[Game] Kings at Rockets 12/14/10 Game Thread

It is a bad combonation of poor coaching and even poorer effort by the players. This team doesnt believe in either the coaching staff or themselves. Something has got to give! This is not an NBA caliber team! WTF are we watching? It looks like a CBA team against a VERY Mediocre Rockets team VERY SAD.

Does anyone else want to see change? The Coaching staff is obviously not getting through to this group They need to either make wholesale changes to the team, or make wholesale changes to the coaching staff. This entire year is going to be full of half assed efforts by the players who dont believe they can win as a unit and a coaching staff that is simply pushing ALL the wrong buttons to try and fix the problem. They might as well play the young players and get them some much needed experience. Wining games is no longer a priority for this team. It was meant to be a rebuilding year AGAIN! I dont know how many more REBUILDING years I can stand, Other teams have gone from terrible to great and back to terrible in the time the Kings have languished in the muck of mediocrity and filth, This team has no allstars, they do not have one player on their team that you can clearly say is the best at his position in the league. They treat teamwork as a chore to be put up with, There is NO camaraderie amongst this group. You dont see any of these players even acting like they can stand each other. The Chemistry on this team is HORRIBLE! Petrie has put together a team that has better talent on paper, but have the worst team chemistry every in Kings history. Even when they are winning, there are players who are standoffish and aloof about the wins. I just want to know WHAT is Petrie going to do about it? What CAN Petrie do about it. I dont think Westphal is a terrible coach, but you have to give him players to coach WITH! The Kings have a collection of Rookies, young players, and washed up vets. You cant make a winning organization from that mixture of misfits. You certainly cant make a contender with this motley crew of wanna be's. Petrie needs a big trade to mix thing up and try to improve the Morale of this team. How he does it and who he trades is inconsequential at this point! The Kings are a LAUGHINGSTOCK as they are now comprised. What could Petrie do to make things WORSE? Petrie needs to Keep Tyreke and Cousins, and everyone else should be trade bait for something the Kings need. Like players with heart that want to win more they they want to celebrate being celebrities on a pee poor team. There MUST be trade offers on the table that make some sort of sense for the Kings at this point. Or perhaps the Maloofs can get off of their wallets and sign a player who can come in for one year and just fire this team up, They have NO emotional leader. They are all hanging their heads is shame, and it gets worse every single game. Mr. Geoff Petrie, start working your magic! This group you have assembled looks like a team thrown together at a YMCA game full of players who dont even like each other, They dont share the ball, they dont run the plays, and they are becoming less and less bothered by the mounting losses. No one expected this team to contend for the championship. But this low level of effort and execution is the greatest turnoff to fans of this team. I can hardly watch a game for a half on TV. I CERTAINLY would not PAY to see this trash in person. By the look of the nearly empty arena, I am not the only one to feel this way!! Until there are positive changes in this team, the only place the Kings are headed for is another rigged Ping Pong ball drop. TIME TO MAKE CHANGES IS NOW! DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO CHANGE THE LOSING MENTALITY OF THIS TEAM WHATEVER THAT TAKES! oR THERE MIGHT ONLY BE CAMERA MEN AND VENDORS LEFT TO WATCH THE GAME. i TURNED DOWN FREE TICKETS TO THE LAST GAME. AND UNTIL THEY APPROVE, I WOULD'T WASTE MY GAS TO SEE THE GARBAGE ON THE FLOOR AT ARCO.

I think I would feel better about the night had we not decided to play all of our older players so many minutes. I would rather be losing with a line-up of Cousins/JT/Donte/Reke/Jeter rather than a line up of Dalembert/Landry/Garcia/Head/Udrih

Well, that's not going to happen no matter who coaches the Kings. You always field what you think are your best NBA players giving best chance to win. Of your list, Reke is out (or at least day-to-day) and Donte has had numerous chances since he was unburied by PW and IMO blowing it by mostly disappearing or more inconsistent than his "back-up" Omri Casspi. Of the others, JT and Cousins are starters but Jeter is barely an NBA level player. Pooh might turn into an "Aaron Brooks" but he has a helluva long way to go.

I'm simply saying that I would rather see our youth lose than see disgruntled Carl LAndry let the other team pants us.

