I completely agree with you. I have seen bad and frustrating games from Thompson but I have seen a number of games where he has performed well with both his offense and his rebounding, hustle, and attitude. He does need to keep the good and throw away the bad. But get rid of him? No. If Landry, Cousins, Dalembert, or others could play better, for more minutes, there would be no reason to play Thompson. We aren't there yet.So here's the first "get rid of a player" thread of the season. After 96 total minutes of basketball. Wow. JT had a poor outing, very poor, but trade him because of it? Wow.
But trade JT based on tonight, or tonight and wednesday combined? Asinine statement to make.
What are your expectations from JT though? Do you expect him to be a all star or something? He is a capable big man who will grab boards and hit a jumper here and there. He's a bone head in the paint that can't finish like Landry or Demarcus who also happens to be inconsistent as hell. However with that said he does alot of scrappy work for us under the boards and with our new tougher team look he fits in too well for us to wanna shop him 2 games into a new year. I really believe we would miss the hell outta him out there if we got rid of him as well.
You said you haven't seen any improvement in JT since we drafted him. I gave you a number of examples of improvement he has made over the last 2 years. I gave examples including last year. You chose not to respond. Why are you blatantly ignoring the other side of the argument???to all u who are sayin oh its 2 games into the season....did you not watch JT last season?!!? thats really where my original post came from, the game last nite just got me even more heated!!
It is very disappointing how much potential JT and Donte seemed to have when we first acquired them and to see them now only marginally better than in their rookie years.
Let's get Melo! Hah...yeah right
Well, there's a lot of bigs in the front court and JT is certainly looking like the odd man out at this point. He could literally be behind Cousins, Daly, Landry, and Jackson. If he is? Goodbye trade value. Probably better to cut ties sooner than later if he's going to fade into the backround.

If you can't even respond in an intelligent manner, and ignore people who take the time to respond to you, don't start a thread in the first place.
People like to ignore the fact Bigs don't develop into what we want until 4th or 5th year in league for the most part is why.
It never ceases to amaze me how quickly some are to want to kick a player to the curb. As far as JT goes, I'm gonna keep the faith...at least a while longer. C-Webb has said more than once that he thinks Jason has the goods, he just needs to learn how to use the skills he has in a consistent manner. And if it's good enough for Webber, it's good enough for this Kings fan.
GO KINGS!!!
Tad premature methinks, as the low response rate to this thread shows.
Is going to have to pick it up here though or risk losing his minutes with this flood of bigs we have around.

That's really kind of a myth, particularly for an "old" rookie like Jason. to whatever degree it would be true for bigs, it would be for 19 year old kids coming in without the bodies to compete with grown men. JT came into the league at 22, is moving toward 25 now. He's full grown. Guys his age used to routinely step right into the league and dominate if they were able to back in the old 4yr college days, and even the slow developers might follow the normal third year rule at best. Very few guys improve by any great leaps after 25, big men or not.
JTs bigges thope has always been thst so many of his errors are essentially mental, adn that's one area of the game where you do keep on getting better. But he's going to have to show that on the court fairly quickly, because we've got to many options now to be coddling hiim. Two games is obviously a ridiculous time period for decisions, but three months and approaching the trade deadline could get interesting, adn Jason would be well advised to not make it interesting for himself.
No. It's not pre-mature. Jason has not improved much at all since entering the league. Whenever he comes in to the game, the Kings struggle. He can't finish around the rim. He's just not a smart player and I wish he was off this team. Actually, it Westphal's fault for playing him.
Coach Westphal needs to step it up as well. We are giving up layups and drives YET he refuses to put in Dalembert wtf is your problem.
Have you seen Dalembert run? He is nowhere near being close to being able to play more than 3 minute spurts.
We should also trade Cousins and Landry, they fouled a bunch and didnt rebound either.
Oh, Omri also needs to go, 0-5 from 3.
Reke had terrible efficiency tonight too, we should see if we can get GS to trade us Curry for him, or maybe the Bucks will give us Jennings.
Actually, lets build a new team around a core of Cisco and Jackson since they were the only guys who had good games tonight. Everyone else must go!

Odd man out? When Cousins can at best only play well for a half. When Dalembert can only play a quarter? When Jackson is untested? When Landry's excellence in offensive areas sometimes isn't as important as his shortcomings in other areas? JT is really in the back seat? Now is not the time to take away the coach's options, as bad as they may be.
I'm sorry but that is a soft mentality that I don't want this team to have. When Dalembert went in he blocked shots. We could have used that when the cavs were killing us, even if it would just be for 3 minutes.
If by next year he's still doing such things though I suggest we get rid of him. I said the same thing about Hawes last season and he ended up being traded in the offseason. Hassan has higher upside IMO and should definitely become a better player than JT at the moment. JT has all the skills, the size, and the heart. He's just lacking a bit of the brains and control
Just a side question...Does that part REALLY help your argument?
You do realize the game Dally missed wednesday snapped his streak of playing in 354 consecutive games right? Dally came back 2-4 weeks ahead of schedule, Westphal had a 10 minutes limit on his playing time in NY, he's coming back from an injury, and it's the 2nd of a back to back. Toughness has nothing to do with it.I'm sorry but that is a soft mentality that I don't want this team to have. When Dalembert went in he blocked shots.
