Yes, we are having players miss games due to injury. It seems like alot of games and "more of the same." Whenever this happens we hear "the Kings are cursed with the injury bug," or something of that ilk.

Here is what I want to know. What is the average number of player games(or minutes) that are missed on average, during a season, per team with a standard deviation. I want to know through the years are the Kings indeed statistically "deviant" with games and minutes missed due to injury, or does it just seem like it because we are cheering for them.

Where does one find such data? 82 games? I don't know.

The answer to your question is no, not really -- we've only been really high twice that I can remember -- once unfortunately in 2002-03, our best team, culminating in the disastrous Webb knee injury. And once a couple of years back. Because we got off and running with Cisco this season we likely got spotted 50 games missed due to injury there, and eh and Kevin give us 80 just as a baseline, so we'll have quite a few. But you have to get up around 150-200 to really have an "we're screwed" year, and we've only had a couple of short timers other than two big ones.

Is it? Or again, does it just seem like it? The Rockets seem to be pretty bad off. The Celtics lost Garnett in playoff time last year. The Clippers seem to lose a lot of their best players to injury.

I have been perusing the 'net , but cannot find much data yet. I did find the games lost totals for 2 seasons ago. having 200 missed games was not all that unusual. The clippers lost more than 300 that year. I will keep looking.

Actually, off the top of my head I'm not at all sure how to find "games missed due to injury" in any sort of compact form. Might be a way, but much as I love the numbers, I'm not culling through 1230 boxscores a year for several years' worth of games. Nuh-uh.
