Interesting 76er gossip AI vs. CWebb

I decided to check out a couple 76er message boards to see how they reacted to Webb's great game tonight. Several posters mentioned that AI seemed to be purposely avoiding giving the ball to Webb when he was open. Many of them seem to think that AI is not going to like it if Webb outscores him, and that he'll do anything to avoid that happening. Interesting theory, though I have no idea if it's true. Hopefully not for the sake of the 76ers season... what a nightmare if AI starts competing against his teammates!!

Nothing new here. Regardless of his talent, AI is an egocentric menace. Philly can have him. That's bad for CWebb. He will continue to live a nightmare there.

I only listened to the game, so I can't say for certain if AI was freezing CWebb out at any point, but both of them got their shots...just couldn't hold a lead with one minute left, and got the doors blown off their car in OT. Lack of their normal starting C is going to hurt --- CWebb only player with double digit rebounds, and he had 10 at halftime (so only 4 after halftime). Don't know what Stephen Hunter was doing all game long --- if a guy like that isn't going to rebound, what is he doing?

I watched most of the game and the entire overtime.

I thought it was interesting, at one point in OT with the 76ers trailing by four Webber had the ball in the high post and AI came off a screen on the wing. Rather than pass the ball Webber took a jump shot and missed. There was some interesting body language indicating displeasure on AI's part.

I didn't see the game, but the fans on the Philly site indicated that there were several times when Webb was open & AI didn't pass to him as well. Hmmm... it could be a battle of two egos this year..with Webb wanting to prove to himself and the fans that last year was just a fluke, and with AI, well, being AI.

I feel that everyone is blowing this way out of proportion. In the first game both Webber and Iverson played very well together and Iverson made a point of feeding C-Webb early. All the different articles I read regarding their mutual chemistry were very poisitive. The main problem the Sixers have is the lack of a third or fourth scoring option. It's amazing how people come to such ridiculous conclusions after one game where both players weren't at their best.

Actually, all the comments I were referring to were after the 1st game where AI & Webb were playing well. And, as I said, I didn't watch the game, but was just passing on what was said on the 76er message boards.

Sixers fan here. Nothing could be further from the truth. Iverson and Webber have had great chemistry so far this season and both are out to prove the critics who say they can't coexist wrong. Webber lost 15 lbs this offseason and his health looks pretty good so far.

Check out the #'s they are pumping in about 55 points per game combined and are clicking just fine. Defense has been the 76ers problem plus they gave a game away to the Bucks. Also the fact they had to play 4 games in 5 days and at Indy and Detroit on their home openers didn't help.

How could Iverson have been "freezing" CWebb out? Webber took 28 shots that game and had 32 points. Just people wanting to hate on Iverson or Webber without probably even watching the game. And yes there are 76ers fans who are AI haters.
