Hall of Famer
I will be "out of town" and without internet over the weekend. I will be unable to start the thread for the Houston game. It would be nice if someone else would do it for me. It can't be that hard.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
On April 7th 2002 Kings beat Knicks116-82 to improve to 57-19 for the season. At that time Knicks already sucked but it did not really matter because at that time Kings ruled. 8 Kings scored in double figures and noone played more that 30 minutes. Webber had 16/14/7, Vlade had 14/8/3bl,Pedja had 13/3assists,3steals, Mike had 12/6assists, DC had 10/2/8/6st. Bobby and Hedo had 15/4 each and Scott had 12/9. Even Mateen and Chucky scored. Only guy that didn't was GW who played 20 minutes but was 0-9 from the field. Knicks did not know what hit them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings @ 39 - 37 bounced back in a big way after a Dallas disaster to hold off the opponents for the final spot on the PO in the Western conference. Kings are 25-21 vs West and 14-16 vs East. Who would have thought ? With 6 games to go Kings need 3 wins for yet another winning season. As for the 8th spot - Knogs will host Hornets and a win will take care of everything
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Despite last night and the night before, I would still prefer mavs in the first round. It is very simple. Spurs know how to win. Mavs don't. What happened last night will not make Spurs worry. it will not make them think about us more. it doesn't mean that we can beat them in the best of 7 series. It doesn't even mean that they won't sweep us because they can. What it means is that we know and they know that they can be beaten. Also - they know that we "exist" and that we won't go down without fight. It isn't much yet but it counts for something.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron Artest (1), called out a teammate on National television. 2 ways to look at it. He didn't say anything that isn't true or that we didn't know. Mike can't defend and that isn't "rocket science." Ron sure can and not only for himself but also for other teammates too. in a way Ron has earned the "right" to say something like that. On the other hand - it is something You generally don't need to do in public regardless of how innocent it really was or how well meant it was. Not very professional by any standard.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron Artest (2) has been givin comments about referees. Can someone put some duct tape over his mouth and fast. We have bigger things going on these days. Mr Stern wouldn't pass up an opportunity to punish Ron if one is given. So don't give him one. BTW, I agree with Ron - the refs suck and they will get worse in the POs. There is nothing we can do about it. We just have to go out and play.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron Artest (3) has a heuge target on his head. it is getting pathetic. obviously, Ron has "earned" it but give me a break will You ? He gets fouled - refs yet again blew the call and then when Ron had a natural/mild reaction - they gave him a technical foul. WTF ? If that was a technical - some very prominent players would never finish the game - ever. I am just sick of double standards. How about - a ref makes a correct call and none of it happenes. When Ron asked them about it - he got no response whatsoever. Appearently, as a player - You can't show emotions but as a ref You can suck all day, every day.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not a great award nigh tonight. the TDM award went to B Barry who had 9 (4-6)/4/4/1 bl in 24 minutes. Not a big deal reall which was another reason for our victory. LW-VC award will be given to 3 different Spurs (because I can - so sue me). Manu Ginobili has become a property of Ron Artest. It was probably the worst game that he has had against us in a long, long time. he just never mattered. Robert horry finally sucked against us. He had 2 pts and a rebound. . Finally, Bruce Bowen deserves a LW-VC award for everything he has done against kings in the past. In any normal situation this guy would foul out in the first quarter of every game.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winning in San Antonio is as good as it gets. It is totaly trrelevand how well Spurs played, wheather it was "back to back" ot wheeather we hit everything we shot. It is as big road victory as You can get in the NBA these days. We played well for 48 minutes on both ends of the floor. we dominate dthe glass, we shared the ball we outplayed them, outworked them. It was beautiful thing to watch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was trying to think rationaly about the Clippers game. Lust trying to cover all angles. they are a good team - the best in LA. they beat Suns easily last night. They have Brand who is really playing well. They are well coached. Also every streak ends at some point - right ? after all that -I dismissed all of it and decided to go with one that is proven. KINGS OWN CLIPPERS.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - bounced back as it was expected. How much does this man have left after a milage that he traveled this season.
Ron - we need stronger pills now more than ever
Brad - finally didn't look bad against the Spurs. Caveman is waiting.
Bonzi - WOW
SAR - he loves to play Spurs but we need more consistancy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin - not rusty anymore. good road game
KT - played fairly smart. At least he didn't shoot.
hart - when he came in - it was the only chance that spurs had.
Cisco - hope that he will be able to play on a pre-injury level soon.
The Rest - Mateen
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
RA - his teams always bounce back after a embarassing performance.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clippers - the usual. Caveman and Vlad will go crazy. Brand will play well. Golumn is golumn. TDM award will go to Ross and LW-Vc award will go to Mobley./ Kings will continue to own clippers.

I may be at the game!! A bunch of friends are coming down to L.A., and I'm driving up from San Diego. They're all going, and hopefully they'll get me a ticket.

Just for the record, I was at the last Kings-Clips game, and we won.

On one hand, we do own the Clippers, Artest or no Artest...

...but something in my gut reminds me that it would be just so "Kingish" of them to blow this game after feeling proud of themselves for beating the Spurs.

This is a tough road game against a tough competitor.

Kings will have their hands full, even with our history agains the clips.

Okay, you are on venom_7. Just don't forget to start it sometime Saturday. We like to start commenting early. ;)

the Kings will take the game by 9162347619 points. I wish Brand is on our side because he butchered the Spurs singlehandedly. GET THAT BRAND! NOBODY CARES FOR GARNETT NOW!

This is going to be a hard game for our guys to win. Hopefully they are confident and that spurs game gives us some momentum, but I think the clippers will want to break our winning streak vs them and get some revenge. They owned PHX the other day.

I want the lakers to stay in 7th. As much as I dont want to play the spurs, I would rather play them over the suns. I dont know if you have been watching, but we almost always get our *** handed to us against fast pace teams.

edit: yeah, I just changed my mind, I would rather play the suns. I thought about it for a second, and really that last game was just a fluke. Plus I looked at how the teams are playing, and the suns, not so go.

We've beaten the Suns twice already though, and they're struggling badly now. I doubt the Spurs are afraid of us, or anybody.

In all honesty, I am NERVOUS about tonight's game.

It is NOT uncommon at all for us to have a HUGE letdown after a BIG win.

With so much talk about how badly we beat teh Clippers, they will be out for blood.

Statistically, it is time for us to lose to them.

The Lakers lost. We have NOT tended to take advantage of that this year.

THe Hornets are playing the Raptors. We might as well go ahead and give the W to NOK, which means we MUST win to stay 2 games up. Again, have not really helped ourselves much in situations like this.

This game is VERY important, as are all of the games we have left. I just do not have a good feeling about tonight's game. I REALLY HOPE THAT I AM WRONG.

I just keep repeating Piksi's "We own the Clippers" as my mantra for the day!

kings go 7seed

Even if that did happen, I'm not sure but I think that the Kings still wouldn't be in 7th seed because the Lakers have a head-to-head tie breaker.

No, the Kings have the tiebreaker with the Lakers, I'm pretty sure. NBA.com website says conference record is the tiebreaker (after head-to-head), but I just read that teh league said that is wrong and division record is first. Either way the Kings have the tiebreaker. Division or conference.

Kings win
Lakers lose

Kings in 7th. Book it. :)

P.S. - A big thank you to Denver for taking the Lakers to overtime.
