Kings - Blazers (Pretty Simple)

Starter
Kings deal:
Andres Nocioni and #5 overall selection

Blazers deal:
Greg Oden and Fernandez or Bayless

Why for the Kings - We get a defensive, rebounding oriented Center who's value could be at an all-time low due to injuries. This is the ultimate buy low situation that could change the franchise's fortunes around. A Hawes/Oden duo at the 5 would be very complementary and an interesting fit moving forward. Both Fernandez or Bayless would be nice fits next to Tyreke. I presume the Blazers would rather part with Rudy as he's expressed desires to go over to Europe leaving the Blazers with zero compensation if that's the case.

Why for the Blazers - Having re-signed Camby and having Pryzbilla as the back-up, Oden makes the most sense to move as he does hold the most value of the 3 and is also the most injury prone as well(which is saying something). Getting a top 5 pick in return and a veteran combo forward would go a long way to shoring up the Blazers roster to compete at a high level next year. The #5 pick could be used on either Cousins or Monroe and give the Blazers that extra big man they've been look for at the 4 spot.

New rosters:

Blazers -

C: Camby, Pryzbilla
PF: Aldridge, Monroe
SF: Batum, Nocioni
SG: Roy, Webster
PG: Miller, Bayless

Kings:
C: Oden, Hawes
PF: Landry, Thompson
SF: Greene, Casspi
SG: Garcia, Fernandez
PG: Evans, Beno

I think both teams come out smelling like roses after this deal.

The issue though is that this deal hinges on the Blazers thinking that Monroe (or whoever they'd be targeting with the 5th pick) is not only better value than Oden AND Fernandez but so much better that they'd take on Noc's salary to get that player. And in your scenario they'd be drafting a player who would backup one of their bes players.

Honestly, what's the motivation for Portland to trade Oden? His rookie deal is affordable even if he doesn't contribute much and if he ever reaches anywhere near the potential he had when drafted then they'd kick themselves for giving him away for so little.

I concur, what's in it for Portland? If Oden lives up to his potential then the Blazers will never live this down. Plus, if I'm Paul Allen I'll never let a lameduck GM make such a controversial deal.

If Cousins is off the board then I'm all for it, but just don't see why Portland will.
