I'll give you my reasons why I think he would be growth stunting. High quality - that means he's going to get minutes, going to get shots, going to get the ball. That means less minutes, less shots, less of the ball for other players. With less playing time and less opportunities to play, score, defend, just how do you expect a young guy to develop to his full potential?
Going back to your whole "I wasn't trying to play GM" thing ... that's just lame. If you're criticizing Petrie for not aggressively pursuing a FA then it also means that you want to pursue a FA. If you personally didn't want a particular free agent or don't see any realistic, positive moves that we could have made without overspending, then why do you expect Petrie to have seen such a move? I'm just going to save you the trouble of making a bigger fool of yourself and suggest that you actually think before posting if you're coming from a defensive standpoint that isn't the crowd favourite.
