Isaiah Thomas watch

For some reason the Suns are creeping up alongside the Clippers and Lakers as my most hated teams.

The signing of IT made you hate the Suns more? I sort of thought the Suns did us a favor by assuring we didn't have to resign IT. I think it's great that IT is scoring 23 a game in limited minutes. Hope he keeps it up and his success grows.

This time, it was the defending champs Isaiah took behind the woodshed. But yeah, definitely not worth $7 million per year, way to go PDA
Along with 28 other GMs who felt the same.

The issue as always is fit and team needs. That some still don't understand that isn't a good look. An undersized, poor defensive guard who looks for his own before setting up others, but can score in bunches when he gets hot, was not worth 7M to all but a single NBA team. The team with the most unusual roster structure and balance in the league is the one who went after him. That says something.

Now if you want to call out the entire league, go right ahead. I may not agree with you, but at least that argument would hold water.

IT was so good he led us to under 30 wins continually. Meanwhile it appears that our defense from the PG position is its best in many, many years. IT is playing off the bench as he should have been all along and possibly could have continued that here if he put the team first before his massive ego.

IT with the help of his publicist Zach Lowe spins it like Phoenix came from out of the blue with this great offer but the truth is Phoenix came from out of the blue with the only offer.

He still insists he wants to start.

Here's the thing for the "I told you so" people. He's playing the exact role we all said he could excel in. He just didn't want to do it here. Heck, he doesn't want to do it there either.

He's a legit 6th man of the year candidate. He was here too till we screwed up and started him. Bench scorer is his best role. It always will be. Hey, now he can score 20 a game and get 3 assists and it's fine. He can play shooting guard, which is what he really is. That's great for the Suns. We needed a pg who could play d and pass and more importantly, understand the flow of the game, when to push, when to slow down. Isaiah has one speed.

Collison is at 8 assists and 4 steals per game right now. Isaiah doesn't have a steal this year, and he avg 3.5 assists. Sure, two games. but lets see how many games it takes for Isaiah to get 8 steals.

How can anyone bash IT's performance??? He's not a pass first pg, and he'll never be, but he's still a great pg. The reason why the Suns won vs the Spurs had A LOT to do with IT. I'm really happy he's thriving in Phoenix. I wish we could've resigned him for our 6th man role, but it was a mutual descion to part away. I'm starting to think people who are saying IT sucks really have something personal against the guy..

That is the exact reason why the Suns brought him in... he's playing off the bench. You guys can look negatively at him all you want, but 7m is a STEAL for IT. Show me someone of his production for anything under 7million.. he's there to score for the Suns. He's a willing passer, but he's not a true passer. Anyone who wants Lillard on this team for a max, but wouldn't want IT on this team for 7million has me shaking my head.. Similar players, except IT is a better scorer, but Lillard is taller.

Absolutely no one has said IT sucks. What people have said is that he wasn't a good fit for the team and apparently wasn't as well liked by his teammates as an integral part of a team probably should be.

Here we go with the fan boys who because a majority of the forum members think and say he should be a 6th man....fan boys spin it where some how it means they or we think he sucks. Not the case. I personally can't stand IT now mostly because of the fanboys blind worship but equally because IT is a me first player. He puts himself above team. His comments and actions imply that ...at least in how I interpret it. Meanwhile, Collison comes in and says all the right things. IT thought he was a leader here...sure the eff doesn't sound or read like it if you read or listen between the lines.

IT would have been a great 6th man here if his ego let him be that. I think a majority of the members would agree. I think if we had him, we win that game against GS in the opener.

Now on the flip side, if IT was still our starting PG, we do not play the type of defense we have demonstrated so,far in this short sample and quite frankly, Curry and Lillard probably go off as PGs have done in the past.

IT as a 36 minute starting PG = missing the playoffs

even if IT keeps this production up through out the season, Phoenix really isn't going anywhere in the West without a solid big man, which they lack. They are WAY too guard heavy.

Dragic, Bledsoe, IT, Ennis, ZDragic, Goodwin, Green.....talented guard group though

I'm starting to think those on one side of the argument fail to even understand the argument they think they're arguing against.

I'd wager you can't find a single post in this website's history which says "IT sucks". Those you have incorrectly labelled as thinking IT sucks, were the ones campaigning for him to be our 6th man and compared him to BJax potentially in that role.

So please, save the drama for someone's mama.

And if you read his interviews he still says he'd prefer to start. He thinks he can start. Even on a team that clearly has better point guards of starting quality he has it in his mind that some day he'll start.

