Hall of Famer

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
On March 14th 1999 Kings beat Lakers @ ARCO 105-101 to improve 10-12 for the season. It was a first time that Kings faced Lakers in Adelman era. Kings rode on bench mob which outscored Lakers subs 35-18 to offset Kobe & Shaq 62 points. JWill lead the Kings with 21/4/5, Webber had 19/11/4/2bl, TAW had 15/4/1/2st, Vlade had 7/8/5/3st. Pedja had 17/6/3/2st and Funderburke had 10/6/2/1 off the bench.
Rookie Jason Williams scored 21 points and sank three big free throws down the stretch as the Sacramento Kings held on for a 105-101 victory that snapped a 10-game winning streak for the Lakers, who lost for the first time in the Kurt Rambis-Dennis Rodman era.
"(Rodman's) not being here had nothing to do with whether we won or lost tonight," Rambis said. "I don't feel he let us down, absolutely not. We allowed the Kings to get way too many opportunites. We lost because of my inexperience as a head coach. It's my fault. I wasn't able to get the team to do what I needed them to do."
"I love taking those shots," Wiliams said. "That's what makes the game so (much) fun. I just took my time. I wasn't nervous. I mean, if I miss it, I miss it but if I make it, it's all good." "I didn't even realize he wasn't here and I could really care less," said Sacramento coach Rick Adelman. "This was the best game of the year for us. I was really proud of how the guys responded for a full 48 minutes. We got big contributions from a number of people. That's the type of effort we're going to have to get to beat the better teams at home and tonight was a good start."
"We hadn't played well recently and so I was glad that we came out tonight with an attitude that if it goes in, it goes in," said Webber. "But if not, then we're still gonna play hard. This was a big confidence builder but if we go to Golden State (tomorrow) and lose, then this is for nothing."
"We had to come out and play and simply do what the coach asks us to do," added Williams. "The sky is still the limit for us. We just need to keep our heads on straight and we'll be OK."
---------------------------------------------------------------
Kings increased their losing streak to 3 games by losing to a solid euroleague team in NBA uniforms and dropped to 28-35 for the season which is still only 1 game away from the 8th PO spot and the prospect of playing the Mavs which makes the 9th spot look like a mercy killing. Kings started this 5 games in 7 nights road trip the worst way possible and now a back to back game is coming up against a very good home team. We laso never won there at least against the Bobcats.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is another issue of the "where are they now" segment and i\I am going to expand it to "where are they now when we need them the most." If Rick Adelman was a mediocre coach - Muss would make him look like a "hall of famer." - not that RA would ever need Muss to make him look good. As far as we know RA is somewhere around Portland at home waiting for a good situation to come up and it eventually will. RA as a coach has won 754 games with a winning % of .610 despite 2 seasons with Warriors. His 395-229 record (.633) as a Kings coach will stand for a long, long time. His PO record of 34-35 isn't great but considering so many bad breaks - not too bad. In his 16 seasons as a head coach - he made post season only 14 times
. Doesn't take a genius to realize that Muss would need several lifetimes to get there. On the other hand - Muss is unbeaten in the PO in his career. RA was replaced to develop more defensive mentality. It is working great as You can see. Recently we completely shut sown the Lebronless Cavs limiting them to only 124 pts. And if RA wasn't as classy as he is an "I told You so" would be deserved.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Could have", "would have", "should have" - who the hell cares ? Kings had a chance in the last 2 games to make statement in terms of their PO hopes and aspirations. And they did but it just came out differently. Instead of - " nothing will stop us" it is "please god let other teams lose more !" We really have no business wasting the television time and embarrassing ourselves 4 straight times at the end of April. If it was possible I would vote off the Kings and let Warriors deal with the Mavs. No one really knows what the hell is going on with that team.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
And the only reason that we are still very close to the POs is the fact that the team that we are trailing has Jason Hart playing major minutes. He is finally contributing for us and he will continue to do so until he drops a triple double on Mike Bibby the next time we face the Clippers (we all know - he will). NBA is turning into a big circus and we are one of it's best clowns. It is a small line between being goos and sucking. Unfortunately way down on that scale is much shorter than the way up.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
When life gives You lemons - You make lemonade or something like that. Still 19 games left and things can change but I have been thinking about making our own award ceremony at the end of season. I am not sure about format or way to do it so if You have a suggestions - I am all for it. Here is what I have so far:
MVP candidates - Atkins, Barbosa, Lee, Moore, Boykins
3 all NBA teams
Guards: Brever, Atkins, Ellis, Murray, A Parker, Buckner, Harris, Barbosa, McLeod, Arroyo, S Stoudamire, Giricek, Roy, Dixon, Head, Delonte West, House, Boykins, D Brown, Harris, Mason, Webster, McKie, Pavlovic, Carrol, Felton
Forwards: Deng, Kapono, Carney, Diogu, Burke, Lee, Cook, Mo Peterson, Kleiza, Granger, Bonner, Newble
Centers: Biedrins, Oberto, Haywood, Kaman, Wilcox, Mutombo, Moore.
(more candidates probably to come)
The MIP, 6th and ROY would also come out this pool + whomever else comes in the next 19 games
let me know - what You think - other than the fact that there are too many guards.

For some unexplained reason - it is a good transition towards the coach's corner which is sponsored by Raid, Lysol and Hot Shot. Muss is back to making sure that we won't make the post season because he likes the fact that he never lost a PO game. I wouldn't even know to begin with what he did wrong from the point that he turned on the power point before the game until the final buzzer. To sum it all up. He is our "coach'.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cavs lead by the MVP Ira Newble and hall of famer Sasha Pavlovic as expected blew us up but we did hold them to 124 points. We didn't exist. "Z" almost had a triple doubleThat is all.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME
TDM went to Pavlovic who had a career game. Newble was equaly good.
LW-VC is split by Bibby/Martin
JH-KT award is split by Corliss and of course KT
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Bobcats are next and we have never beaten them in Charlote. I don't think that we will be able to match their energy in the 3rd quarter. If we keep the game in low 110 region - it actually might end up in a honorable loss which is all we can hope in the back to back sequence.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - he should be an agent for all the players he helped get better contracts by not guarding them . At least he would get some percentage
Ron - strange how we have a hard time winning with him
Brad - If You are going to get killed by Brezec anyways - at least give us a double double
-------------------------------------------------------------
Rest - mateen
------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - kool aid flavor of the day - just pick one and the result will be the same.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bobcats will play hard because they know - they can win this game. Wallace will bring it. Carrol will win the TDM and Felton might make it a "race" LW-VC will go to a Kings big man. JH-KT award imminent. I wouldn't bet on us tonight.
