Overall a good summer from JJ. He’s already gained some in his body which is a good sign. He has a lot of innate ability and is a good kid with a good work ethic. Still needs to fill the stat sheet a bit more across the categories, but showed positive maturation and what he needed to in SL
Based on his Summer league, he's worth the additional development and I think he'll start. I'm actually still not sure what we have with him. Can he pass? Rebound? Dribble? His IQ seems to be OK... Our other starters need to trust him and get him involved early in the year, but a lot of our players have something to prove. His lack of aggressiveness might not be fixable this year.
Jackson has to shoot better. 31% from 3 won’t cut it. But he is a smart player who I think will look better with Giles, Beli, Bogi on the court. He makes those back cuts, he is going to get a pass.
I can remember cringing last season watching Jackson clank open 3 after open 3, which merits you little playing time if you aren't doing much else. I saw him hitting those same shots in SL. If that translates to the regular season, I'll be happy with his year 2 development. Beyond that is gravy.
He’s a good kid, like Skal. That can’t be emphasized enough. He is skilled all over the place and has the work ethic needed to maximize his potential. And his possible potential is high BBIQ starting quality role player

I asked because a quick search by me could not find the 3 point % stats for Summer League. My eye test would have sworn he was shooting the ball better in SL???

I was specifically referring to open 3s, not contested ones. He took some slop shots, which to me is par for the course in SL. My sense is that his % on open 3s was quite high.
Interesting. That link shows better than what I had seen earlier. That's good news. I am not sure why the delta but Justin shooting at that percentage would be very helpful. I think he is a higher IQ player who could fit well with players like Beli, Bogdan, and Giles.

The realgm link has the Vegas and Summer Classic leagues separate so Justin Jackson appears on there twice. You'd have to average out his 3pt% but it still comes out to 31.9%. He shot better in Sacramento than he did in Vegas.

I'm still pulling for him, but he has to be able to hit those open three's. He has made a better effort in the rebounding dept, and his defense has been decent to good at times. But he has to hit those shots if he's going to stick in the NBA.

The distinction between the two is that Jackson has taken more three's than Fox, and that Jackson is shooting 41% overall against Fox's 47% overall. Point being, that offensively, Jackson's main function is to hit open three's. Not saying that it would hurt my feelings if both players started hitting those shots.

When the KINGS drafted JJ, I was thinking he would become one of those clutch shooting role players all good teams have. Never thought that would be the area he'd struggle with the most to this point.
Hopefully he figures it out soon enough. I'm very happy to see him contributing in other ways right now though. The kid has simply been a winner leading up to his NBA career and I'd like to see that continue.
I'm frustrated about his offense like everyone else. I was very impressed with his defense at the end of the game last night. Watching JJ and Fox swarming the Wizards in the lane was a beautiful sight to see.
