If you were Monte tonight, who would you have taken?

Rules are you either go with the FRP trade he made or no trades at all. Otherwise, pick who you would have gone with out of the players left on the board when the Kings picks were due. We can revisit this thread later and point and laugh at each other or boast that we would have out performed Monte.

I'm taking:

24 - Leonard Miller
38 - Max Lewis
54 - Trayce Jackson-Davis

This is great! Those who vehemently disagree with Monte tonight can leave their record here so we can review them next post-season and see if one of us should be the next Monte replacement... or laugh at ourselves haha

It's gotta be O-Max for a forward, Nick Smith for a guard and James Nnaji for a C.

I have no problem with unloading the pick/holmes contract though, I've often mentioned that I feel like signing Keita Bates-Diop could be far more viable in a win-now sense than drafting some win now forward, who in this scenario would be O-Max, now we have even more roster space and money to throw around.

Assuming No Trades
24 - Maxwell Lewis
38 - Rayan Rupert
54 - Bobi Klintman

Assuming Trades
34 - Maxwell Lewis
54 - Bobi Klintman

With that said, I do like Colby. If Maxwell was gone at #34, he would have been my pick so can’t complain too much.

Klintman withdrew from the draft.

I was on board with taking Leonard Miller or Max Lewis at 24. So as much I liked Jordan Walsh to potentially be the Kings version of Aaron Gordon as an athletic wing defender, I'd have to go:

24 Leonard Miller
38 Max Lewis
54 Isaiah Wong

Wong gets the nod for me over TJD since we need to fill that 3rd PG role and I'm not sure Davis represents an upgrade over shifting Lyles (if re-signed) to small ball center.

EDIT: Out of curiosity I looked up the combine measurements for Davis and Lyles:

TJD:
6'8.25" height w/o shoes
7'1" wingspan
8'10" standing reach
240.4 lbs

Lyles:
6'9" height w/o shoes
7'1.5" wingspan
9'0" standing reach
241.2 lbs

Trey is obviously slimmer now and Davis will likely gain weight/strength as more of a center than a big wing, but interesting to note how similar they are physically.

Thanks. I don’t think my knowledge is wide enough to have an opinion on #54 considering who was available at that pick. I just know I didn’t want to draft TJD. I didn’t know who Slawson was until after we drafted him. His profile, measurements, stats, etc. are interesting. Seems like a good swing at 54.
