Honestly I look at this comming season as a transitional season. In fact I sould not be surprised if the powers that be have not already "written it off" New coach and a new style of play new team in may ways and lots of young tallent to evaluate. Not to mention a couple of expiring contracts. So you tell the coach, "have fun see what the kids can do let us know what to look for an and the following year we will compleet the package. Do your best but what we lear will be more importatn than how far we go."
That being said baring a big deal taht lands a serious big man I see the Kings making the play offs and maybe even nabing a 4 or 5 seed taht might give them a shot at making round 2.
That's about right. We do have lots of ? marks right now with the new coach, new defensive focus (still having Bibby & Miller who lack this to an infinite degree), not making big trades yet, not signing/or trading Bonzi, still having KT as a guy that must start or doesn't show up. We have lots of question marks, but I like what I saw when Artest came here and I like what I hear about Amundson, he's not our ultimate answer, but the guys got heart and will do the grunt work for us. We are a real hardworking blue collar team. We still need out big 4/5 guy though that can do what Miller cannot. If we do decide to keep Miller than we need a heck of a 4 guy in the ball park of KG to win it all. If you look at Dallas and Miami...they have a group of big guys 3-5 that can be used when the game demands it. We also desperatly need to improve our bench to what it was with Hedo, Wallace, etc etc in 01-02' era. We have a young bench with potential, but we need to get better backup guards then Hart and the young Price...look at what the Clippers did with Sam Cassell, that guy brings such leadership there. We have Corliss which is a good locker room rah rah guy, but didn't get much playing time with Adelman.
It will be an interesting year with the new coach, young guys emerging, 11M coming off the books, not this coming year, but next(Corliss, Potatoe Head, Hart), hopefully we can rid ourselves of KT this preseason and get our title chances clearly in focus. Magloire would help a lot, Mourning would be tremendous for us...but I don't see him leaving Miami.
I also wouldn't write off SAR...he should be a lot better now if he stays healthy, he isn't the defensive stopper we need, but sure gives us a great offensive lift, maybe we can work it to have a defensive sub in for Brad when SAR plays and a vise versa.
I have high hopes for this team...it sure has been fun to watch coming from being a big Bulls fan in Chicago (Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman). I sure hope though that we can keep the Kings in Sacramento. We are way to loyal and have such a close knit community to let them leave.
