ASB is garbage
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well in 2003 Kings already beat Celtics on this day. Kings won 105 - 83 to improve to 38 - 18 for the season. Kings played without Webber but it didn't really matter. It was just another case of an Eastern conference team showing up at ARCO and getting their behind kicked. Kings were better in pretty much all categories. Clark: lead Kings with 18/9/4/2st DC had 18/8/9/3st, Vlade had 16/5/2/2st, Pedja had 12/9/2/2st, and Bibby had 12/4/2. Hedo had 10/7/2 off the bench.

Keon Clark and Vlade Divac took advantage of the Boston Celtics' suspect front line. Clark and Divac both found little resistance on the inside as the Sacramento Kings rolled to a 105-83 rout of the Celtics. The 6-11 Clark and 7-1 Divac combined for 34 points while going 14-of-18 from the floor. Clark netted 18 points and Divac 16.

"We tried to force them to double-team us inside and if they didn't, we knew we could go 1-on-1 and get to the basket," Divac said. "Overall, it was a good performance. We reacted well to their defense."

"The guys are hitting shots," Christie said. "I think we're really trying to make a concerted effort to push the ball up the court so we're putting pressure on the defense, getting them in a bad position. Luckily, I've been finding guys and they've been knocking down shots."

"When you are on the road with one of the best playing teams in the business you have to keep it close. And we didn't do a good job of doing that, especially in the third quarter when we had a chance to make a run," Pierce said. "But you just have to tip your hats to them. They executed well, they really passed the ball well and they defend."

----------------------------------------------------------------

Kings continue to be an elevator team losing 3 straight after winning 5 games before that. At 22-29 Kings are still in striking distance being only 2.5 games behind the 8th PO spot. Kings will stop that losing streak by beating Boston before going on a 4 game in 5 nights East coast road trip. Kings are 4-3 in February hoping that they can end up with .500 record. Also trading deadline is coming up so this week will be very interesting and hopefully something will happen.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
ASB is over. Is it me or are those weekends getting worse every year ? If the Barkley vs Bavetta showdown was the highlight of the weekend - that tells You everything right there. Charles won in his own arrogant way but I don't mind. I have no love for Dickie B whatsoever. Bulls got disqualified in that shooting competition. How can You cheat in front of the whole world and pretend like You are totally shocked afterwards ? No one is that dumb - right ? The best dunker won and if it wasn't for the time limitation - Robinson would still be there together with Anderson who would be there from the previous years. Rookie vs Sophomores was like a high school team vs NBA team. The real game was boring. Eastern conference should be indefinitely suspended. All in all - thank god that it is over and we can go beck to good old "almost winning"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trade deadline approaching and so far nothing really happened. every team seams to be happy enough with what they have because they seam to be unwilling to take risks. Contenders think that they have enough. Bottom feeders are looking forward to the draft and other 15 teams like to be mediocre enough to chase the "imaginary" PO spot so that they can say how close they were or how they will build on it for the next year with the same group of mediocre players who maybe if things go great can give You 5-10 more wins getting You to the position of upper mediocre vs bottom mediocre where the word mediocre obviously still defines the situation. Something will definitely happen in the next couple days simply because some of the GMs will panic and do something stupid. However most of the trades will be "garbage for garbage" kind. I hope that we stay away from those because we obviously suck at recycling.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Never understood why people call the time after the ASB - the 2nd half of the season. We already played 51/82 games. 31 games left is not a half and I for one am very relieved that that is a case. We only have to suffer trough 31 more games and Muss gets to be blamed 31 more time. We are 31 more game away from "summer" which might be more interesting then this "never-ending" season. I do predict double digits of "almost wins" before the suffering is over.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
While the NBA had a great weekend - Muss was working hard preparing for the rest of his career - ups I meant season. Here are soem of books that he was reading.

As You can see - he should be ready and we should be very afraid.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Players didn't waste any time either. They made their agents read them following books

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Additionally, I had some books to recommend for us fans fut I can only import 4 images max.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last week - it was mentioned that the Hornets game might be Biibby's last in Kings uniform. Doesn't look that way right now but who knows what might happen in the next hours. We will deal with that when/if it happens. The way Mike has been playing - it just can't happen soon enough. If it happens - we should be able to "forget" this season in his career and keep the memories of all great and not so great moments that we had privilege to enjoy with that extraordinary group of players. Mike has given us a lot over the years just like every other player from that group and he should be respected for that.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to the Bee, Miller is questionable, KT is AWOL, Muss is optimistic based on practice and players still are trying to get into the post season. Nice to see that things are back to normal and that everything is in control. I am not sure who is in charge of this lunacy and I don't even care. I just want it to stop.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coach's corner - shouldn't we have a coach first before having this segment ? Anyways - he was lost again. The team was so scared from the half time presentation that they started to suck before the half time and obviously continued it after the break too. We didn't exist all night long. Muss can't do anything right. He can't even get technical during the game.
Here is what happened.

