I really think next year is our year

I have not had a feeling like this but i have a feeling we'll take the title Ron has something to prove and even though Eric Musselman has to do adjustments with the team it won't be long until we're shineing next year.

does anyone else think next year is our year?

GO KINGS!!!!

I think next year will be interesting but I do not think we're anywhere close to putting a team on the floor that can win it all... not yet.

Have to agree with VF.

Not only that depending on what moves are next I am actually pretty worried about this year.

BUT ... I like the Kings spirit Joker!!!

New coach and some new faces will make it interesting, that's for sure.

But as far as it being "our year", I tend to doubt that.

We've still got a couple years to go imo.

As long as Garcia/Matrin/Douby develop into what they are capable of than we should be a good team for a long time. Plus we have Bibby, and Artest. Basically we are lacking big men that are consistant.

im not sure what to expect this year but i sure as hell am excited...

new coach, younger team and a training camp under this group of players come the start of the season...

were not favourties for winning a championship, and i dont think wehre contenders just yet, basing on the roster we do have, which i might add is still very talented none the less...

but once again, although we may not be contenders, who knows... just like last yr but the roles were reversed, when alot of people thought, including myself, that we would be at least in the top eight with the roster we had last year at the start, especially due to the way it did look... miller, abdur-rahim, peja, wells and bibby and as well as the expectations of kenny coming of the bench to produce mabye 6th man type numbers... mabye even the expectation of jason hart being solid as a backup pg due to his career high numbers at charlotte...

newayz... i can't wait till the end of TDOS....!

GO KINGS!!!!

Not yet. A couple of moves and we could be contending. Our roster is still very talented, we just need more defense.

whooooaaaaa not to fast there :) i like the team better than the beginning of last year for sure. we have to figure out what to do w/ our front court before we can contend for a title. our last line of defense isn't great. hopefully petrie will do something to shake it up and bring in a defensive presence.

unless we can get a big man to clog the paint we will NEVER win a championship. Teams can simply run lay-up drills past Miller and 2nd string opposing centers will constantly have 20pt/15reb career nights.

we're not gonna win with kenny thomas at pf...we still need solid bigs who can defend, whether that means getting rid of brad and kenny or just kenny, fact is our interior defense and rebounds needs to be at a much higher level.

As long as we make the right moves and the young guns improve then I'm confident we'll get it done in the next few years.

with the team as is right now we will be 5th seed or better. we had one of the best records in the league after the all-star break once we got Ron. All that was with a coach who never pressed never preached defense to ppl like Bibby and Miller and wasn't quick to jerk a starter if we was being out performed. Now with Musselman and Ron getting more comfortable with the team and vice versa. I feel like we can carry that record after the break to the next level and come up with a 55 to 60 win season with no problem. Now all that said if we do somehow sure up our front court be it with FA or one of the kids exploding in the NBA on the defensive side well i feel we would have a legit shot at something big in the playoffs. I am not really sure how anybody that watched the last half of the season could not feel this way but, i am sure some of you will.

Without any changes - we will continue to struggle in the mediocrity
Well, piksi, there have been some changes. So I'm guessing you mean some kind of moves involving what's left of the recent Kings - Miller, Bibby and perhaps referring to Wells. I agree basically. What I'm not in the mood for is assembling a team that's just another collection of fair to decent players that will be above average for a year and not have a longer term plan to get us there. I don't see any reason to mix things up without that longer term view in mind.

Honestly I look at this comming season as a transitional season. In fact I sould not be surprised if the powers that be have not already "written it off" New coach and a new style of play new team in may ways and lots of young tallent to evaluate. Not to mention a couple of expiring contracts. So you tell the coach, "have fun see what the kids can do let us know what to look for an and the following year we will compleet the package. Do your best but what we lear will be more importatn than how far we go."

That being said baring a big deal taht lands a serious big man I see the Kings making the play offs and maybe even nabing a 4 or 5 seed taht might give them a shot at making round 2.