This team is easily worse than the 17 win team. I don't think I've ever seen a poorer team to watch. Not surprised the fan base is losing interest quickly. Can't blame it all on the coach either, players are playing stupidly and with a lack of effort.

Fire Westphal plz. The most important things in the team is momentum and passion,
but you guys can you see that? i can't believe this's NBA team.
we have great talent, great roster, and poor coach.
Fire Westphal, BTW Head, too.

This team is filled with guys who think they are better than they are.

Head and Beno really shouldn't be dominating the ball as much as they do. Casspi thinks he can score in isolation. Garcia shoots everytime he touches the ball. Landry is a black hole. Dalembert is taking turnaround fadeaways. The only guys who really move the ball are Cousins JT and Donte. Otherwise its a random mess of isos, pick and rolls, and postups.

We have by far the most unorganized offense in the entire league. With Tyreke out the ball has to go to Cousins down low, or run plays to put JT and Landry in scoring position. I'm sick of watching our untalented guards try to score off the dribble when our advantage is CLEARLY our size. Why did we win the first quarter? Because we POUNDED the Rockets in the post.

I'm not sure if this is what Westphal envisioned in his offense but he doesn't seem like a man with a plan right now.

That can be said for the whole season at this point. They aren't winning 20 games this year so you might as well play the young guys as many minutes as possibly for development and experience.

they do not have one player on their team that you can clearly say is the best at his position in the league
Heck, they don’t even have anyone you could say is top 5 at their position. Maybe not even top 10. Some might think that's an exaggeration, but I'd ask them, who is top 10 at their position on The Kings? Tyreke isn't a top 10 SG or PG at this point. You could argue that Cousins is a top 10 center but if he is, he'd be no higher than about 7th or 8th at this point.

There is NO camaraderie amongst this group. You dont see any of these players even acting like they can stand each other. The Chemistry on this team is HORRIBLE! Petrie has put together a team that has better talent on paper, but have the worst team chemistry every in Kings history.
I don’t really agree with that. The younger guys especially, Greene, Evans, Thompson, and Cousins seem to like each other fine. That’s not going to show in games though when you’re losing 85% of the time.

Like players with heart that want to win
I don’t think lack of heart or lack of wanting to win has anything to do with it. I’m sure this team hates losing like they are. The majority of the time they play with effort too so I don’t buy the “no heart” thing. The problem with this team is simple, they lack sufficient talent and experience to win on any type on semi consistent basis in the NBA.

You can try and solve it with coaching, talk about no heart, not wanting to win, etc. but it still all comes down to not enough talent, not enough experience.

TIME TO MAKE CHANGES IS NOW!
The time to make changes was in the off season, when there were quality free agents available. That was their only shot at getting a good player because other than Evans and Cousins they don’t have anyone on the roster good enough to get a good player in return in trade.

This is exactly how I've felt about this team all year, I really feel like there is no known pecking order in this team. Since we are losing everybody thinks they can be the man and when that happens its turnover and brick city. These guys will learn or continue to be blown out night after night, there are only about 2-4 guys on this team who haven't maxed out in their potential as a player. I really wish some of these guys will just do what they know they are good at instead of all trying to be Jordan it's just unwatchable when it breaks down like that.

What a disaster of a game. The first quarter looked promising, but I really wasn't expecting anything close to that from there. The Rockets shot into an ocean and the Kings got shut down and stopped feeding Big Cuz the ball down low in the second half, for whatever reason. JT looked good in his time, it must be frustrating for him to go straight up in the air and still get called for a foul when Scola just bulldozes his way into his chest. I can't ever fault JT's hustle & effort, I love it. Cousins was super aggressive on the defensive end too, atleast attempting to block some shots down low. Really other than them two, our guards are absolutely a nightmare to watch. When Head was starting in this one, I wanted to yell out in anger. I hate him so much. Beno is too up and down and just not good enough, he's more suited to come off the bench, but we don't have anything on the bench so he starts. Disappointing effort none the less, the Rockets are missing Yao & Brooks and yet they still beat the Kings by double figures, just unacceptable. I don't care that it was an away game either.

This is the team from the isle of misfit toys@ Need trades and drafts to fix this massive mess
