Kings buzz
Bulls reunion
By Joe Davidson -- Bee Staff Writer

When Eddy Curry was drafted as one of the "Baby Bulls" five seasons ago, Brad Miller was a Chicago teammate who got the chance to size up the beefy center in practice.

"I know some of his tricks," said Miller, now of the Kings, before the game.
He knew enough to draw two offensive fouls Sunday on Curry, now starting for the Knicks. On the second one, in the third period, Curry was so irate, he drew a technical foul. Curry, however, reveled in the final say, with the Knicks earning their first victory and Curry outscoring and outrebounding Miller 16 and eight to 11 and four.

Porter in the house
Terry Porter watched the action from the baseline, though he'd much prefer to be coaching somewhere. The former Kings assistant lasted just one season with the Milwaukee Bucks as head coach. He was dismissed despite management insisting after last season that he was on safe ground. He can only groan at the roster the Bucks have now, including newcomers Bobby Simmons, Andrew Bogut and a healthy T.J. Ford.

Tickets, please
Matt Barnes fetched 40 tickets for family and friends, thanks in part to two former teammates in Miller and Mike Bibby, who gave him a total of 14 tickets. "Saved me a lot of hassle and money," said Barnes, a Del Campo High School product. "I was also able to eat dinner with my parents and do some laundry." Ah, the joys of Mom and Dad and someone else folding your clothes.

901 and counting
Del Enos has been there for every Kings home game since the franchise moved to Sacramento in 1985 as part of the Kings' statistical crew. The short math reads 883 games at Arco (preseason, regular season and postseason) and 18 additional preseason venues that were Kings "home" games, including Redding, Fresno, Stockton, Davis, Marysville and Yuba City (most coming in the 1980s). The only "home" game misses for Enos?
"A game in Japan and one in China," he said. "Couldn't drive there."

Shot of the night
Trevor Ariza's leaning three-pointer from 29 feet at the first-period buzzer.

Sunday's telling question
A Knicks fan behind press row upon hearing a chorus of boos from the Arco faithful, "Why are you booing your team? I thought these were the best fans in the NBA."

------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey, guess what Knicks fan? We are the best fans in the NBA and all we ask in return is that our team show a little effort, a little focus, a little interest in what's going on. We haven't seen much of that lately - and we demand and deserve better.

Players have to know what their fans think about their latest awful playing! As soon as they remember which amblem they wear on their jerseys and for which fans they are playing they will start to play better.Until then BOOO!:D

We are the best fans!

What is a good fan? One that cheers when there is really no reason to cheer? Thats called enabling!

Interesting. Kings fans now sound exactly like Knicks fans. In any case, what made Kings fans special was EXACTLY that they used to cheer all the time, win or lose. They'd cheer with their team down 20 just to try to bring them back. Now its a much more average environment -- the team needs to get the fans involved, not the other way around.

Its interesting that Porter was in the audience, given that he is one of the most logical candidates to take over for Rick if a move is made (as a Rick disciple). However Davidson might want to come onto the board full of lunatics to get his facts straight before submitting his articles to a major metropolitan newspaper: Porter lasted TWO years in Milwaulkee. Not one. Dear Joe: since I know you read the board occasionally, I'll be happy to proof read for you next time. ;)

Sorry, but I disagree. I NEVER think that it is right to boo your team. NEVER. I may not applaud or cheer, but I DO NOT beleive in booing them. There are other ways to let them know you are not happy. Booing does NOT do anything to make them play better. My opinion. Take it for what it is worth.

Booo!

The Arco faithful can still be the best fans in the league - they've just grown up. Yes, we've come to expect a level of excellence from this franchise, and no we're not going to sit there and cheer while we are embarrassed by perennial losers.

And another thing - I used to go to every single Kings game and I cheered like crazy even when they sucked (which was most nights). Now that it costs me $250 to go to a game I can only go to two or three a year and if the Kings are playing like crap I'm going to be pissed - and you can bet your *** I won't be cheering.

I'm a fan first but when I'm at the games I'm a customer. I don't mind seeing the Kings lose but I DO mind seeing them get blown out at home by the New York Knicks.

What are these "other ways?"

There will always be some fans - and God bless them - who will never boo. I actually was one of them. Now, however, I can see the frustration, etc. that would lead to a "Boo" under some circumstances.

As QueensFan said, prices have continued to sky-rocket while the product on the floor has become subject to recall. That's not cool - and it's a slap in the face to the fans who have been part of the Arco faithful for so long. Not winning a game isn't the problem. Not playing with even a modicum of focus or interest IS. If the players are going to accept those types of salaries, I want to AT LEAST see some effort. What I've seen lately - with one notable exception - is a textbook example of what lack of effort really means.

No wonder the organization went out of its way to try and convince us how great we are.

I've gone on many tirades (probably a few here) about the evils of boo-ing the team you profess to root for.

This season, however? All the "Gold Standard" crap alone is probably worthy of a few lozenge inducing displays of displeasure.

This lack of effort thing bothers me. I normally detest people who boo their own team -- consider it as selfish as the jerk in the restaraunt who screams at the waiter because he doesn't like his food. Never, never, never would I boo somebody as long as their giving it their all. Incompetent that that all might be. But lack of hustle and effort...now you're beginning to get on my nerves. As some of the highest paid professionals in the world that is the very LEAST thing that can be expected out of them by the people who pay their salaries. And just as somebody who has repeatedly (and often stupidly) shown his willingness to dive all over asphalt courts in bleeping pickup games, to watch guys getting paid millions of dollars play like complete wusses is a bit hard to stomach. It would test my no-boo policy.

Just give us a bleeping effort guys. Win or lose.

Ok,maybe Boo isn't crucial word. But if you let players to play like this,it will bring us into a disaster.Fans are those who watch them, basketball can't be played in an empty Arena so...just let them know that they give us a hard time with their lack of effort.

I agree. I've gone on record many times saying how counterproductive booing is, and how bad it is for the team. However, that was back when the team was playing with heart and determination, even if the execution was sometimes lacking. This team, well, if they can't show some effort ... it's hard to say that booing is uncalled for. At this point, I am prouder of the 49ers than the Kings. Not that the 49ers are a good team, or that they are winning, but at least they look like they care out there.
