Jason Levian replacing Petrie?

Kind of old new right? I think this issue was brought way back when the news broke of his signing. I don't know if it's that, after hearing about how he is CBA and cap nerd I think he is here to help negotiate deals, and help with contracts, trades, etc.

I dont think Geoff has any plans on turning over the reigns until he's finished with this rebuild, which is only in it's 1st full year, because last year the Maloofs were still wanting to toy with the idea of being mediocre with Artest and Bibby getting a few more wins for us. I think once next year is over, he might re-evaluate where things are in his life/career...he'll have about $30 million to play with after next year when Miller, Thomas, Moore, Douby, Shelden, and Reef come off the books, plus B-Jax comes off after this year, too. We'll go from about $69 million in salaries to about $30 million...the work has only begun.

I give Petrie two more years, once he knows a solid coach and team are there to move forward. Coachie coming back is probably "one last hurrah" so they can both go out together. I love that.

As far as I know, GP is perfectly healthy.

Maybe he just likes the idea of having some help around. Apparently he and Jason go back a ways now and like and respect each other. Could Jason replace GP someday? Maybe......when GP's ready to go or thinks it's time for him to go.

It's time for Petrie to go. He's not the guy who's going to get us back. After tonight's debacle it's time for a change.

Hmm... so this one game is proof positive in your mind that Petrie should be fired?

I've seen all sorts of changes for the sake of change. Never seem to work out and usually backfire.

After tonight's debacle? What made tonight different? Did you expect a repeat of the performance against the Mavericks?

Getting rid of Petrie at this point in time would make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Basically, he got us into this mess and we can only hope he has a plan to get us out.

Once the Maloofs committed to rebuilding, it was going to get worse before it could possibly get better. And now it's coming to pass...

We are not a good team. We aren't even a fair team. I'll even go so far as to say on most nights we aren't even a real team. We have a group of players at various stages of their careers who do not blend together, do not offset each other's strengths and weaknesses and will not manage to win except on rare occasions.

Changing the GM at this point in the season wouldn't change any of that.

Getting through the remainder of the season is not going to be pretty or fun. It's going to be ugly, it's going to be painful and hopefully it will get us an incredibly good shot at one of the top picks in the draft. That's about the best we can hope for right now...

and who do we replace him with? Isiah Thomas? I think some people need to relax and realize that we are in the begining stage of rebuilding. We're going to see a lot of games like this and almost every team that rebuilds goes through this so its nothing new here.

But is there a plan? All Petrie has done lately is sign all these ill-advised mid-level exception players. We traded Bibby for expirings and Shelden so we could sign Beno to a mid-level. Shareef was signed to a mid-level after the huge red flag from his failed physical in New Jersey. We traded Webber for all these "tradeable pieces" like Kenny Thomas who we're stuck with for two years after Webber's contract expired. Mikki was signed to a mid-level and everybody agrees he is not worth that money. Artest, as much as I wanted him gone after last season, was traded for Bobby Jackson (who I love, but he's aging), Donte Greene (D-Leaguer), and a late first round pick. Meanwhile, Bibby and Artest are making game winning shots and taking over games.

lol, i guess you've never seen a rebuild before or when the kings were just as terrible as they are now. we got some nice young pieces in place. we need to let them get some game time experience. you don't go from bad to great overnight unless you land a young shaquille oneal or duncan.
