Kevin Durant on twitter...

I think Evans has earned a lot of respect for his heart, and fearless approach to the game. I wish more people would comment on Casspi, but alas, Evans was the 4th pick and one of the more popular names in the draft. But it's nice to see people respecting his game. Hope we have a Dwane Wade or Brandon Roy type player in Evans.

Very classy post by Durant.. I think Casspi is also earning respect around the league. Only eight games, but very encouraging so far.

I don't see much Brandon Roy in Evans. To me he's like a cross between LeBron and Wade. Hey! Maybe we have an Evans...:)

brandon roy is an almost perfect player to compare evans to... and not just because neither one likes to dunk. i dont know how many blazer games that you have watched but if you were to compare roy's rookie season to evans its pretty similar. roy was/is a better shooter... but their styles are pretty similar oddly enough if thompson can slow down he would be just as good as aldridge...

both players have similar roles(with martin out) as well...

roys rookie season he was 16/4/4
evans so far is 16/4/4

I already consider them close to equal because of Thompsons rebounding ability. As far as offense goes, Aldrige has an edge because of his shooting. Otherwise, I'd go with Thompson for other aspects of the game.

thats why i said that he needs to slow down... he could be right there with aldridge, though he is a better scorer... probably because thompson plays faster than his body will allow.

i dont see it though... evans doesnt have the athleticism to even try to compare him to wade or lebron. those two are freaks of nature...
This is false... Tyreke compares favorably to Wade. At the combine Tyreke was 1/4" taller and 9 pounds heavier. Wade had a 1" higher max vert than Tyreke but was also 9 pounds lighter and 1 year older. Give Tyreke another year's worth of growth and development and there's a good chance he could've equaled Wade's combine numbers. A young man at 20 years old is still maturing... that extra year's worth of growth would make a difference.

dude you cant be serious? dwayne wade is infinitely more athletic than evans... combine numbers are fun pre-draft stats to talk about that mean very little once those player step onto an nba court. i doubt most of them take it seriously. the ones that do are the ones who dont have guarantees from teams...

you could give evans 4 years and he wont be as athletic as wade.

Sorry, Evans isn't in the same league with Wade as a jumper. When Evans dunks it reminds me of Spud Webb dunking if you just watch the ball and rim. I would say Evans has a lot more body strength than Wade.

The combine is like a dyno for a car. Ya the numbers make look good, but in the real world sometimes it doesn't translate. (referring to his max vert)

After watching his third strong performance in a row, during the game I found my self salivating at the thought of watching him go at Kobe, I can't wait....

I completely disagree.... I posted about this before the draft and my opinion definitely hasn't changed watching Evans in the NBA so far. Evans upside is equal to Dwayne Wade imo... that's best case but it's not a "poor man's" Wade like others have said. His athleticism is close enough to Wade and he has slightly better size. Athleticism, or a lack thereof, will not be what stops Evans from reaching Wade's level of play.

What he gives up in leaping he makes up for in body size... he's a little bigger than Wade. My point isn't that he may be able to jump as high as Wade eventually but that a lack of athleticism won't be what holds Evans back from possibly reaching superstardom. He's plenty athletic enough at his size to develop into every bit the player that Wade is eventually. Evans' upside is superstar.

Twitter is a strange phenomenon. Here we have a thread with nearly as many responses as there were words to the original micro-post. :p

Athletically they aren't really anything alike.. I should have been more specific above.. When I meant Wade/Roy I was talking about roles on the teams and putting up similar stats.. If I REALLY had to compare athletic ability I would probably rate him closer to a Artest, or Salmons... Strength wise Artest, and athletic wise Salmons, which isn't a bad thing.. Dang though... If Artest was still on the team that would have been a pair to have together.

Yeah, that's why I put in the size difference. That's all part of the equation... just like judging an NFL player that runs a 4.3 at the combine at 190 pounds compared to a guy that runs a 4.4 at 210. Evans gives up some vert to Wade but makes up for it in size/strength. His upside is not limited by athleticism is my point... he can turn into every bit the player that Dwayne Wade is in the best case scenario. This isn't a situation with a guy like Curry who will always be limited by his athleticism.

I've always had respect for Durant. OKC is going to have a solid team in the near future. It would be nice to get a little rivalry going with them since we both have two young, up and coming teams.
