Is Brockman leaving? (split)

I am a little upset I heard Koz talking about Brockness and how the org loves him but he prob will not be back next year. to me that is a huge step back, teams need a guy who can play defense, rebound, and flat out hustle. plus he is a fan favorite. sure he is short. but is a great team/ community guy and I think he would resign cheap since we are close to Washington and Spencer is here.

Brockness is wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than Dorsey who Kings have a team option. I will be seriously upset if he isnt resigned.

reminds me of Chucky Brown, Jon Barry, Jim Jackson, Bobby Jackson the guy every fan can relate to.

I think it's really unfortunate that Brockman got injured. That one injury may have cost him his entire NBA career.
 
Depends on alot of stuff. We will be trading a little this offseason, if we needs bodies, he will be back, if we draft a 2nd round pick worth taking a look at, he is SOL. BUT, the good thing about brockman is we can always get him later. Brock seems like a loyal kind of guy, but he will do what is best for him, and if a team wants to pay him to play NBA ball, well, he will take it. I would recommend that the kings try to retain him for as long as possible for as cheap as possible because, while his ceiling is low his hustle and effectiveness are unquestionable.
 
I would hate to see Brock go. Hate it.

If we only add one big this offseason that puts us at 5.. That's including Brockman, and assuming we let Dorsey go. I'm fine with those 5 ( Hawes, JT, Landry, Brock, Draft pick or FA) but it depends on what we do this offseason... It will be interesting, that's for sure.

We have eight players definitely under contract next year (Noc, Beno, Cisco, Tyreke, Hawes, Jason, Omri, and Donte). We have team options on Landy and Dorsey. Then, we'd have a first round pick, and a second round pick coming in. That would bring us to twelve players. Then maybe a free agent signing would bring us to thirteen.

It might be a little tight, salary-wise, to bring back Brockman. But he will be inexpensive, and his value for team morale, and toughness is hard to match.

We shouldn't have let him go. After that, we fell under his curse.
 
you know, for all the hustle and fan favorite stuff, the reality is that Brockman has always just been an undersized big on a one year minimum deal, and hence inherently at threat of not coming back, or even necessarily being in the league. But that said, before the injury he seemed to be maybe establishing himself as one of those guys who could get a longer term minimum type deal, be good for chemistry, good practice guy. Just could not afford to get hutr though, as now his status is in question. Do wonder where Koz would come up with "probably not going to be back" though. Any inside information there? Or was he just reading the same stuation (minimum contract, FA at year's end) that has been there all year.

I remember hearing Koz say this as well.
In fact, just before he said this, he said that he doesn't think Spencer will be a King next year either. Pretty interesting. I personally don't think we should give up on either of them just yet.
 
I know I'm alone in this but I'd rather give up Hawes than Brockman. Brockman just has too much of what I like in players, and Hawes doesn't. Also would rather let Dorsey go first.
 
Considering how little playing time Dorsey has been able to garner, I doubt the team will pick up his option. That said, then I can see the team offering another contract to Brockman. Probably league mininum or somewhere close. That would bring them to 10 players with two draft picks to bring it to 12. Still room to sign a freeagent, or who knows, maybe they find another home for Nocioni. It should be an interesting summer. Looks like I'll be going to summer league with Cruzdude. I can't wait..
 
Koz is a nice guy and all, but he isn't exactly a basketball expert.
Teams always have a 5th big who will play for the minimum. Unless there is a demand for undersized bigs who can't score, the Kings should be able to bring him back for that role.

I wish we had Brockman's FIRE in Hawes's Body! Well, Hawes's body with 25 lbs more muscle after an offseason working out to realistically play in the post in the NBA. Beanpoles rarely succeed at the center position in the NBA. I still have no idea how Shawn Bradly lasted as long as he did. Yea, he could block shots, but he was non existent on the offensive end.

I hope there is a spot for Brockman next season. Yes, the Kings will be doing some wheeling and dealing this summer, but when all the dust settles, hopefully the Brockness Monster is still a King. But no one knows how Petrie is going to get this team going. First the draft normally accounts for one roster spot, maybe 2. A free agent would account for 1 roster spot. The Kings have only 10 players on the books for 2010-11 season. A team can carry a maximum of 15 players but only 12 players can be active per game. If Dorsey isn't the player Petrie is looking for, Brockman can still make the team.

Dorsey and Landry are team options and I'm certain that the team will pick up the option on Landry and try to negotiate an extension for Him. Dorsey is going to have to work very hard to keep a roster spot. The Kings need a player who can do the dirty work and mix it up under the rim. Brockman is just that kind of player. I don't think it is a matter of money. It is a matter of how many roster spots are available. If you can only suit up 12 players, which 12 do you choose? Also there is the possibility of trades. Hopefully Petrie can use the pieces we have and add a free agent and a draft pick to create a competitive team with the pieces he has. Brockman picked a bad time to get injured because Petrie is using this time to evaluate the talent he has and Dorsey is getting a lot of consideration. I like Dorsey, but I tend to like Brockman more. I guess we will see how it all shapes up next fall. A lot can happen between now and then.

Brockman is better than Dorsey. They need a guy like that off the bench. And his offense is going to get better over time. Way too early to hear this kind of talk...
 
I to would be very disappointed if Brockman wasn't in the plans moving forward. I think he'll be back just for the simple fact that he's been way too hyped by the org to not be brought back. The only way I see him gone is if another team steps up and offers him a better contract.
 
Brockman is one of my favorite players on this team and I really hope that we don’t let him go. We need to keep this guy in our uniform.