That's about right. We do have lots of ? marks right now with the new coach, new defensive focus (still having Bibby & Miller who lack this to an infinite degree), not making big trades yet, not signing/or trading Bonzi, still having KT as a guy that must start or doesn't show up. We have lots of question marks, but I like what I saw when Artest came here and I like what I hear about Amundson, he's not our ultimate answer, but the guys got heart and will do the grunt work for us. We are a real hardworking blue collar team. We still need out big 4/5 guy though that can do what Miller cannot. If we do decide to keep Miller than we need a heck of a 4 guy in the ball park of KG to win it all. If you look at Dallas and Miami...they have a group of big guys 3-5 that can be used when the game demands it. We also desperatly need to improve our bench to what it was with Hedo, Wallace, etc etc in 01-02' era. We have a young bench with potential, but we need to get better backup guards then Hart and the young Price...look at what the Clippers did with Sam Cassell, that guy brings such leadership there. We have Corliss which is a good locker room rah rah guy, but didn't get much playing time with Adelman.

It will be an interesting year with the new coach, young guys emerging, 11M coming off the books, not this coming year, but next(Corliss, Potatoe Head, Hart), hopefully we can rid ourselves of KT this preseason and get our title chances clearly in focus. Magloire would help a lot, Mourning would be tremendous for us...but I don't see him leaving Miami.

I also wouldn't write off SAR...he should be a lot better now if he stays healthy, he isn't the defensive stopper we need, but sure gives us a great offensive lift, maybe we can work it to have a defensive sub in for Brad when SAR plays and a vise versa.

I have high hopes for this team...it sure has been fun to watch coming from being a big Bulls fan in Chicago (Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman). I sure hope though that we can keep the Kings in Sacramento. We are way to loyal and have such a close knit community to let them leave.

Well, assuming Wells/Artest continue behaving well, Bibby/Wells/Artest with Martin subbing in is about as good as you can get at the perimeter positions. It's pretty frickin' sweet really.

The big men are more questionable but nothing that you can't work with. Brad is still one of the best centers in the league. I think he just needs the right PF next to him.

If the Kings can find the right fit at PF then it wouldn't be tooo surprising if they took it all.

Edit - This is assuming you keep Bonzi. Although I'm not sure you lose a whole lot if he leaves and Martin fills in for him, anyway.

As it currently stands, no its not.

We should make the playoffs, but there are risk factors even there -- Ron has to stay stable, our coach has never made the playoffs in the NBA and alienated players at his last stop. But on talent, we should make the playoffs, perhaps even snag a 4th seed behind Dallas/San Anton/Phoenix. Maybe. Of course this is the same way the Nuggets were thinking last year after their late season charge in 04-05. Didn't work out that way.

We need at least one major move to even make this a realistic discussion. And I mean major. Not something like signing Lorenzen Wright, but a shakeup move.

We also need to resign Bonzi to not have actually gone backward this summer. Without him we likely get swept a couple of months ago, and these sorts of threads aren't even popping up.

I am basically on the same page as Brick here. Without a major move I am thinking 35 or so wins. Little more little less

You never know, everyone thought the Spurs or Detroit were a lock to win the title this year.

Unfortunately this isn't a team where you can say, "Go win it in a couple of years!" Artest is a FA in 2 years and the way FA is you never know whats going to happen. Or whats going to happen with him at all.

At least we have a lot of young talent, but the core players we have, have to win now, or at least show they can win now.

35?

I'm actually thinking considerably more than that. I don't consider 35 totally inconcievable if everything went wrong (some key injuries (Mike (no adequate backup) or Ron especially) chemistry issues, Ron starts to regress etc.), but that's a pretty pessimistic assessment based on our overall talent. If we were to win 35 there would have to be a lot of question about Muss -- might even be enough to make Adelman a cult hero. Not really expecting it though.

That's the thing. I mean, you can have a good idea, but in the end you never know.

I mean everyone expected Detroit/SA this year, and, well... There you go.

I just keep my mind open to the possibility and stay happy :) I say, there's no reason why we can't, and I certainly don't want the Kings to just wait until next year because this year "isn't our year".

Well I had the lowest prediction last year and we still won less then my prediction so I will go on my good sense and say with this roster we will not win more then 35.

I am thinking new coach, the Ron honeymoon is over and the team hasn't really changed at all. This is gonna be a pretty ugly year IMO..This is not a roster that is going to win games consistantly. Actually this roster scares the crap of me. We need a move to bring us someone that can score.
