Jackson out for 3 months? Injury update...

Who does this sound like?????

"Strengths: Quick first step allows him to penetrate on command and because of this he does a solid job of drawing fouls for easy scores ... Explosive scorer who can reel off some big points in a hurry ... Solid ball handler who always looks to push the ball up the court to ignite the fast break where he is a solid finisher ...Has some leadership qualities in that when the game is on the line he wants the balls ... For his size he is an excellent leaper which explains why he is a capable rebounder at his position ... Has the potential to be a proficient defender due to his exceptional quickness and fast hands ... Smart player who understands how to play the passing lanes to get easy steals ... Possess wonderful body control when he's driving to the basket he has the ability to adjust in the air to make acrobatic lay-in's ... Has improved on moving without the ball, something that can be hard for players like ___ who prefer to have the ball in thier hands to create ... Due to his work ethic, he has enhanced certain aspects of his game each year.

Weakness: ___ isn't what you would call a pure point guard who looks to set-up teammates first as he prefers to shoot first, pass second ... Shot selection isn't the best as he settles for way too many 3-point attempts ... Average decision maker with the ball in his hands due to his tendency to get careless ... While he is a very good defender, ____at times can overplay his man which can lead to some quick fouls ... At this point he is an average long-range shooter, so getting consistency would be of great benefit ... He's still learning how to get teammates involved in the offense which exemplifies his need for overall growth in his point guard skills ... Can struggle sometimes when playing in a half court offense as opposing defenders will often sag off him to cut his penetration leaving him to settle for outside jumpers ... Inconsistency plagued him constantly during his junior campaign ... Turnovers continue to trouble ____at times as he can make some questionable passes and has a habit of trying to make the spectacular play.

Sound alot like Bobby doesn't it??? Anyway, that was the draft Bio on Troy Bell who was a former first round pick a few years ago and I believe he was waived by Memphis and no one has picked him up. I say sign him.........better than a 36 year old Strickland.

I just did a google search and it looks like he is playing for Real Madrid in Spain and signed on 12/10.

Another direction would be to see what it would take to wrest away a backup PG from teams who aren't going anywhere this year possibly using a combination of draft picks/rookies. Potentials would be Kenny Anderson (Hawks), Moochie Norris (Knicks), David Wesley (Hornets), Derek Fisher (Golden State) and Nick Van Exel (Jailblazers). As stated above the likelyhood of REPLACING BJax's numbers and everything he brings to the team is nil...however, finding a vet who won't hurt you is the key. Of course the Maloofs would have to take the salary cap hit in this scenario.

Was Bobby's wrist hurt before the game and he just made it worse at Wiz game? I just watched the replay of it and he was already playing with a wrapped up wrist.

Dr. Elston Turner was just on the Rise Boys with Monty and said that he didn't believe that Bobby would be out 3 months.......for whatever that's worth

not much at the moment. A lot down the strech potentially.

The Important thing is we know Bobby will be back in time for the playoffs, last year this happend with us but he couldnt play in the playoffs, a wrist legiment tear is totally different then a abdominal tear and im positive Bobby will play in the playoffs, I have faith we can get to the playoffs without Bobby(Mo Evans), so we will be fine. Im just gonna miss his energetic play, I love it......

i've been bedridden with the stomach flu the past two days, and then i log on here to find this news. geez, this team gets all the breaks when it comes to injuries.

our bench was thin enough with bobby, but without him, we are screwed. i don't see how we can make up for his loss, and i'm not happy with the idea of doug having to play the next 3 months like he had to the end of last season.

however, the good news is it appears bobby will be back in time for the playoffs. here's to a speedy and full recovery bobby. we need you.

That is worth alot.

This is when I wish we had someone like Damon Jones..

Do you all see what he is doing with the Heat? He has become a decent player!

in 30 minutes he is 3.7 out of 8.3 @45.1% and 3pt he is 3.0 out of 6.7 @44.4%. 11.4pts 3.7apg 2.6rpg onlt 1.1to/g.. Not bad.. Wish we had him here right now :(

Two seperate things we need to replace:

1) a backup PG. That situation is really ridiculous now. We really should have carried a third in case of injury anyway, but now we don't even have a 2nd. Yes, we can swing our 35yr old starting OG over for spot duty, but there's no true bench guy at all who can even do the simple things such as bring the ball up court against pressure and set up the offense. And sooner or later teams will figure that out if we have to go a full season that way, and will start to take advantage.

2) scoring punch. Virtually impossible to replace with a PG type. Maybe some players who can approach it from the OG position. But would we really pick up yet another OG? Barnes and Evans = just not the sort of dynamic scorers to put up Bobby type numbers. Daniels certainly not. Only guy with even an outside shot would be Martin. But is he remotely ready?

Probably only one pickup will be made. So which way do we go?

P.S. Ricky Minard wasn't better than Martin or Evans in preseason, so would we really pikc him up and install him in FRONT of them? Didn't impress me as having any PG skills either. Just a small OG.

