to get it done. In reality there are hardly even any more lurkers on the kings fan sites anyway - the crowd has surrendered and dispersed. So to pull together pledges, to gather the actual cash, and beat the deadline... and in VERY GOOD HUMOR endure a lot of last minute wordsmithing from so many folks..

Well MIKE I SAY HERE'S TO YA!!!

Glenn, I understand why you're miffed but lets not cut off our nose to spite our face - lets get through April on the high road the best we can.
