Kings/Cavs Blockbuster Trade Rumor

G-League
Word around the campfire is Ferry is in talks with Sacramento as we speak. Their talking Gibson, Gooden and Hughes for Artest and Bibby. Heard it on Roda. I guess Artest would love to play with Lebron, and we know he wants out of Sac-town. I would hate to part with Gibson, but adding Artist and Bibby to Lebron Andy and Z would make us instant title contenders. This trade would be HUGE.

what do you guys think of this? Looks like Gary's source might be right.

On paper I like it...until I see that Larry Hughes has a freaking 13M a year contract for the next THREE YEARS!!!!

UGH. There goes our FA money when Bibby opts out. That's just too much money for him - he is too injury prone. Plus, we don't get rid of Kenny/Brad.

It would at least give us a little excitement.

Can the Kings throw in Shareef and Martin as well...we'd love to take back Eric Snow and Donyell Marshall. We're just the charitable types around here!!!

Ga'll that's fricking AWFUL!

And those Cavs fans are crazy thinking we'd do this. Absolutely CRAZY.

What would our line up be? Then we have no PG we can play and too many SG? Not sure I haven't worked it out. Two rookie PGs (Dooby, Gibson) another in his second year (Price) and another that has too many problems with the team (Hart).

Who play SG? Martin or Hughes? Does one of them move to SF?

We would lack an experienced PG, but that could be just what we need to tank the rest of the season and hopefully get a Top 3 pick. I actually really liked Gibson in college...I think he could step in right away and be serviceable. He would have his bad nights, to be sure...but oh well. At least he would try hard. Not sure about his defense.

That is a very favorable review of his game, offensively and defensively.

PG: Gibson/Price
SG: Martin/Douby
SF: Hughes/Garcia
PF: Gooden/SAR/Kenny
C: Miller/Williams

???

I guess you could also run at times with:

PG: Hughes
SG: Martin
SF: Corliss/Garcia
PF: Gooden
C: Miller

No don't even think about it...this deal is WORSE than the C-Webb deal and he had a bum knee and was owed 80 Million dollars.

Sorry for being stupid but who the f--- is Gibson and how does he become our starting Point Guard???

I just ran it throught he ESPN trade Machine and it does work and I know the Kings brass are big fans of Larry Hughes but that contract is pretty huge

Take out Artest and put in K9 and I'd consdier it.

Larry Hughes is not very good...He never has, ad still can't, shoot from anywhere coming in at a whoping 40% and 67% from the line...Which isn't to different from his career 41%...And he is a 6-5 shooting guard...You think we're outmatched on defense now? Trading your best defender for a SG who you will plug in a SF will not solve anything.

I like Gooden, but he isn't needed on this team...He will get a double-double every night, but he doesn't give you defense, and is a softy...With SAR and K9 it would be pretty redundant and pointless.

And who is Daniel Gibson?

For Bibby and Artest...No chance...Thats a terrible trade...I don't even know how much I like it with just Bibby and Thomas.

Just say no to trades that don't bring in the bigs we need, ending contracts, young guys, or draft picks.

Or the Cavs could just throw LeBron to change my mind!

:D

Not if it's Bibby and Artest.

Artest is still a really good player.

Bibby...Not so much.

No I was commenting on my proposed deal of removing Bibby from the equation and putting K9 in his spot. The only reason I did it that way is because we need to have a PG. If you trade away Bibby and don't get one in return we have NO PG that the coaching staff is willing to play.

Gad, I hope we can do better than that for Bibby and Artest.

Makes no sense to me to bring in Gooden and not get rid of one of our power forwards. If Kenny is poison now ...

No that's not...it's STUPID. It's made up anyways...the deal that was actually discussed was Bibby/Thomas/Douby for Marshall, Snow, Pollard, Gooden and AV.

Cavs rejected it though.

I would have rejected that if I was the Cavs as well.

wow, i know we need some big men, but that's insane. although, i love AV

This trade is only possible if the Kings:
1.) have Hart, Douby, Price, or Gibson ready to step up as PG
2.) ...maybe bench Martin for Hughes or have Salmons play point SF
3.) buy cheerleader uniforms for SAR and Thomas for the next few years

If this trade does happen the Maloof should stop blaming Adelman for everything and fire Isiah Thomas (Petrie). No mas!

heres to hoping we don t end up trading with the cavs, atleast not solely. The only guys im interested in from cleveland are Pavlovic, Ilgauskas, and of course James. And its a hunch but the last 2 guys I mentioned I dont think are going to be traded. What would make me feel real good about this trade is if Petrie came out and said in no way is this going to happen.

I can't really see this deal happening. I suppose Hughes would fit into the new "versatility" movement where we have guys who can run the floor and slash, but that contract isn't good and you're only going to get him for 60 games a year. Gooden has perhaps the lowest basketball IQ in the NBA and Cavs fans seem to like Gibson but I have no idea why. Bibby/Thomas for this package would be a smart move. Bibby/Artest would be horrible.

My thoughts exactly, I don't believe this for a second.

ain't gonna happen. unless the maloofs truly believe this trade is going to bring us back into the playoff hunt... i dont see it happening. besides, what does this trade do for us? handcuff us to more contracts? bleed talent for less talent? the trade doesn't make sense for us

The trade looks like the dream of a Cavs fan.

Nothing realistic in that scenario at all.

Did someone actually say to bench Martin for Hughes???! Are you serious?

Hughes is averaging 14 points a game, shooting 40%, 29% from three, and 68% free throws!

Unbelievable.

So apparently this trade was actually being discussed but fell through....

...But it seems like Petrie is going into quick fix mode rather then a blowup...

...Great
