It's only one half, but thus far it's been FUN!

If this is the new era, the culture change, I can live with it. And I can say this without having to degrade DeMarcus Cousins in any way. (I hope others can do the same.)

What I'm seeing tonight will go a long ways towards reuniting the fan base.

It's a good night to be a Kings fan.

you were not wrong. vlade did lie to everyone. he is not a good gm and showed it by not getting the best offer in the trade as well as not getting anything before the trade deadline. we were a good team before the break with a good coach. we beat the cavs and warriors and won 4 of their last 5. i hated losing demarcus as much as you did, and hated what the front office was doing, but despite all of that we are kings fans. we would have cheered for this team whether this trade turned out good or bad. hopefully it keeps trending towards the good.

The complaining... I have to be honest, I have only been to a couple games, and have only watched a handful of games this year. I got tired of the constant whining by Cousins and Barnes. Cousins was never going to win here if he kept that same whiny attitude. Not to mention I assume it probably got tiresome. We had a complainer at work once, and it got REAL OLD REAL FAST. I was all for Cousins when he got here, but I am glad he's gone.

I couldn't find a Grades thread to put this in,
but WCS really got me in DIRE need for a Dire Straits clip to speak for me... :D

PLEASE, can anyone cut and add that part of the immortal "Walk of Life"?

He got the action, he got the motion,
Oh yeah, the boy can play!

Can't say I was surprised as this was a possibility IMHO. 26 assists and 72 bench points from 3 kids and Tyreke, a double-double from DC 15pt & 10ast. Willie was a monster, Hield is for real and Skal has stepped up. Everyone sharing the ball and running and hustling and fast breaking, stuff we're not used to.

Cousins had 29 in his NOLA debut +14 reb, 5 ast, 5 stl, 4 bulk and only 1 TO. Hell Casspi even had 12 pt!

No way will this keep up.

This was a dog and pony show - Denver barely tried.
They repeatedly quick-shot bad 3's, barely tried on defense, and if the refs allowed the Kings to play handsy defense like this when Demarcus was here, they would have been a top 4 seed in the West.

Did anyone notice the refs, the clock-keeper, and Michael Malone all allowed the ball to be resting on the ground in the backcourt in front of Lawson, with the game clock running down, yet the shot clock was staying at 24, and noone said anything?!
I've never witnessed that in all my years of watching the NBA -
this was a gift game from the league to the Kings, because the Kings org probably whined to the league, saying their bottom line was in danger, blah blah.

I know we all see what we want to see, but it's games like this that reveal the inner-workings of the NBA to me - showing how much the league can dictate who wins a game, IMO.

The shot clock doesnt start until offensive player touches the ball, Ty let it roll and no one challenged him, Game clock is running. Also this could be the most embarassing post ive seen in a while.

Being wrong is not the worst possible thing. Far worse is not being willing to consider whether you might be wrong or not. I did not expect what I saw on the court tonight. I don't know if that can keep up, but I hope it does.
Everyone that believes the trade was hokum hopes they're wrong because that would mean the Kings are good :)

That said, it's one game. Against what is statistically the worst defense in the NBA. Like Summer League, let's not overreact. If they play like this consistently and against quality teams, I'll gladly admit I was wrong about them being markedly worse w/o Cousins.

But two things I still know for certain is that they received too little in return and could have been more patient in ensuring they received as much as possible -- even if that meant waiting until Summer or next trade deadline -- and that the way things were handled was deceitful and unprofessional. Those two things won't change. But hopefully the Kings W/L fortunes do.

i didnt know the game clock could start without anyone touching it though.

The time was running because there was more than 2 minutes remaining in the game. If there had been less than 2 minutes, the clock would have remained stopped until someone touched the ball.

No they wouldn't have. People were tired of the constant complaining. I stopped going to games, and didn't watch them on TV for about half the games because I was tired of it. It was near impossible to get someone on the team that has chemistry with Cousins. He's a monster talent alone, but not a team player in the least. If I had to guess, I assume players on the Kings were tired of all the negativity that comes with Cousins. (most of the negative attitude coming from Cousins) He was not going to win here. Maybe he will win somewhere else, but I don't think he will have much to do with the actual winning until he gets an attitude adjustment.

One game doesn't change anything, you were not wrong. That said, if I've learned anything from Star Wars, hope is good.

This team will struggle against teams with high defense, high IQ. They will compete against your Portlands, Denvers, Suns, *akers, etc.

