Been Caught Stealing - Janes Addiction - 90's

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Been_Caught_Stealing

So way back when... I'm in my late twenties, driving down the freeway in San Diego and I look over at the hottest chick I've ever seen in real life driving in the car next to me, and she is in her own world - bobbing her head and mouthing the words to the song on my radio. Just one of those moments that burned this song into my brain as one of the great ones.

I'm really getting annoyed at LPKingsFan picking directly in front of me :p

Alanis Morissette: You oughta Know 90's

[yt=You Oughta Know]OSfGmMmWXyA[/yt]

I know this is kind of a "chick anthem" but its a great song and I love listening to it. I couldn't find the official video so this will do.

Thought this was funny from the wiki article:

Somehow I just can't picture her with "Joey"

Would she "WHAT???" in a theatre?

points for the sultry screen-cap.

And now you're under control
(and now you do what they told you)
Shucks, I have about 3-4 songs I want to pick all right now so nobody else gets them! But I've got to stick with one, so I'm going to select Rage Against The Machine's Killing In The Name (released in November 1992). While I never thought Rage's lyrics were especially...erm...profound, this song straight up rocks.

In fact, it rocks so hard it's difficult to find a "clean" version on YouTube. It was between the Guitar Hero version with some random guy singing (mrrrk!) or this video, which has nothing to do with the song and pulls off a somewhat awkward cut at the end. But despite the little tag on it saying it's explicit, I listened, and this version is clean...

This seems absurd. Do you really have to only link to clean versions of songs in this draft? I mean, if you wanted to link to a song with explicit lyrics, couldn't you just label it explicit and someone at work or at home with children nearby could just opt not to click it? What's the deal? Its not like the video is going to open itself.

I don't really know whether linking to an explicit version is acceptable or not, but I was just trying to be safe. If a mod says it's OK, I suppose I could link to an explicit version with a disclaimer.

You did the right thing. A link to an explicit version would be deleted, as this is a family friendly board. Posting a disclaimer only makes it more obvious that there's something non-family friendly in the link; it dosn't change the situation.

And a paragraph explanation of his quest for a clean version coupled with a link to a video that butchers the song doesn't make it even the most obvious?

Man, this bring me back to the good ole days. Trying to wrap my mind around some of the rules on this board is an exercise at best.

Alright, alright I'm done. No need for PM's. Although I'd admire the keeping of a tradition

You're not even participating in this draft so I don't see the need to address this issue any further.

Have a nice evening.

You know that feeling? The one where you just feel like you wanna skip everybody's turn and get to your own because you know your pick is awesome?!

I got that feeling. Especially because it will probably mess with Slim and I'm a sadist.

Like I said before, I'm really happy the situation is not reversed ;)

Was wondering how long it would take for Rage to crack the board--nice one.

third eye blind - semi-charmed life (90s)

sorry VF, having difficulty finding a proper wiki or allmusic link for this one, but the single was released in the 90s. this song rocks, and is even more fun in a capella version. :D

I Honestly don't know if this will really mess up Slim, and that's not my real intention in picking it. This song is awesome. The most awesome song to ever awesome an awesome:

WAR - Edwin Starr (1970)

[yt=WAR]01-2pNCZiNk[/yt]

There may be some confusion when watching the video. The single was first released by the Temptations on their psychedelic shack album in march 1970. Mounting pressure on Motown by fans of the song forced them to re-record the song and have Starr release it as his single in June 1970, Motown didn't want the Temptations to suffer a political backlash. Which was a good call, because Starr tore it up! I have no idea why the thing says 1969.

So I have a few songs to make me think of my hubby, now it is time to choose something to make me think of my Two Little Princesses and since this song is from one of their favorite movies, I just had to take it! Sorry VF! :p

If I were in this draft, this would be on my list. Classic.
