piksi is out on an excused absence ;) so we need someone else to step up and fill the gap.

Who will it be? Who thinks they can "piksi" an intro for the game discussion thread?

Name's vytzka

Okay, give me an hour and I'll show you something. However I'm not that well versed in classical Kings history. So I either do 2002 victory against Philly which is our only victory in this day that is still remembered by nba.com archive. Or somebody else gives a guest history lesson. Or you just give me a year and box score and I'll make up the quotes myself (might be either funny or lame so it's your risk). Your call.

-edit-

I guess I'll manage the history part too. The recap seems to give enough information for that.

TONIGHT! WE DINE! IN CLEVELAND!
------------------------------------
On March 13 2002 Kings narrowly beat then-still-actually-good Sixers 92:88 on their own Wachovia turf, improving to 46-17 record for the season, winning the third game in a row on a five game road trip (deja vu anyone?) and sweeping 76ers for the first time since 96-97 season. In a close game Kings were trailing most of it, at one point by 14, and entered the fourth quarter with a five point deficit, but managed to prevail at the end. Despite dislocating his finger late at the first quarter, Webber scored 11 points in the fourth quarter and finished with 22/10/3/2. Pedja had 21/5/2/2bl, Bibby 12/3/7/1/1, Christie 11/7/3/2 and Vlade 10/9/7/2/3. Bobby led the bench with 8/7/1/2 and Pollard added 2/6/3bl.

Chris Webber had a big fourth quarter and gave the Sacramento Kings a big road win. Webber scored 11 of his 22 points in the final period, helping the Kings rally for a 92-88 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers that kept them perfect on their road trip.

"I give my teammates credit," said Webber, who also pulled down 10 rebounds. "When people believe in you more than you believe in yourself, you can go. I did want to take it upon myself to be aggressive. I had my team in my ear yelling, 'Come on. This is what big dreams are made of,' and all this stuff. All the cliches worked today. They got me going."

"We defended them pretty well as the game went on. It's a big win for us to come in here against a team that's been playing pretty well," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "We've got three in a row on the road and now we'll see if we can got one tomorrow (in New York)."

"It was the mental that we've been looking for on the road," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "We took each possession. We wanted to make stops. In the fourth, you've got to make stops and you want to get the ball each time. We made some nice plays. Different guys just stepped up. It was really a good win for us."

------------------------------------
If You are one of the "tank" side of the barricades, Kings gave You plenty to rejoice about on Sunday night as we got embarrassed in ARCO by Denver Nuggets for whom the stars were finally right and they managed to field both AI and Anthony in the same court and against Kings. After a nice start where we led by ten Muss didn't manage to wait until halftime and broke out the kool-aid then and there. The results were devastating - Nugs went out on an insane run and Kings were basically buried before halftime. Bibby was the only person in purple and white who managed to hit any shots whatsoever. Guess that calling your teammates Kevin 'The Goose' Martin and Brad 'The Hillbily' Miller will do that to them.
------------------------------------
Linas Kleiza caught fire during Lithuanian Intependance Day evening game in a blinding fashion. Denver reserve scored career high 24 points, while going 4-7 from the three point line and sparking a couple of key runs. And believe me when I say that this is a sign of things to come. He played power forward in Missouri most of the time, now he can not only play the three and hit shots from downtown, but even play guard position and burn holes in Kevin Martin. Linas is going to be an All-Star and you've first heard it here.
------------------------------------
On the other hand if you're one of us playoff pipe dream chasers (and we have enough dreams for everyone), Sunday night had to hurt. Instead of taking over Nuggets' 8th place in the standings we were thrown back where we stood, and Warriors, who owned Dallas in an exquisite fashion last night, are now either breathing down our necks or already in front of us, depending on in what exact way does the NBA's insane tiebreaker system work. And I'll be glad if you keep the phrase "that must be some new meaning of 'work' that I'm unaware of" to yourselves, thank you very much. Oh well, it was fun to be out of the last place in the Pacific for a while. It welcomes us back now, and better hope that it missed us, because we sure as heck DIDN'T miss it.
------------------------------------
Jason Hart is finally a free bird, but he didn't manage to fly too far and landed in the Clipper land. Oh well, I hope he has as good a season as possible (which is not very) and at least somewhat help to play Lakers. Because that's one of the few times that Kings fans sincerely root for the Clips.
------------------------------------
Coaches corner sponsored by Jagermeister, Old Spice and catnip folk medicine. I don't even know what to say so I'll just say that he managed to outcoach himself. Is that hard? Or is that easy? I have no idea but problems like this definitely makes me appreciate the effort of piksi even more.
Is that possible? Oh come on, not again.

AWARD TIME
TDM - I have a riddle for You. What starts with L and ends with inas Kleiza? Yeah, that's the guy.
LW-VC award goes to SAR, though he had plenty of competition this time around.
------------------------------------
So we play in Cleveland tonight and it might or might not be ugly. For several years before the last one Cavs had exhibited a pecular tendency to break down towards the end of the season, and this is a high time for this tendency to return again. Ilgauskas seems down lately but can at least block shots which is more than we can say about our starting point center. Gooden and Marshall on the other hand are bad defenders and SAR could take them to school on their side of the court at least, until they let out Varejao (who is basically a larger and floppier version of Cisco with more hair). It would be nice if we could somehow meld Corliss and Kenny into some sort of Cornny PF hybrid who could both score and rebound. That would be fun to watch and help us feel what other NBA teams are used to.
At the three Artest will have his hands full of LeBron while his obvious wilingness to take it back to the fake King can only spell (hopefully only localized) DOOM to the real ones. On the guard front however, Cavs don't have two of Hughes so he'll only be able to shut down one of Bibby or Martin at best. I expect him to cover Bibby at point, which will leave Kevin free to burn the face off Sasha Pavlovic. Expect at least one of our guards to get 30+.
------------------------------------
Mike - can You do it when it actually matters?
Kevin - okay, 'The Goose' was a joke, can You get back to play now? Pretty please? With sugar on top?
RonRon - the ball is not made of glue, You know
Kenny - keep it up
Miller - say hi to Z
------------------------------------
Rest - mateen
------------------------------------
Muss - please try to get to the halftime before getting the kool-aid out. Flavour of the day - Spartan.
------------------------------------
Anderson Varejao gets TDM, put this one in the books. I don't know of LW-WC but I have a hunch it will be Big Z or Larry rather than one of our own guys. Forget about James, not gonna happen.
------------------------------------
In the end, somehow, Kings prevail.

You may just see ALOT of purple in the stands tonight. Closest Game for all the ZANESVILLE FANS and I am pretty sure that almost all of ZANESVILLE will be there tonight. Its about a 2 1/2 hour drive from what we like to call Da Ville :) ..So keep your eyes open because I know that Kevin wants to give his hometown a good showing!!!

Nice job, vytzka!!

:)

Note: There are a lot of Zanesville residents in attendance at tonight's game so don't be surprised if you hear more cheering for Kevin that you'd expect on the road.

GO KINGS!!!

Confirmation: Lebron James out due to back spasms... or the 100 Zanesville fans in attendance to root for Martin.

:p
