Ok, I don't watch the Nets games but why is it that they were so determined to move Harris and Favors?
If they aren't giving up 4 #1s I like this deal better for them than any Anthony deal.

You mean Jazz? I don't think this is a good deal for the Nets at all. Isn't Deron likely to walk at the end of the season anyway? Did he sign an extension?

great move by the jazz. deron is most likely going to leave anyway. they get a terrific prospect in favors and multiple draft picks to rebuild the team.

Deron is under contract until the end of next season.
Who knows, with the new CBA there is talk of a "franchise" tag. Also, Proky is hoping the allure of playing in a brand new stadium in Brooklyn + the fact they can offer Deron the most money will be too much to pass up. I'd say that's a pretty safe bet.
I think it's a pretty good trade for both sides, but if anything the Nets got more value

lol i didn't get it wrong. nets got a good prospect in deron. they were going to dump all that into carmelo who i don't think is a great building block. theres a good chance deron will resign in NJ/brooklyn than utah. deron has 1 more year on his contract besides this one. thats when they should be moving into the brooklyn arena

I was just thinking about this the other day -- Deron Williams is one of the few players in the league that I would seriously consider trading Tyreke for. His ability to run the offense, his size, and his all-around scoring ability cover a lot of what this team needs. His leadership without question is beyond where Tyreke is at and may even be capable of (personality-wise). Of course, it's not a conclusion about Tyreke's potential by any stretch, because it wouldn't be fair to make that conclusion about a 21-year old player. Simply a statement of where they both stand currently. Another crucial factor would be the fact that his game meshes with that of Cousins more than Reke's game does right now. He's 26 and would've been entering his prime just as Cousins would likely be truly finding his place in the league. Their pick and roll would be a beauty to watch.
Just another thing to leave to imagination with the Kings...
As for the Nets -- good on them for getting a cheaper deal for someone who is, in my opinion, a more impactful player than Carmelo is anyway. If they can convince him to stick around for a rebuild before heading into Brooklyn with a new contract, they have just as much potential to do damage in the East as the Knicks do in a couple of years. Maybe even more so for the Nets, seeing as their two best players play the two most important positions in the game. As of now though, their foundation is as fluid as that of the Kings. And the two are not very far apart in terms of talent, either. Not a compliment.

Terrible terrible trade for the Nets. They gave up Favors who I think will be a good player in a couple of years + the 1st rounders and Harris for D-Will.
Now they have D-Will and who else on that team? D-will won't change anything for them. Brook Lopez regressed and still can't rebound.

Nets need a centerpiece when they move to their new arena in Brooklyn.
Deron is a legit superstar. Favors has tremendous upside and many think he will be a great player..key word is THINK. Great deal for the Nets, and they didn't need to package any 1st rounders.

Have you watched Favors play so far. There's plenty of reason to doubt whether he'll ever reach his potential. I'm not sold on him at all. Granted things can change but so far its not looking good.
Harris again is a solid point guard but no Deron Williams.
Lastly they just traded for arguably the best point guard in basketball and frankly a player I'd rather have than Carmelo Anthony.
So in summation, the Nets basically forced the Knicks to up the ante and give up half their team for Carmelo and then turn around and trade for an arguably better player. Good point guards (let alone franchise level ones) are literally impossible to find, this is a damn steal.

Jazz tried to trade Deron to Sacramento first. Cousins, picks from the Rockets, and more were likely going to be involved. Apparently, the Nets came in at the last minute to stop that deal from happening.
