Jason Hart: New King

hopefully we still keep house.... like i said before.... with bonzi on the team we dont have much range coming from the guard positions outside of bibby.... house would have helped that when bibby was on the bench, especially when most of the bench was on the court....

but why havent we picked up a back up sf?

He's a great pickup for backup point guard...I never really zero'd in on him playing Charlotte but he was somewhat of a defensive spark plug off the bench when he was with the Spurs and I did however see A LOT A LOT of him when he was in college at Syracuse...I do think he has more potential them whats he's given out thus far...I thihnk he'll fit in nicely...its a good move for us I think...

Welcome to Sac Jason

ya know so far with 3 new players to our roster we have to come up with 3 new nicknames for them...since ya know we love nicknames around here

Because between, Peja, Corliss, and Bonzi, there won't be any minutes left.

As far as J. Hart, not a bad pick-up. Now we need to get somebody who can block shots and will actually make rotation.

I agree. I think House has been getting better and i'd like to see him stay at least one more year so we can see how he does.

jhill makes no sense... they called jason williams, j will becuase his last name was williams........ hence J from Jason and Will from Williams.... ;)

im not a fan on nick names they are wack........ ;)

Didn't know that Mad D. Nice job finding that out. Bonzi it is :).

I know it was cause his last name was Williams, I'm not stupid (:p). He is still Jason and its more of a Kings fans culture thing than his actual last name :D

okay, maybe its just me

Kinda off the topic, but ...

House did himself well in Sac-Town last year. I'm sure other NBA teams saw what he's capable of and there's probably a chance some other team would pick him up ... Sneakin' suspicion Eddie's gone

With Mo's name coming up alot of also being gone, this brings a thought to my mind ...

Matt Barnes ... AGAIN I MENTION HIS NAME ... his name just keeps popping up.

Matt plays PG, SG and SF ...

I know, I'm dreamin' .... but, IT COULD HAPPEN

ps ... I like HART-breaker for a nickname (geez, the guy ain't here yet and we're naming him already) ... oh well ... what more do you expect from a King's fan !!!

hart breaker sounds nice. for that one, id wait until he makes a shot for the win at the buzzer. breaks the other teams heart/hart kind of deal.

we really shoud wait til we see him play at least 10 games...oh well, tis fun :D

To me this guy doesn't seem any better if not better at all than Eddie House. Why not keep house? He can shoot 3's...this guy isn't that great of 3 shooter from what I hear.

NBA.com BIO

-Lists Magic Johnson and L.A. Lakers as his childhood hero and favorite basketball team
-Resides in Los Angeles during the offseason

From a fan website:
Nickname: Glass Jaw, given after being knocked unconscious in Game 2 of the first round of the 2004 Playoffs against the Grizzlies. Name given to him by Robert Horry.

I think now that we have a back-up PG, we should keep House for pure scoring off the bench. House wasn't that good the first few weeks or whatever, but he got better as it went on, in February-on.

hart breaker reminds me too much of jenna jameson....... if you dont know betta ask somebody......

So what? We'll get that for the bench too. I'm glad to see Geoff addressing the defense, and the back-up PG role with a nice player.

Solid pickup, IMO. Can play good perimeter D and run the offense in the 10-12 minutes needed behind Bibby. A good sign for the kids that no real combo 1-2 was picked up, meaning the backup minutes behind Bonzi are left for Martin and Garcia.

I don't know what all the clamoring is about SF. Barring trade Corliss should have that wrapped up; or is he filling Tag's slot as backup center?!

In any case, I expect Barnes to be picked up during/after training camp as 12th man and insurance at 2/3, with possibly even some PG time. With 14 slots this Price kid that many here are high on could be picked up too.

Obviously, our next move should be to rectify the PF/C situation. Songaila isn't the answer, but retaining him as another piece is ok for now.

that link earlier in the thread (kennadog mentions it) ... is great.

Like hndsmcelt eludes to, I wonder how much of the Bobcats style of play had to do with Hart's play on the court.

One of the one really positive things I've heard so far is ... HE PLAYS WITHIN HIMSELF.

This is solid pickup #2. Good defensive PG, and there aren't too many of those around the league really. And what I really like is that it was for "free", using one of our trade exemptions and a very low value 2nd round pick. Our exceptiosn and trading pieces are still here. Think the stats last year were probably a little inflated -- he's a long way from a stat stuffer. But he gets after his man and hustles, and that's just so critical for us now. I'm not at all sure Cisco can guard NBA players one on one, but he loves to help on defense. Hart and Bonzi both get into defensive stances and really challenge their guys. This is all good in trying to change the prevailing mentality we've had around here. Keep on adding players who think defense is important and maybe eventually you begin to develop a defensive chemistry.

The downside is that I would have considered Hart a very marginal NBA player in his Spurs days. As apparently did they. But hopefull this past season with charlotte was really his breakout year and he can be a player with some impact for us.

Garcia = The Latin Assassin :D

too clumsy.

Cisco, Bonzi...and Hart will probably do. When you've got a name like Bonzi, or a short and sweet abbreviation like Cisco, no need for anything over the top.

"Wow." That was my first thought when I heard Kings are picking up Hart. Then I thought, for who? And "Whoa." A future second round pick. I think this is a great pickup for us. He's going to be a great backup, and I believe he has tons of room to develop.

Now with the issue of a primary backup PG solved, I have full confidence we are going to get a very nice PF pickup. There is some concern about our backup SF, but I strongly believe Matt Barnes will take that role (and hope he does).

Kings are starting to look their part now. Go Kings!

Gawan Deangelo Wells, Bonzi is his nickname,

Like Penny and Speedy.

Yeah I knew about that but I was just thinking how everyone kinda shortens peoples names when talking about them here ya know...anyways I heard Bonzi got his nickname cuz when his mother was pregnant with him she use to eat a lot of BonBons...so Bonzi came from that...

thats kind of quite strange...

anyways, yeah...bonzi is short enought..Hart will be Hart anyway....and cisco has been cisco...so for now, i guess we just stay with those

I haven't watched much of his play but I like what I hear about him. As brick said this was basically a free pickup. We lose nothing and we pick up a player that everyone says play's within himself and he plays decent defense.

I still expect to see a trade for a quality PF. I just don't like our chances with KT as our starting PF. He had good numbers but he is not going to bring us to the promise land.
