Keon Ellis

sure, Fox expected this, he plays with him and sees him in practice. Me, as a fan wasn't expecting this though. Was he a shooter at Alabama?
He shot 37% from three over 2 years of college. He shot over 40% from 3 last season in the G League. The big question about Ellis was his ball-handling abilities. They were not good coming out of college. To improve them, he was used in a facilitating role a lot last season.

and he shot 89% from the line in college.

Also of note, is that Brown immediately played him as a ball handling guard. He started at point guard in the games when Fox was out...and has continued to play there. This has been really good development with a guy who slipped past the 2nd round

Pretty slick of Monte to make up for striking out on the Davion pick by nabbing this guy. He's pretty much the exact player we were hoping Davion would develop into.

I wonder then why it took this many games of him getting consistent minutes to finally display the shooting? perhaps a combination of increased confidence knowing you will get regular rotation minutes and coaches urging him to shoot when open

I think Davion has a potential 10 plus career in him, it just may not be with this team and the schemes Brown runs here

To me, it looked like he was trying to fit into the offense without disrupting things. It can be a bit of an adjustment going from one of the primary scoring options to being a 4th or 5th option.

John Hollinger gave some love to Keon in his latest article along one of my trade targets Goga. I can’t remember the last time John had an article relating to the kings that contained only positives and no jabs

What did we decide to do with him?

I haven't seen any announcement yet either way. However, they just exercised Issac Jones option, so we know Perry isn't asleep at the wheel

We do know that Perry sees Keon as an important cog for the Kings, so I'm hoping the two sides are working on a contract before free agency starts. Fingers crossed there will be an announcement of a contract agreement today. Otherwise, I fully expect the Kings to decline his option, making him a restricted free agent.

My guess is thats exactly why his news is delayed. We are working out a contract extension instead of dealing with RFA.

Otherwise they would have just released the news that we were going to decline the team option and he'd be a rfa

We can't extend his deal unless we pick up the team option and wait until Feb. 9 2026.

But since he's our own free agent he *can* agree to a new deal with us in free agency. I would guess that we're trying to nail down an agreement with him as a soon-to-be RFA.
