[KINGS] Comments that don't warrant their own thread (2025-26)

Four Kings have foot injuries, all at the same time: Westbrook, Hayes, Clifford, Plowden.

Maybe they need to reconsider their footgear. The athletic trainer should have a say in what they wear, if this is the result.

I heard investigations are underway to determine if the old Indian burial ground ARCO Arena was built on top of has been relocated to the Golden One Center basement...

Looking at the kings finances for next season, I could really see a scenario where the kings are perfectly ok with not getting a top draft pick. Wouldn’t that high draft pick put the kings over the 1st apron? Especially considering there is talk of having DDR back on the team next year. Ill bet that the kings trade back for 2 late 1st rounders.

you may be correct to focus on trading down

but if i understand the market, if you had the number three pick and traded down just to #5, you would get a future first. then, if you traded down again, say from five to nine, you'd get at LEAST another #1. it all depends on IF you get a top three AND who is there for you at 3, 5 or 9.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is at least considered if the pick falls outside of the top 3. But, seeing how top-heavy the draft is, I don't see a scenario where the Kings trade out of a top 3 pick.

If we have 3 and we trade to 9 I will call and give up my season tickets right there. The NBA plays 5 people at a time. Except 1-2 outliers, NBa champions have had a top 5 player and usually two top 15. The chance of getting that at 9 are infinitesimal. (You would be shocked at how many different ways I tried to spell that word)

The last time Kings were considered championship contenders (about a quarter century ago), they were lead by a #1 pick (Chris Webber) and supported by a #2 pick (Mike Bibby). You may get value at a lower pick but we are in dire need of top level talent. Right now, we have a 52% change of getting a pick between 5-8. If luck shines and we get a Top 4 pick, don't do anything stupid like trading down.

Btw, Ringer released a Top 100 players ranking today and the only King on that list was DeRozan at #91. Did Sabonis retire?

naturally, trading down would depend on #1 where you finished in the lottery and #2 what players that you really loved were still on the board when your time came.

someone said the draft was top heavy - others have said you can get a building block in the first ten choices, unlike say, keegan's draft when there were only three really, really good players and then it was a crapshoot, depending on what you wanted and who you liked.

the kings took keegan because he was assured of having an "nba future". sharpe would have been a better pick, but a bigger gamble.

in that draft, i'd have started by telling detroit that i was going to select ivey unless they gave me something and then i WOULD have drafted ivey if detroit didn't offer enough and traded him (essentially trading down) to a number (#6? #7?) where i could also get a future first. and (depending on how much i liked the guy who they were going to draft for me at six or seven), i might trade down again (in THAT draft, if i could have traded down for a future #1 AND sharpe, i'd stopped there and gambled on him.

but, just as often happens, i think we can say that in THAT draft, those three players SHOULD have been selected in the order of sharpe, keegan, ivey (with other players in between). (btw, markelle fultz just signed a ten day with i think the bulls).

so, in THIS draft, i assumed that we MIGHT start at number three IF so, trade down to number five (for a future number one) and then again to number nine (for more future considerations).

naturally if THE guy you WANT is NOT taken first or second, you probably USE your pick and hope you are right.

But let's say the two guys who fit that "must have" designation for our "brain trust" (and i do use those words lightly) ARE selected one and two. Maybe you can get a guy you like just as much at five or nine as at three.

And of course you have to take into account the fixed salary scale for rookie draftees. It might be nice if someone assembled a list of pick numbers WITH three (or is it four) year rookie contracts that picks at each number would sign and that number would be counted against the cap for each year of the deal. I believe wemby's rookie deal STARTED at slightly over 10 million per.

Can’t we just buy out Derozan he’ll he should’ve been bought it last month. If we luck into a top three pick I can only pray we still get rid of Sabonis and the rest of the bugs instead of pushing for the play in which will result in not getting talent added on for our new franchise guy

Our family is off to see the Stockton Kings playoff game tonight against the Rip City Remix. At least we can unabashedly cheer for our team to win without feeling guilty about it!

Jeffries and PBJ off to good starts and the Kings started the game on a 20-2 run!

Kings looked disjointed in the third and couldn’t buy a basket. They gave back most of the lead and are only up 2 (76-74) at the start of the fourth.
Kings get their act together and pull away in the 4th to make it to the conference finals!
