I don't know if it just seems this way to me but the Kings look like a deadly team with every player back (Martin, Artest, Bibby).
I don't think most of us really realize how good this team can be, even this year.
Too me those injuries to Martin, Bibby & Artest were a blessing to this team.
It gave Beno, Salmons, Garcia a chance to prove that they are high level players and starters on most teams. "IF" coach Theus does this right I can see us making that final run for the playoffs and doing some serious underrated damage in the playoffs.(This would be huge experience for the team for upcoming years)

Think about the stamina point of view.Having this many skilled players on a team meens our Defence, Offence & Hustle will all be improved because we can just run the hell out of teams.

Quick substitutions after all out hustle on offence & defence will be the key to this team, we can out run any team in the league. Think about Artest/Bibby/Martin going all out for 5 minutes then subbing in Beno/Salmons/Garcia and them going all out for 5 continue the pattern.

We can keep a fast paced game on O & D with this team, we will always have fresh legs on the floor and most teams will not be able to handle that especially going down the stretch at the end of a game where our biggest problem this year has been.

We have 7 players capable of 20 + points any night (Martin, Artest, Bibby, Salmons, Garcia, Beno, Miller) so the scoring is there for us.

We have the defensive leader (Artest) most teams dont have. When Artest triggers the defence attitude in this team our zone d has proven to be very effective and we have all the tools to run it to perfection (Quick subs, fast smart players, willing players, Coach Theus).

Something very important that most people don't realize we have is the undderdog attitude ( record 14-21). This team is out there to prove they are not what that record indicates we are, we are much much better.
The undderdog attitude meens the players have nothing to loose when they are out there because they are already a semi-loosing team. They can only go up, and that is what they are going to do. They have nothing to loose because we have already been loosing.
This isn't just basketball im talking about its a normal principal in life that can apply to bball.

When you see the worst and you are used to the worst you can truly see how bad things are getting. Then one day the best finally comes out, you appreciate the best so much more because you've seen the worst and this makes the best even better. Which in our case is playing better basketball and getting the good feeling back of winning instead of loosing.

Its time for this team to show the world, the league and all of us loyal fans what they are truly capable of & I honestly believe thats great things.

This team has been through the worst so the best is yet to come, and it will come. Its time!

I like the attitude, but you have approximately 2 more minutes until Bricklayer or someone else trashes your well put post.

It seems that some people feel that having a good team is bad. Apparently only contenders are important.

and yet we don't even average 100 pts per game

Every NBA player can score 20 points a night under right circumstances.

It is very simple - You want to win - You need low post presence and we don't have any.

Our defensive stats aren't any good except the steals and that is before Bibby comes back.

With Ron back - our turnovers won't go down - that is for sure.

We are at best a mediocre team at full strenght which is the worts that can happen to us

Great Post! I totally agree with your point and this team just gets me very excited thinking about all the great games that lay ahead. We need more of this kind of attitude on this board, keep them coming. Go Kings!:D

Amusing, but some of us are just rather more astute NBA observers than all that.

None of the returnees fixes any of our problems (rebounding, shotblocking, interior play, turnovers), or plays positions which we don't already have covered, hence we get better (maybe -- chemistry will be an issue, minutes, shots etc.) but not dramatically so. And not all the inspirational speeches given by one fan to another can change that.

Now I will say that the emergence of the cheaper bench players may have opened a brief door for us here to get considerably better...but it won't be with this roster. It will be with what this roster can bring back in trade. And it won't land us in the playoffs, not this year, not in the West, so any and all upcoming wins really serve no particular purpose.

See that is the attitude that brings things down in life.

We don't have a post presence, so what?

Other teams don't have a rotation of 6 PG/SG/SF that are all capable of starting. WE DO!

When you look at the negatives in a negative way like you are we are going to get a negative effect, how about look at our positives and there are alot of them.(I would say our positives greatly outweigh our negatives)

So no we don't need a post presence to win.Theres not a standard way or formula to winning, its all about how you look, interpret and do things.
This team has alot to learn and prove but they are more then capable of doing both in the near future. I think you are in for a big surprise..

OptimusRhyme, I agree with everything you wrote... except the part about making the playoff. Don't get me wrong, it'll be great if they do but the math said they won't. The Warriors are currently 8th with a 58% winning perc. So let's say the 58% is the cut off point: to make the playoff we have to go 34-13 the rest of the way (a 72% winning perc). This team is good but they're not that good.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Kings finishes the season strong, maybe even a 50% winning record (even win/loss), but that's not good enough for the PO.

And there's no shame in missing the PO when the Jazz is 9th and the Rockets is 10th. And I'd argue that both teams are playing some good basketball with a win/loss record that should make them automatic playoff teams in a normal setting.

.

How about leadership? How about being the best three players on this team?
How about Artests defensive presence? How about Bibbys clutch factor?
how about Martins Efficiency? How about the depth? I can go on all day posting positives that will outnumber your negatives this team is going to be a winning team from here on out.

If you want too see failure from the Kings this year then thats fine with me thats your point of view.
But I know every player on that team does not want too see failure and they want to win, so they are going to its as simple as that.

i'm curious from your side though as to why you think that you need to convince others (piksi of all people!) to agree with your positive way of thinking. i guess that's what message boards are for. :p

but, it doesn't matter how you or i or anyone here looks at the team; it ain't affecting anything on the court or in the front office, unfortunately.

While I applaud your optimism and positive outlook and support your right to have both, I - as one of the biggest Kings homers on this board - don't see things quite as rosily as you do. But it doesn't matter.

My personal feeling is the Kings are about to turn a corner; about to return to the right path. I do know that it's fun to watch them again and that, to me, is the first step. We still have gaping holes in our line-up, especially at the power forward position and we have veteran players who, whether we want to accept it or not, are either at the peak of their careers or even slightly past it. They will have to be replaced at some point...

Regardless, though, I do agree with your final statement. The best IS yet to come. It may not be time right now, but it will come. And I'm going to enjoy every single step along the way.

:)

Good post. But think of it this way you me or anyone for that matter does not know whats going to happen with other teams, things happen, injuries, loosing streaks, suspensions, trades ect... Those things can all work in the Kings favor when it comes to the standings, our record right now does not indicate what our record will be come playoff time, far from it I think.
Who cares what math says, if its possible its possible.

How do you know? How do you know that the whole starting lineup dosn't come and read our posts after every game? That dosent matter anyways, were fans, we cheer for them, we are supposed to want them to win thats what a true fan is.
Im not trying to change anyone perspective on the Kings I just want people to realize that they are capable of big things and I think when us fans realize that, it makes watching the Kings that much better and it makes us as fans that much better. Thats what being a fan is all about..

Dude, PLEASE do not go down the incredibly tired "that's what being a fan is all about" road. Doing so will pretty much guarantee this thread will be closed.

People are entitled to their opinions on both sides of this and any other issue about the Kings. You have NO right to impose your definition of "true fan" on people any more than anyone else.

You can agree or disagree with other members of this board without resorting to the subjective analysis of which type of attitude makes the better fan.