The guy had(has?) a major attitude problem and if he was willing to set aside his ego we'd all have loved him. I advocated for keeping him as a 6th man as well as most here that are being branded haters. I felt 6 million was the ceiling but sure I'd have stretched to 7. The problem though is he would have been a cancer if we didn't let him go and he didn't get to start. Maybe the change of scenery is an eye opener for him. Or maybe he'll be back to his old tricks by midseason. Maybe he'll get lucky and one of the other guards will get hurt and he'll get to start.

Saying someone is a legit 6th candidate is a far cry from saying "IT sucks."

The thing though about IT on the Suns is that if he isn't scoring, he's probabky not going to get many minutes. He doesn't contribute much otherwise, and they have two guards who do. Better be lights out every game. I think he'll be up and down with the Suns. And I think there's an inevitability that he won't always be so happy being the third wheel.

The fanboys seem to lack both basketball and basic English comprehension skills.

lmao, I'm a fanboy? Did you read my other replies to this thread, or even the one right after???

Or uhh even this one?

I'm glad the Kings did not bring IT back. He doesn't provide the things that the Kings needed. He fits perfectly at Phoenix being a 6th man off the bench. I remember several times hearing Grant and Jerry praising IT for keeping the play alive...while this is what he was doing the entire time,....

These are the types of plays that killed our team last year.

Or maybe this one?

I agree, but I think IT has nothing to do with us anymore. I'm glad this hasn't turned into STR where all they do is talk about IT.. A thread about the team's future success automatically turns into a "I miss you IT" thread. I find it a little absurb on how some people especially Kings fans love someone like IT so much to the point where anything else positive about the team doesn't matter because we've lost IT.

This wasn't from here, but I think it's just interesting how other kings fans see IT as our golden guy. I hope we can have more discussions about our current players and current team moving forward. This is the best website for kings fans because I think here, everyone gets a valid opinion.

Nothing personal against you, but before you start calling people fanboys and stuff, you should really look more into it...

Read my comment above too. I'll go through all these threads and find all the people along with their quotes saying IT sucks.. I mean it's pretty evident a lot of people don't like him here, which is ok, but to write him off and continue to talk negatively because he didn't fit with the Kings?

How do you know he won't always be happy as a "3rd" wheel. So many assumptions with 0 evidence. How do you know if he can't score, he won't get a lot of minutes? How do you know that both Bledsoe and Gordon will be able to contribute every night consistently?

Thanks for the comment. I apologize for my lack of English. You need to work on giving me stats and facts for all these assumptions you've made. I'll be waiting for them. Take your time..

How do you know he wasn't well liked though? A lot of this is based off assumptions. I'm not saying IT should've been resigned, but there's a lot of dislike for him here. I don't understand where it comes from..

The fact that he has been taking pot shots at DMC since the day he signed with Phoenix isn't a clear indication of what was going on?

Would you really like me to spend my time going back through the threads and looking for people saying he sucks and speaking negatively about him? I don't want to waste my time doing it, because even if I did, you'd never respond back to it. Just a waste of time for everybody. Again, please re read all my other replies on this thread and from other threads regarding IT.

Again, you've stated

When has he taken shots at DMC? All I remember was a Twitter reply that had no content to it. Come on...IT never talked bad about anyone. I'm not defending IT, but the dislike for IT is REAL. This is the exact opposite of STR.. It would be scary to see the two sides collide. I'm just in the middle

Look at the comments from returning players during training camp, the recently emerged Cuz v. IT conflict (in which IT has conducted himself like a petulant teenager).

No one really dislikes him. What most people are against are his brand of me-first Heroball from a starting PG. Also, he absolutely showed no commitment to defense.

There is a HUGE difference between saying someone "sucks" and speaking negatively about someone.

I disliked that IT too. I'm glad we have Collison on this team over IT. I don't know why people continue to bring up IT.. he's playing well for Phoenix, good for them.

Well, this thread is title "Isaiah Thomas Watch", what are people supposed to talk about here?

Ok, the English thing was low and a bit personal. I apologize for that.

Before the season even started he was saying he wants to start. He signed with a team that has two better pgs than he is. There's aren't enough basketballs. The guy getting the short end will likely be Isaiah. Sometimes he'll be the star. Sometimes he won't. But happy being the 3rd wheel? Nothing I know of him indicates he'd ever be happy with that.

How do I know if he can't score he won't play? Cause the Suns have a good coach? Why else would you play him? Sometimes his fans don't seem to realize what it is he is good at.

I dislike his style,of play. Absolutely. Go to STR if you want to hear how great he was/is and what a mistake we made.

I just finished watching the Jazz destroy PHX tonight. Tough shooting night for IT....but in general, the Jazz size was too much for PHX. Favors couldn't be stopped. PHX is going live and die with that outside shot and guard penetration. When those guards don't hit shots it's going to be fugly. They got IT but I don't know if they are going to be better than their record from last year.
