If we don't re sign Dalembert?

I firmly believe resigning dalembert is the #1 goal of this offseason, i don't trust cousins as a full time 5, hes not a good defender (yet at least) and doesn't protect the rim like dalembert, which we will need next year.

So are there any other centers we can go after if we don't sign dalembert?

Two words. Marc Gasol.

i'd like to have deandre jordan. the beauty of daly is that he can guard PF while cousins guards C. thats why that pairing works. I don't know what you would do with gasol and cousins. They are similar in defense

I'd rather have Dalembert than Marc Gasol. If we don't get Dalembert back, this season is over.

Yeah. Just sign him to a nice front loaded contract. We should not allow this possibility if we can help it. We should force Dally to walk away from a lot of money to go play for a contender

The cult of Dalembert really has pumped him up to mythic status. I saw a player that had a defensive impact on games and who made a lot of nifty shot blocks. But I also saw a player who had more goal-tends than anyone I've ever seen and who jacked up a lot of ugly, ill advised, momentum killing shots, too. Remember, there was a reason so many 76ers fans were happy to see him go. Now Kings fans have elevated him to MVP status and the player whose shoulders the future of the Kings rests on. I hope he's resigned too but come on, let's quit overrating the guy.

Ditto for Gasol. He's not the panacea. His game does not complement Cousins' game.

I don't think Gasol is a savior I just think he's the best player available. And a lot of people probably said his game wouldn't work with Randolph's, too.

Yeah but we don't have to "think" that Dally works with Cousins. He has already proven. He has a good health record. That certainty leaves no reason to run around looking for grass is greener scenarios

I agree which is why I hope they resign Dalembert too. But the question was who would they go after if they can't resign Dalembert and my answer is Gasol.

I'd go after Chandler, but I don't know how happy he'd be to play here. The Mavs are probably gonna lock him up too.

At the risk of two posts that say the same thing, I agree. Let us not forget his history of good health. He is not Yao Ming, Sam Bowie, Bill Walton, etc. That's worth something.

Bring on the ice cream in any case.

Its been rumored that Robin Lopez is being shopped. Not quite Dalembert, but you could always start Thompson with Cousins and let Lopez back up Cousins. Lopez, like Dalembert isn't much of an offensive player, but he is a good defender and rebounder.

They can say whatever they want but they don't have nearly as much cap space as the Kings.

On the other hand, they don't need cap space to match any offer sheet (though they could almost certainly do that under the cap). Last year they had nine major pieces - by this I mean guys that played an average of 20 MPG. Of these, only Gasol and Battier are not under contract with them next year. Even so, their payroll is $36-37M. I believe that they will indeed match any offer.

That doesn't include the extension for Randolph. that brings it up to the 52-53 million range.

I would love to see Daly back, but let him go if you have to pay a huge amount to get him to stay and/or he doesn't really want to stay. For 10-11 million a year you better at least be able to catch the ball. :p

Lopez would be a good fall back but what about Whiteside? The guy is going to at the very least be a force in the paint defensively as a shotblocker. I think it's time to see what he can do if Daly doesn't really want to come back and it would take a large sum of money to get him to stay.

This^^^ If we don't re-sign Dalembert, I think we should go after DeAndre Jordan before we go after Gasol or Nene, it just makes better sense from an on the court compatibility sense. We don't need another guy that needs 15 shots a game to be effective like Gasol...sure he grabs 11 rebs, but what he's lacking in weak side defense discounts that. Jordan seems to have more upside defensively, which is what we need along side Cousins, IMO.

If I'm not mistaken, teams can match offers for their RFAs regardless of their cap situation, at least according to the current CBA. So if they intend to match any offer for Gasol, cap is not an issue and they can retain him if they wish to do so.

Grant has taken a few calls on Dalembert today. He seems pretty convinced he is gone. Says he wants to play somewhere else, Sac is not on his wish list .. wants to win now. Gives Kings about a 20% chance to keep him.

Obviously Grant is wrong more than he is right, but this is how a lot of people feel unfortunetly.

So here is my list, in no order, of a few names (realistic ones!) I wouldnt mind picking up. Some for the third big spot, some for the fourth.

Joel Pryzbilla
Nazr Mohammed
Kenyon Martin
Low Amundson
DeAndre Jordan
Brandan Wright
Kris Humphries
Kyrylo Fesenko

Then Guys that we could trade for..
Marcus Camby
Brook Lopez
Anderson Varajao
Josh Smith