Muss knocking on the door of the ref's locker room
Muss: "Can I come in for a second ?"
Joe Forte opening the door:" sure come on in - we have been waiting for You - we really need those towels."
Muss: "What towels?"
Joe Forte:"Well the towels that we requested and some more Gatorade"
Muss: "um, excuse me but I am the coach of the Kings"
Joe Forte: " good one, but come one we need those towels. The break is almost over"
Muss almost crying: "guys I am serious - I am the coach and I would like to ask You a question - if You will allow me."
Joe Forte being very irritated: " A quick one"
Muss: " Thanks, let me just turn on the my power point presentation for a second"
Joe Forte while pushing Muss out of the door and closing it: " A power-what ??? You got Yourself a T for mocking the officials. Now get out and get us towels and some Gatorade"
Muss: " Oh come on ! What did I do ? - looking lost "Damn, where was my locker room again?"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings took an extra day off before the ASB. Unfortunately, for us - we played Hornets that night. It must have been great to be a Hornets fan that night. We wouldn't know. Chandler had one more rebound than KT, SAR and Artest combined. No Kings player had more than 5 rebounds. It was the easiest win for the Hornets all season long. Kings didn't care much.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM goes to D Brown and why not. We always take pride i giving equal opportunity to every scrub in the NBA
LW-VC award was hard to give because there were so many candidates and all of them played for the Kings. SAR deserves it the most because he did nothing for the whole 29 minutes.
JHA award went to KT. 17 minutes 2 pts, 3 TOs 4 fouls and the previous record just gave me no choice
Muss: DNC - IOP ("illegal operation" on power point"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Celtics are next and it should be a blowout despite the fact that Kings are perfectly capable of losing this one. Boston just doesn't really need any wins and we are apparently still in the PO hunt. We might miss Brad and KT which gives Garcia an opportunity to play some minutes as center. Is anyone really looking forward to this game ? I could care less.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - can he score double digits without jacking up 20 shots ?
Kevin - hopefully he got some rest
Brad - get well soon but don't hurry back
Ron - just feed the dogs
Corliss - been 3rd best Kings player this season
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
rest - mateen
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - expect the unexpected and be prepared to watch something else
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Celtics suck but they are young and on their way to a superstar compared to us who just suck and are not going anywhere.Pierce will have a nice battle with Ron. Jefferson will have a field trip and so will West. Green will have plenty opportunities to give us an encore. Even Wally might have a good game. When all is said and done - Kings will win a game but Celtics will be the winners.

Nah, as much as I'd like to say we're going to win this game...I'm leaning towards another road loss. Pierce/Jefferson should have decent nights...Bibby should have a status quo night. Bottom line: another loss.

Boston is at home Circa.

And they are godawful. If we were to lose this one, at the deadline they should just trade the whole damn franchise to Boise for the rest of the season.

and then they could play all their games on the 'smurf turf':D

edit: and yes, the C's are godawful at home...but they werent THAT bad before Pierce went down, though.

Yeah they were a .400 team before Pierce got hurt, just like us... Honestly I can see us losing this one. They have an athletic front line that blocks shots and can score in the post. They have some decent and quick PGs who will roast Bibby on D and he doesn't seem to play offense anymore either. Artest has no help if Piece gets past him. The only position where we have a clear advantage is in the backcourt and that's only if Bibby plays like he did before this season.

Ok, in case there was any misunderstanding, and rereading it I think there could be -- we are playing Boston AT ARCO. We are at home. Only home game in this stretch, but its largely a gimme. There is no team so bad we can't find a way to lose to them, but you are home against the team with the worst record in the league. If you aren't going to win that one, they should just automatically award you Oden out of sympathy.

Why is everybody saying Boston is at home, they are gonna be here in Sac on Tues, the thread title also says Kings @ Celtics...am i missing something?

EDIT

Bricklayer got it off before me, lol i thought i was losing my mind or something.

ah...well with THAT being said...I definetely think we're going to lose.:D You just dont know what Kings team you're going to get from night to night...and that makes for a very aloof feeling, I think, from fans that have been there through losing seasons before. That's probably the best way to keep your sanity, as a Kings fan.

They have been awful and the Kings barely squeeked out a victory the last time they met. Pierce is now added to the equation. Bibby always gets abused by their point guard. Kings could be without Miller and Thomas. Celtics have better frontcourt even when the Kings frontcourt is healthy. Celtics win tonight.

I still say we should trade the entire franchise right now for the Bobcats.

That being the case - complete fantasy of course - by all means throw this one!

Wow I just realized how bad we really are. We have 2 awards for which 1 of our players sucked the most during a game...

and this was post number 3000 :D

Once again it was worth the wait, piksi...

Will we find a way to beat up the humbled Celtics? Or, against nearly impossible odds, will we be able to steal defeat right out from under victory's nose?

If this does end up being Mike Bibby's last game as a King, I hope it's a good one.

BTW Piksi I haven't decided whether this team doesn't deserve you, or whether you are exactly what they deserve. And I would add a wink here except that I too am restricted to 4 pictures, even if they be smiley icons.

Great intro Piksi! :D

Mike doesn't belong here anymore. All the old ties are severed.

I really have to disagree with this comment.

Mike doesn't fit as well as he did before, but that's because we have the frontcourt from hell. I strongly believe that an upgrade at the 4/5 would be a vast boost for Mike at the 1.

Well, that's what I mean. For us to be successful AND keep Mike, we have to accomodate him. He doesn't fit in with this team. Whether or not we upgrade the frontcourt.

It's not accomodating Mike that matters. It's finding a decent 4/5. If we do that, then Bibby is gonna be a lot more important. And I do think we're gonna find the better frontcourt...

Just a repeat of my programming note of a few days ago: Alien 51 is currently available On Demand on the Starz channel. If this one gets too ugly, cue Alien 51 up -- it may be powerful enough to restore in you a desperate desire to watch the Kings instead!

Either that, or you the Kings may cause you to hav e astrong desire to run over to imdb and give Alien 51 a 10.

Since I watch a lot of games, I am always prepared: huge "B" movie collection.

Tonight's contenders: Battlefield Earth, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and Space Mutiny. And I have many, many more in reserve.

No Gigli or Kazaam, though. Only Boston or Philly fans need those.

How about Waterworld, Postman, Simon Sez, Rollerball, Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever
Swept away, From Justin to Kelly, Adventure of Pluto Nash, Zoom, Catwomen