So basically the same as its been with Cousins the last seven years?Got it.

people are polarized and dug deep into trenches re DeMarcus and it's too bad. I'm just going to enjoy the ride. If the kids play and put forth effort like this for the rest of the year, then I'll be happy whether that means an underdog playoff run or losing their way to the bottom 10. Tonight was exciting and would have been exciting even if they lost.

it's hard to draw contrast to the way it was last week before Vivek & Vlade destroyed the franchise without making it seem like you're slamming DMC, but honestly.... everybody was running on every play - there was no taking a play off to gripe (well AT did it once but that's all). That was pretty cool. I doubt it will result in a playoff berth but it will make it worth the price of admission.

I guess the horrible outcome would be to come up just short in a playoff run with say the 11th worst record, and still lose the pick to Chicago. I guess I hope that enough other teams play well so we can finish 10th worst without being horrible.

Respect you Gary, but this is a ridiculously naive statement. The "anti-Cousins because he complains too much" crowd keeps trying to tie wins and losses to his demeanor, body language, and bickering with officials when no correlation exists.

The real reason he wasn't winning here stems from the fact that the team has received no major impact from any of the past 6 1st round draft picks the team has made. That's a fairly significant development, don't you think? Add to it the fact that the only legit teammates he ever had (Tyreke Evans and Isaiah Thomas) were traded for returns that also yielded no impact. How is anybody supposed to win when you don't add any meaningful pieces to the puzzle? Riddle me that.

The Warriors were winning games at the same or similar clip as the Kings during Steph Curry's first 3 seasons. However, unlike the Kings, they hit the jackpot with their draft picks in 2011 and 2012 with Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Festus Ezeli and Harrison Barnes and suddenly turned a corner -- fast.

Not so oddly, ALL of those players were available to the Kings. Had they landed each of them to add to Cousins, we wouldn't be having this discussion. That's the point. Nobody is going to win here until they start making sound decisions in the draft and with trades/free agent picks ups. That's continues to be an ownership and front office problem and has nothing to do with DeMarcus Cousins' complaining. You can dislike the complaining all you want. But you're misappropriating it for the real reasons outlined above.

It was a fun game, but it was just one game. I think we caught Denver off guard, but what I enjoyed, was that once we got them down, we didn't let them back up. Lots of hustle and most of our shots were falling. I think this team could be effective against teams that like to go small. If Willie can keep improving on offense, his quickness will be a problem for other teams. I thought Skal played fairly well tonight. Obviously he still needs to get stronger, but I liked that he wasn't afraid to get into the paint and bang a little. Hield was as advertised.

Either Joerger did a beautiful job of managing the rotations tonight, or he got real lucky. Can't wait to see what saturday brings.

You may have been wrong? No @#$% sherlock. Go ahead delete my post. Cousins has been bringing this team down for 6 and a half years and it is finally over. Man I can't believe how long it took. What spell did Cousins have cast around here?

I don't think you or anyone who disagreed with the trade were wrong. It was probably time to move on from Cousins, but that doesn't mean the trade wasn't horribly put together. There was no reason to disrespect Cousins by lying to his face, and then ruining his All-Star experience by dealing him WHILE the game was still going. Might have been able to get another asset if we waited til Thursday, as well. We'll see.

I think any other player on the team other than Barnes gets treated differently. There is no telling what Cousins might do if he knew he was traded. He already screwed up the better deal we had by having his agent be uncooperative with the trade. You have to consider who you are dealing with. Cousins is not nice.

What exactly would you prefer his agent do? This is a business still right? Cousins getting traded cost him $30 million. If his agent wasn't try to influence any trade, he's not a very good agent. It's the nature of the game.

That still doesn't mean you go into the All-Star break by looking to trade Cousins before the game is over. Show some respect and at least work on a trade on Monday. I'm sure his agent screwed that up, but the leaks that day were very concerning.

It is what it is. The Kings made a decision. I think the right decision for a lot of very good reasons. The trade happening during the Allstar game was not intentional I'm sure. I mean to what end? Who does that on purpose? They made it because that was the time they had to do it. What does it matter anyway? Get over it. Cousins is already showboating on another team and lost BTW. They where playing the Rockets, but same old story so far. If only the Pelicans could get some good players......................................................................

If the agent and Cousins thought the Kings would keep Cousins because they ruined his trade value, they thought wrong. Obviously the Kings where going to trade him come what may. I take my hat off the Vlade for doing the brave thing. What needed to be done.
