KF "Official" 2008 NBA Draft selection thread

I haven't seen Thompson played so I'm reserving judgement. I guess all I can say is: Welcome Aboard JT!!

I was surprised the Kings took Jason Thompson. Hell, I don't even know who he is, however, I just saw on ESPN that he was 2008 MACC DEFENSIVE Player of the year. He seems like a solid pick. I like the fact he was defensive player. So, I can't boo the pick.

Many draft boards had him going late 1st, some even early second. Haven't seen him higher than 18'th on any board

Draftexpress had him at 14.

Wow! This is the biggest surprise of the draft. Though the Warriors liked him at No. 14, we had Thompson projected as a late first-round pick. He's solid, but that's it. There are much better players on the board here. Perhaps the Kings were shell-shocked after losing out on Bayless and Augustin, the two point guards they wanted.

How many times have we heard that the past few years...?

Golden State really liked him at #14. Maybe we could have traded down one spot, but I don't think people should assume where he was going to go.

If that is in fact the case then this pick makes more sense.

I saw it was a grade F with 46% for the Kings pick. I just heard that Jason tried out twice for the Kings.

thats funny because overall defesne is listed as a weakness. If thats his weakness and he was DFPOY then this may be nice.

I'm not ready to boo this pick either. It wasn't what I'd been hoping for, but, unlike the last couple of drafts, I didn't swear and want to puke as soon as I heard it.

I am sure a lot of these draft gurus dont know much about about a small school kid like Thompson. As much as I get annoyed with Vitale, I'd trust his opinion over Ford's.

Thompson is supposed to be pretty good at both shooting and passing, I'm thinking that Geoff still likes the Brad/Webber sort of thing, even if Thompson is never going to make it to the same level as CWebb. The only aspect that bothers me is the very mixed reports on his D, but I guess we'll see... at least that can be taught. *knock on wood*
