Assuming this deal goes down, I thought Rockets would just waive Taylor (as they've been on verge of doing for couple months) meaning Kings could have picked him up for nothing.

yea like...Terrence Williams would have been nice...but no we get another houston bench player.
This is one of those where there are probably other considerations that aren't published (i.e. - cash considerations).
I want to say we did something similar a year or two ago but I'm too lazy to look it up.

Well, if he has a consistent outside shot, he might be able to make a contribution, His defense seems suspect from all accounts. The LAST thing the Kings need is another guard who cant play defense. I dont care how many points he can score, if he cant stop the guy in front of him he is a benchwarmer.
Looking at the videos it looks like he's got some hops, but his "D" will keep him off the floor if it is as bad as advertised. Then again, Rick Adelman never placed a great deal of emphasis on defensive prowess. If he can create his own shot and can sink jumpers, there may be room on the floor for a player like that. I'd like to see him play a few games to see if he has progressed in his defensive abilities. A few nasty dunks would look nice too. And according to Draftxpress, he has a 5-15 foot midrange game with a floater. I say bring him ON! Kings need all the athletes they can get.

Coming into the NBA, his strengths were supposed to be his body, athleticism, slashing with or without the ball, and the ability to nail open jumpers. Of course, that hasn't translated yet to an NBA court.
I'm trying to find a reason to get excited about this, but can't. He's worth a shot, but if he impressed at all during his rookie year, Houston wouldn't have gone after Courtney Lee, who's Kevins backup, and he might get some playing time ahead of Chase Buddinger. But he can't crack that rotation. Wouldn't expect him to take minutes away for Kev or Battier, but if he's also behind Lee and Buddinger, doesn't give me much hope.
In his defense, he does contribute in the scoring column when he does actually get minutes, and is shooting 50% from the field this year.

Nope. That's reason he was a Rio Grande Valley Viper "star" last season more than at least warming the bench in Houston. Wish him best of luck in Sactown but kind of laughable in his YouTude vid comparing himself to Dwayne Wade.

I like the move. Not for the player, but because tells me this front office isnt completely lazy like some ESPN guys seem to think.
Super minor deals like this usually arent made by lazy GMs. Why bother?

There go the Kings, once more acquiring the weakest player in a multi-player trade. Terrence Williams has a chance to be a stud with good ball-handling and play-making ability (with plenty more work, that is) -- why not go after him instead? But it seems yet again that it's Morey in Houston making the aggressive move and using us again to faciliate the deal.
Not gonna dismiss Jermaine Taylor though -- I'm interested and hopeful to see what kind of player he is for the Kings. The team could use an injection of...anything.

I'm not sure this is the type of deal to prove your point. I'd bet Morey looked at the list of teams w/ cap space, called Geoff up and said "we'll give you cash if you take Taylor so we can open a spot for Williams and stay under the lux tax. You can even put conditions on the 2nd rounder so you never actually have to give it up."
Geoff: "Deal."
I doubt there was a lot of pushing from our end on this.

Another mediocre guard. Just what they needed!
Hes a young skilled albeit knuckle head who Avery doesn't want to deal with anymore. All this kid needs is a change of scenery and playing behind Battier will certaintly help him along.
He would of still been a sulking knucklehead here so I'm kinda glad we didn't go for him, but Jermiane Taylor? Eh another whatever move to me. He's tall atleast for SG so if he shows a little defensive effort and scoring ability he'll snatch Heads minutes up real quick.

Jermaine Taylor is not that tall for a SG - but rather average at 6'4"-6'5." For me, a tall SG is around 6'7" or so like say Kevin Martin or Cisco Garcia. Taylor is 6'3 3/4" w/o shoes with some nice hops - I'll give him that. Jermaine likes to compare his stature to Dwayne Wade and it's true they're similar size (or similar size to a 6'5" Ray Allen) but the comparison to those long time big stars abruptly ends there.
I'm certain this is what happened.
