I wouldnt be surprised if we see him playing for the Sophomores next year.
Inconsistancy is a rookie trademark, but we're seeing more and more flashes of brilliance from JT.
I've been a fan since I read one of his first interviews, it may have even been a summer league one. He was down on himself for not grabbing enough rebounds. Dude's got a work ethic, and its starting to show on the court.
Edit:
I just checked out the rosters. I cant really make an arguement for Hawe's case (probably could if he was given more minutes though, he was super solid as a starter)....But JT kinda got snubbed there. I'd put him in over Beasley or Gasol. Lopez and Oden definately deserve their spots though.
For the sake of arguement here's some numbers for the month of January (rounded all numbers but blocks and steals)
Gasol: 32 minutes, 11 pts (49%), 7.5 rebs, 2 assists, 2 TOs, .9 stls, .6 blks
Beasley: 24 minutes, 14 pts (46%), 6 rebs, 1 assist, 1 TO, .6 stls, .4 blks
Thompson: 28 minutes, 13 pts (53%), 7 rebs, 1 assist, 1 TO, .3 stls, .7 blks
Pretty even.... but I'd give JT the nod over Gasol because he's scoring more with a better percentage in less minutes. I imagine those rebound numbers would be closer too if JT got another 4 mpg.
Marc clearly got in just to justify the NBA sponsered trade that sent his bro to the Lakers for Kwame.
Beasley...14 pts in 24 minutes for a rookie is pretty good. But at 46%? Dudes a PF! Thats an SG percentage. He's obviously just in the R vs S game because he was picked 2nd overall...
Although to be honest Kevin Love is the guy who should have gotten the spot over one of those two. That dude is averaging (in the month of january)...12/10 over 50 fg%....Here's the nutty part, in about 24 mpg. Beast.
Also...In the month of January JT is averaging, in about 3 attempts, 90% from the FT line!! Thats up from the mid 50's last month!
