if rudy opts out and leaves..

I use to think Parsons was a good two way player but his defence during the Portland series was dreadful, in saying that I would rather have Parsons moving forward over Rudy so I would say 8mil a season over 3-4 years is somewhat fair but someone will pay him more. I just don't see the point of giving a 3rd option anymore than 8million tbh even if Chandler has a nice all round game.

My first thought when you mentioned Chandler Parson was him guarding Damian Lilard taking that winning shot that handed Houston the fishing rods. :)

Anyway, I think he'll be good addition if Rudy leaves as long as the $$ he takes does not close to half of Rudy's.

However, based on PDA's last public speeches, I don't think Rudy will walk.
I'd be happy if Rudy takes the long term contract at a discounted price, though.

I wouldn't go after Parsons, but go all-in for Deng. A proven veteran who's still one of the best defenders in the league, a good teammate and offensively pretty good aswell. Would provide the needed veteran leadership. If not, I'd go after Ariza, although I think the Wiz will try to bring him back.

Ariza, Deng...................................Parsons. If Gay leaves their won't be a player available that will replace Gay as a #2 option. We will be forced to fill the void with someone to help anchor the defense. We also have a HUGE need for seasoned veterans. Ariza and Deng address both needs. Parsons not so much. This is of course how I would do it. Pretty unlikely that PDA would see it the same way.

Obviously the roster needs improvement and I realize that people like to play GM and explore what-if scenarios. However, I have yet to hear a plausible reason why Rudy would opt out. He'll make a lot more here next season than anywhere else, and the best way to ensure future big paydays is to play well here. He's had only part of a season playing with Demarcus; there is a lot of potential there that needs more time and some roster adjustments to develop.