P.P.S. The Dajuan Wagner idea is interesting -- former high lottery pick (#6) from a few years back that has just been unable to establish himself. Another kid who came out too early (still only 21), but definitely has some Bobby in him on offense. Has none of Bobby's toughness though, is hurt a lot, and is like a younger, dumber Bobby when it comes to shot selection. But one of the few guys mentioned so far that has the chance to be dynamic in the way Bobby is. Problem is that we don't like dynamic in this franchise, we like smart.

Liu Wie? He may have even saved his Kings Jersy... never mind, but I could be a compleet homer and point out that former Bulldog Tito Maddox is available, oh never mind this one either I'll let Petrie figgure this one out on his own...

Only reason I brought up Minard is that I really don't think that whoever they sign will play very much. He will basically be there for a little depth and practice fodder and he knows the team/system, etc....

If he gets some minutes he will get over his jitters, I have no fear about that. He's working hard and coming along nicely from what I've seen/heard. He has really extended his range, which was college 3 comfortably at the beginning of the year. He might even be a bit heavier now, the Kings send a chef to his house at the beginning of each week;) He just needs to show the confidence he showed in college.

:( I am so depressed!! :(

I miss Tuesday's game (where Bobby got hurt) and sit all night in the ER with my sister.......who is much better now.....thanks! Then, I hear (the next day) that Bobby was injured. Now, I come here to find out that the injury is indeed serious.

GET WELL SOON, BOBBY!!......from your 6thmanfan.

We don't like Athletic either.;)

Evans did a descet job last night. Lets see what this kid can do.

there's an article in the bee today that bobby may consider a second option (if there is one --if the doctors could recommend one) which will require him to miss about 7 weeks..

for some reason, i can't cut and paste articles in my aunt's computer.. sorry i couldn't post it for you guys cause i'm not in our house.. so this computer's kinda weird.. i'm sure someone else can paste it.. :)

Jackson Article: Sac Bee

Jackson will seek second opinion

By Joe Davidson -- Bee Staff Writer

Bobby Jackson needs new mitts.

His left hand bears proof of a lot of agony. There's the scar on the thumb from a ligament tear several seasons ago. And there's the gnarly middle knuckle, still looking swollen and freakish from when Shaquille O'Neal nearly reduced his paw to powder with a swipe of the ball (he got all hand instead) - on Christmas two years ago, no less.

Now the Kings guard has been sidelined with a ligament tear in his left wrist that likely will require surgery.

Jackson said before the Kings played the Miami Heat at Arco Arena on Thursday that he hopes a second opinion will bear him better news, that perhaps six or so weeks of rest will do the trick. He will consult another specialist within days and has set no timetable for surgery - if that is the recommendation. Surgery would sideline him for up to three months, which would be the eve of the playoffs.

"If I can sit out five or six weeks instead, I'd be tremendously happy," Jackson said. "I've had surgery so many times, I don't like it. I do know that I'll have to have pins in there for eight weeks if I have surgery."

For Jackson, it's three years running of utter frustration, and he has become an unwilling poster boy for the team's untimely ailments.

Two years ago, the Shaq poke forced Jackson to the sideline for seven weeks, though he was still able to win the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award.

"It's ironic that we're playing Shaq tonight," Jackson said.

Last season, Jackson was sidelined for 28 of the final 29 regular-season games and both rounds of the Kings' playoffs because of an abdominal strain.

And now.

Jackson on Thursday wasn't taking his customary pregame warmup shots to the point the sweat pours off his face with strength and conditioning coach Al Biancani feeding him dozens of balls.

"I don't know what to do with myself," Biancani said. "Bobby works so hard, it has to tug at your heart that this has happened to him again."

It did to those in the locker room, where Jackson's dressing stall was devoid of warmups, a jersey, shirts and shoes, as if he'd been cut or traded.

"Oh man, he has the worst luck," Kings reserve Matt Barnes said. "My heart goes out to him. You think you have a sore wrist and then ... "

And then the next series of tests reveals a tear. Jackson said he was stunned to find out the severity of his injury.

"After my last game, it was sore, and I thought that was all it was, but I knew something was wrong because it got worse," Jackson said. "It's very frustrating, but I've got to stay strong."

Jackson will be able to run, but shooting will mostly be done with one hand, if at all. He'll take a seat near the Kings' bench, the same one he didn't want to get used to last season down the stretch.

"It's a downer to the team, to the league and to the fans who pay their money to see guys like Bobby play," Kings assistant coach Elston Turner said. "It's a ripple effect. That was the question about us coming into the season: How healthy can we be?"

Jackson's loss creates more opportunity for Maurice Evans, an exceptional leaper who excelled in Europe last season; first-round pick Kevin Martin; and Barnes.

"It's a major blow because you can't replace a guy like that," Martin said. Said Barnes: "Even though he's a little guy, he's got huge shoes to fill."
