Without the hindsight of knowing what kind of players they are now, I'd go with LeBron. He was more of a sure thing straight out of high school, ready to make immediate impact. Kobe was more of a prospect.

I'd have gone with James of the 3. Without hindsight it would be impossible not to. Kobe was a big question mark, AI had serious character issues and James was a sure thing. Now I'm sure the only reason James was considered a sure thing is because of the roads Kobe and a select few other HS draft picks paved, but its hard to change the perception of how both were when they came out if we can't look at their actual performance.

i don't think kobe would be held as high as he is now if he didn't have shaq to help get him 3 rings... this is not to take anything away from his skill set.
