Cavs fans seem to like Gibson but I have no idea why.
A couple of posters on that site actually said he was the deal breaker and they didn't want to give him up

So apparently this trade was actually being discussed but fell through....
...But it seems like Petrie is going into quick fix mode rather then a blowup...
...Great

Pretty big leap of assumption cliff there...
And one, I think, is totally without merit. Not every trade rumor that comes along or is posted somewhere actually has a basis in fact.
Hmmm...Could you try to be a little bit more condescending next time? Thanks.
Anyways, this one has been confirmed by inside sources on several cavs boards, and was on a local radio station there that apparently has been right about these things in the past.
Yes, those are the types of sources that require a grain of salt with the info they release...But there's no reason to entirely rule it out either. And I happen to make a hobby of jumping off the assumption cliff when there's no real news and the team stinks...Passes the time you know?
And nbrans, Justin so IS the next Ben Wallace![]()

I can't really see this deal happening. I suppose Hughes would fit into the new "versatility" movement where we have guys who can run the floor and slash, but that contract isn't good and you're only going to get him for 60 games a year. Gooden has perhaps the lowest basketball IQ in the NBA and Cavs fans seem to like Gibson but I have no idea why. Bibby/Thomas for this package would be a smart move. Bibby/Artest would be horrible.
Ugh...I still wouldn't do it. there is very little on the Cavs that is desireable for us outside of LeBron and MAYBE Varejao(but they ask too much for him).
I think it's the Justin Williams effect -- they're as desperate for a point guard as we are for a big man, so if you squint right and let your mind wander into dreamland and ignore the reality in front of you, Daniel Gibson looks like the next Bob Cousy and Justin Williams looks like the next Ben Wallace.
if it can somehow get us Varejao, and possibly a draft pick, then no. we keep our mouths shut!reading some of the posts on that cavs board about this... they seem to think bibby is a stud defender. not sure why. shouldn't someone set them straight?![]()

Bibby is decent as a defender. He just leaves his man to much to double. Why he is always the one to double down on the bigs is beyond me. He is to short to make a difference and it ends up giving his man a head start to the lane or an open 3.
If by decent you mean the worst defending point guard in the NBA.... then yeah.
So true...Bibby gets torched more often than a (insert bad pun here).
He did manage to stay in front of Foye down the stretch last night so maybe there is hope yet.
Except that Salmons was guarding Foye during the crucial stretch where he turned it over twice.
Well he actually did stay in front of him at least one time...He tried to penetrate, and had to back off, then tried again, and again couldn't make the rim.
He also drew a charge, which could have been completly wild-luck.
