Karl asks Kings to explore Lawson option from Denver

Lawson is a good player and was with Karl for quite awhile. He seems too expensive.
Karl's willingness to talk about trading Cousins is probably a psychological ploy. No one on any team is on a pedestal or out of reach. Treat everyone the same, even though they have different abilities. It makes some of the other players feel less like they are in the hot seat. It is how even-tempered and rational coaches treat their players. Wooden was famous for that. He played no favorites to the extent possible.

Lawson's pretty much the same cost as Landry+Collison, and he will be cheaper to resign than some of the absurd amount a guy like Dragic may get here soon.

Just too bad it will cost a lot most likely to get Denver to even entertain an offer most likely.

I wonder what it would take to pry away Schroder from Atlanta....that kid can play, I'm sure he will be wanting to run his own team in the near future rather than playing behind Jeff.

I would love it, but Atlanta seems adamant about their playstyle, where everybody needs to be able to knock down open shots out to the 3 point line. They could use a young SG, but i doubt they would value Stauskas more than Bazemore. So any trade discussion will most likely start with McLemore. And Ben is a keeper for the Kings in my opinion.

Joe had a interesting stat suggesting some usefulness in Lawson.

Passing: The total number of passes a player makes and the scoring opportunities that come from those passes, whether they lead directly to a teammate scoring a basket or free throw, or if they set up an assist for another teammate.

Notice how high Lawson is on the chart.

Yup, Lawson is sneakily a really good passer. I think people just know him more as a short speedy scorer.

Looks like Shaw got hosed...

Maybe the dominoes are gonna start falling in Denver...

If they hire a noobie coach instead of an established one...

How did Shaw get hosed? He did a terrible job. He's only 48 years old and he is acting like he is in his 70's. Buying books to relate to people 20 years younger than him is ridiculous. He obviously had a huge disconnect with the players and it showed.

Hosed used as fired, discarded, let go, made insignificant, gotten rid of, thrown out, 86'd etc.

Bajaden's point about the similarity between Cousins and Wilt is an interesting one. They might be more emotional similarities. Wilt was the most dominant player in basketball from the time he entered the NBA. He was freakishly large, strong and talented. It will be a long time before anyone like him shows up again if ever. But he did have that emotional fragility in his personality like Cousins. They get frustrated and it takes them away from their games. Both players are and were strong enough to learn to play through fouls and ignore the ones that don't get called.
