Thoughts? Jamal Crawford could be another possibility. #5+? for #11+s&t Jamal Crawford. We take Henson with #11?

if the kings acquire a guard without shipping out what we have i wont be happy

This. Guard is not a need. I won't be majorly pissed off if we take a guard depending on who it is, and depending on subsequent moves. If we add another guard and stand pat, that is ineptitude.

Crawford is not worth trading down 5 spots. We don't need another guard, a Reke, Thornton, IT rotation is fine. We also don't need to be creative in this draft. Keep the 5th pick, we are sure we will get MKG, Robinson or Drummond.

Even if we wanted Crawford, why would we trade down when we could sign him as a free agent. He is opting out of his contract and we were very close to signing him last year when he chose Portland because its closer to home.

I hope we keep the 5th pick. I would hate to get someone worse than 5th in this draft. even if we get a veteran by the time we make playoffs they are gonna be too old to do any good. im all for young talent. worked for the Thunder

There is no reason why this team cannot make the playoffs THIS year with the right moves. Except for coaching and the front office NOT making the right moves. We already have more talent than a number of the playoff teams. What we need is glue. If we can't get it at #5, then the proper move, by a competent fully funded organization, would be to use that asset in trade to get it from elsewhere.

wasn't salmons the glue we traded for?

I agree we have a lot of talent but with how bad we were last year I dont see the playoffs in our immediate future. its not often teams turn around that bad of a season with playoffs the next season.

I think Salmons was brought in to be a good defensive player at SF (our weakest position). Obviously, that didn't work out too well. I think the bigger problem was that Westphal showed he had no idea how to use the players he had (especially Cousins). That resulted in the Kings pretty much wasting training camp, which was already shortened to begin with.

I know a lot of people weren't all that impressed with Smart as head coach, but he had to try to completely rework the team philosophy (or install one to begin with) with almost no practices. That is why I am holding off judgement on Smart until I see what he does with this team while having a training camp to work with.

I think Big Cuz's point was that we already tried trading down to get said "glue" asset. The result was Salmons. What makes us think that the second time would be any better?

If the Kings acquire a guard, I will pop Gavin right in the throat. Seriously, I may crush George's thorax.

Without meaning any kind of disrespect, this is one of the worst polls you've created.

Mass says it best:

That's true except usually teams who have that bad of a season lack talent...which is not a problem for us. It is within reason that we could make the playoffs next season, with the right additions.

I almost feel like the Maloofs have purposely crafted this team to be as bad and low cost as possible while stacking up as much young talent as possible....just so when they moved to Anaheim they would sign a few good players and be an instant playoff team and explode in popularity.

The only guard I have interest in is Kendall Marshall and that's because having two functioning PGs in this league makes a big difference.

Beal is talented, but that forces you into the OP's trade situation, and I don't trust Petrie making a trade. Especially not when the entire league knows he has to make a trade and they see the Kings as the wastebin to dump their less desirables.

We already have two functioning PG's in Reke and IT. Until there's a trade involving IT/Reke/MT, there's absolutely no reason to pick up another PG, unless it's a proven NBA starter(Lowry/Dragic) in which case the backcourt becomes player_x/Reke.

Too bad OKC doesn't have two functioning PG's. Too bad Mia doesn't have two functioning PG's either. Maybe they'd make the playoffs if they did.

Are we still on that Evans-is-a-PG stuff? He killed Kevin Martin's career here and he took a big bite out of MT23's career this year.

Yes because both guys have been so special elsewhere. Apparently CP3 and Kyle Lowry have killed their careers as well, the bastards.

MT23 was special last year when Evans was out or coming off the bench. That's a fact. This year, he stunk (he stopped passing, shot worse), and it's all Evans' fault.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on the internet. EVER.

Really? I thought he surpassed it with his following post.

If that's not trolling I don't know what is. Normally might just be a joke, but given how much of this crap he spews in game threads, all season long, he means it, 100%.
