Jackson out for 3 months? Injury update...

Just heard on 1140, that Bobby will be out for 3 months because of surgery on the wrist. I thought I heard that the MRI was negative, so why is he having surgery. Well here's the injury all us Kings fans have been waiting for. But I know that the Kings will pick it up like they always do.

Holy crap -- are you kidding me?????

I wish I was kidding. I'm getting very depressed right now. I need someone to cheer me up and let me know the Kings will be alright.

Jackson to have wrist surgery

It's not too late to get into a Fantasy Sports League. Sign up here.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Kings guard Bobby Jackson has a torn ligament in his left wrist that will require surgery and could sideline him for at least three months.
Jackson was injured late in the first half of Sacramento's 104-93 win over Washington on Tuesday night. A date for his operation hasn't been determined.

He was examined by hand specialist Karen Heiden at the UC Davis Medical Center on Wednesday, and a set of detailed MRIs and X-rays revealed the nature of the injury.

Jackson is expected to undergo 12 weeks of rehabilitation, but he may consider a second opinion about his recovery.

Jackson, in his eighth NBA season out of Minnesota, is averaging 12.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 23 games this season.

ouch. I logged on specifically to see the update on Bjax (somehow I knew it would be here;) ) but now I wish I hadn't. That really sucks. Honestly. I agree with the positive spin -- I hope that we get some new talent, and then Bobby comes back and plays great -- BUT -- in terms of our season, it just makes it that much harder. Yes, our starters put up great numbers last night & had a great win, but it's hard to be "on" every night... Hmm... we will see, but to me this is all bad news.

This sucks and we are screwed for the moment.

Get well soon Bobby.

For three months...I really do think we need to get somebody new if that's true. He'll barely be back in time for the playoffs. :( We could maybe have tried to turn it over to the rooks for a few weeks, but we can't risk the season on a bunch of unproven guys with next to zero NBA experience.

Sure does stink. We do get an obscene amount of injuries.
Obscene amount of injuries? Not this year, knock on wood.

damnit..B Jax is always getting injured
And you know why? Because he's one of the most frenetic players in the game today. He puts himself in harm's way for the good of the team more than any other player I can think of...he's not that big and yet he's always going up against the biggest, roughest players in the game. He's either one of the most fearless people around or one of the most cavalier and I prefer to accept the former. Remember the broken face when he played without a face guard because he was afraid wearing one would cut down on his ability to see the ball?

I am intrigued by the little snippet in the article that says:

Jackson is expected to undergo 12 weeks of rehabilitation, but he may consider a second opinion about his recovery.
I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him show up in some kind of plaster of Paris casting system, with switches, levers, etc.

As much as we are going to miss him, he's going to miss playing a lot more!!!

I wish him a speedy recovery!

I prefer to look at this year as the first year in 5 where we're not going to be hamstrung...

:D

Me too, but unless that second opinion is positive, it looks like we are 0 for 5.

bad news but we can sit here and whine about it, or we can think of wat good can come out of this, it gives sum 1 a chance to step up and maybe we can find another key contributer. (mo evans, flash, or mayb well pick sum 1 up which is probably the most likely)

Minard is tearing up the DL right now, and he knows the system...

There is no player availible who is even remotly as good as Bobby is.
Well hell, in that case, I guess we should just give up, huh?

Bobby's hustle is great, but he's rapidly turning into a new version of Robert Pack (energetic PG from the late 90's who just could not stay healthy and mixed stretches of All-Staresque play with 1/2 seasons spent on the IL). Not exactly the statement Bobby wanted to make in a year when he came in trying to prove he could stay healthy.

Here's the thing that his minutes sometimes obscure:

Bobby Jackson is 22nd in the NBA in pts/48min at 26.4. That's better than Peja, and trails only Webb (27.8) on the Kings.

That sort of scoring punch is virtually irreplaceable.

We will survive -- we always do. But with no proven answers off the bench this year, this one hurts.

Okay, just for the sake of discussion, how does that work? Could we pick him up from the NBDL? If so, would we have to sign him for the remainder of the year?
