Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Prediction Poll #17.

Slightly off the topic of the current team: In the past several years the HOF seems to have slightly loosened its criteria, inducting a series of players/coaches including Chris Mullin, Dennis Rodman, Marques Johnson, Reggie Miller, Jerry Sloan and Don Helson who might have been considered borderline candidates at one time.

What do you think that means for the HOF chances of Chris Webber, Mitch Richmond, and Rick Adelman?

All three make it. Webber and Richmond were stellar ball players. Adelman was a great coach which still shows today.

Voted all 3, but Richmond probably will get passed over even though he has everything except playoff experience on Miller.

Webber and Adelman will undoubtedly make it, although it may take longer for the latter. Should be no doubting Webb's credentials, guy was unbelievable. I'd expect Mitch to make it at some point, too.

I honestly believe Vlade has a shot.

Am I right that the Basketball HOF is for all basketball and not just NBA? If so, I think Vlade's work with the Yugoslav national team coupled with his NBA career is easily enough, so long as the whole (unfair, in my opinion) Drazen Petrovic blowup doesn't get him vetoed.

Correct.

That's what I was thinking.

Thing is, and I've made this point before reagarding other guys, I don't think there has ever really been a player put in as both -- basically guys cna get in for being good internationals, or they can get in for being great NBAers, but I can't think of one that wasn't good enough to get in on either one of those scales, that still got in because he was pretty good at both. Once you cross over to the NBA, it seems you are then judged on an NBA scale, not an international one anymore, or an NBA+international combo thing.

And so Vlade Divac can be the first NBA-International combination to get into the Hall. Sounds perfect to me.

:)

Arvydas Sabonis is the first example that comes to mid to qualify in the Vlade Divac category of both NBA and international relevance. He was recently inducted into the hall of fame last year without a stellar NBA career, or any titles to his credentials, though he did win an Olympic gold medal in 1988 where Divac only has world championship medals. Vlade falls into this same category of dichotomous relevance, so I agree with VF that he gets a fair shake at it.

I really don't think Arvydas's NBA career had anything to do with his induction -- he was widely considered the best Euro player of all time, or at least the best talent. He played in the NBA, but even if he never had I think he gets in on that standard. Similar to Drazen.
