Keep your heads up fellow Kings fans...

Starter
Kevin Martin----------age 26 (can be an elite scorer)
Francisco Garcia------age 27 (has potential to be a major 3 point threat + great hustle and solid D)
Donte Greene---------age 21 (great size for position, a miss match waiting to happen and tons of potential offensively)
Spencer Hawes-------age 21 (more post moves than most NBA big men + can knock down the 3 + surprisingly a pretty decent defender)
Jason Thompson------age 22 (never takes a play off + great hands + solid on the boards)

+ we're drafting 3 new youngins in less than 30 days by arguably one of the best GMs in the league at finding hidden gems!

As much as I'm pissed we got another screw job with landing the 4th pick, I really think we have a really great chance at getting a Russell Westbrooke type quality player in Jennings, Evans ect. to lead this solid young core. Having our team run by shoot first Bibby and mediocre Beno the past couple years, We really havn't even seen what our guys can really do. Honestly, I can't wait for next season.

That core may be exciting but I expect another lotto type season IMO. Which I don't think it is all bad. John Wall is the main prize next year.

Anyways, I would like to see more youngsters hustling and diving for loose balls though :D

Yeah, I definitely don't expect a contender or even a playoff team, but just seeing our guys get some sort of direction by a young exciting point guard will be awesome.

Meh, we really need to move up in this draft. We have GOOD young players but Petrie can not just do his typical draft night crap. He needs to be a lot more aggressive this time around.

do any of the kings staff or organization read our forums? they should! at least to get some idea on what we want for the team or what we currently think

If they do, I hope it's for comedic purposes only. Nobody is scouring fan forums for draft ideas. At least, I hope not. Are they checking to get a pulse of the fanbase? They might be. Overall they'd see some disappointment with coaching, excitement about youth, and a hope to move some picks and go up or down on draft day.

short answer = yes. But I doubt any of the top brass do (generational gap there too).

Well...except during the Hot Babes Draft, when I think they were pretty much all checking in every day. :p

david stern: with the 4th pick, the sacramento kings select...angelina jolie?

geoff petrie: oops, sorry david, wrong draft.

Our elite scorer in Martin will be 30 by the time we're good, and our potential sixth man of the year in Garcia will be 31. Which means that elite scorer will have wasted his entire career losing, unless he's traded, and Garcia won't be a sixth man, unless his body isnt breaking down and has become a precise spot up shooter.

Hawes will be in his prime almost and should be doing well as long as his knees dont break down at a younge age after 5 surgeries, Thomspon will be in his prime almost, Donte green won't be quite in his prime yet and hopefully gains control.

My point being this core, if still even the core by the time we're good, will have a short window with a 30 yo elite scorer, a 31 yo spark plug, a couple questionable pieces in Green because of control, Hawes, because of his knees, and the only solid one may be JT.

Lots of questions....many, many, many questions.

With our luck in the lotto I'm afraid you are right. We picked the wrong year to be the worst team in the league (weak draft) and we still end up with the 4th pick. My only consolation is the same thing happened with Boston 2 years ago and they won a championship the next year. Then again they had an allstar to start with.

I'm starting to think that our beloved Kings team from early 2k were more a lucky turn of events than the brain child of a genius GM. Let's hope I'm wrong.

Sorry, this is supposed to be a positive thread so I'll end with "IN PETRE WE TRUST"!

Man, I'm feeling better already. Nothing like a bright future. :)
