You can almost pick genders and/or ages by these lists....but, not quite. ;)

I hate the Austin Powers movies.

I also detest anything with Jim Carey.

In both cases...just stupid, stupid, stupid.
Ooooo...someone pull that knife out of my back!

;) You can tell from my avatar that I'm a fan of dumb comedies. I agree the sequels became a little much, but the original Austin Powers and the first Ace Ventura were brilliant!

I'm not a particular fan of historical films, but I loved Braveheart and Gladiator (if you can call them historical). I also usually detest fantasy (LOTR), but I love the Harry Potter movies.

Here's another knife, D-Mass.

Jim Carey is horrible. I attempt to watch Ace Ventura, or The Mask, or Liar, Liar, or ANY Jim Carey movie and I find my self thinking every time..."Why the hell do people laugh at that idiot?!"

Austin Powers was also stupid...Don't know why, but I just hated it.

The movie I hate with a passion is

My sister loved this movie that might have added to my hatred of this movie. The music alone has to be the worst movie music of alltime.

Note to self: never listen to John sing again.

not the hugest Jim Carrey fan but.................................one of my all time favorite movies "Me, Myself, and Irene" has Carrey at his best. Check it out if you haven't already. Its a completely different side to him, "R" rated side.

Sheesh! Alright already! Stop kicking a horse while he's down, will ya?

I won't try to convince you to like Jim Carrey...I understand he's the type you either love or hate.

Can I interest you in Monty Python? Vaudeville? Bill Irwin? Comedy at all?

Now you're talking, D. Monty Python is probably the best comedy of all time.

Monty Python is the best!! I'm so glad that I now have BBC on my Comcast cable because they show re-runs. And it's nice to know there is another Bill Irwin fan out there. I haven't seen tons of his work, but I did really enjoy his recurring role on 'Northern Exposure'.

Here's another critically-acclaimed movie that I didn't last more than a half-hour through: 'Broadcast News'. And this earned a four-star rating?? Maybe I just didn't get it. Or maybe all that 80's businesswear got to me too much.

Titanic - a sappy, corny soap opera wrapped around grandiose special effects and costumes. 'As Good as it Gets' was robbed of the Oscar!

One of mine is Braveheart. I was so bored that I fell asleep.

no way in hell gladiators on this list. if u think it sucks, then u hate good acting, drama, suspense, action, great directing, great scene plots, and everything else thats incorporated into making a good movie.

^^^wow, u really do NOT know movies then. What a shame.
There is no need to personally attack people just because they don't like the same movies as you do. I think you're getting a little too passionate about this thread.

I like your list; I feel the same way. Pirates of the Caribbean is so overrated and I can't believe I got sucked into it.

you people are KILLING me, LOTR, harry potter, star wars are among my favorite all time movies! same with gladiator.

hated:

monsters ball: that was a horrible movie. the story sucked, so did the acting. i don't know how in hell halle berry won the oscar, becuase she was awful.

AI, artificial intelligance: i couldn't even finish the damn thing. it was horrible. Waaaaaay too much going on

one flew over the cookoo's nest: i will say this though, the acting was fantastic. the story was what i hated. they KILLEd the book, and that really pissed me off. i enjoyed the book very much, and to see it be destroyed like that really made me mad.

ben hur: i thought it was about chariot races, it was mostly about jesus and religion. i was very disappointed

signs: very disappointing movie, very boring. plus the alien dudes were really wierd and fake looking

excalibur: boooooring. i'll have to read the book it's based on, but the movie itself had no flow and was just way too boring.
Well I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. For me A.I., Cookoo's Nest, and Signs are great storys and very decent films.

I guess we're not picking on the low grade films in this thread, just the blockbusters.

I couldn't get into any Harry Potter or LOTR films and could not finish watching them. Which I was surprised by because since I practically grew up at the cinema, I can sit through almost any film. My father took me to work with him every night and I have sat through some real bombs of the 70's and early 80's.

Recent films that sucked:

Crash
Batman Begins
The Amityville Horror (new version)
The Longest Yard (new version)
Fever Pitch (or almost any film with Drew Barrymore)
The Ring Two
Hitch
Be Cool
Boogeyman
Team America World Police (Had two funny parts but that's it.)
White Noise (interesting but stupid ending)
Kinsey
Assault on Precinct 13
Lemony Snicket's Unfortunate film. (Carrey at his absolute worst.)
Meet the Fockers
Ocean's Twelve (should not have been made, the Julia Roberts pretending to be Julia Roberts part was completely over the top and unentertaining.)

I could go on, but these are recent DVD releases that just stink IMO.

‘Grosse Pointe Blank’, a John Cusack film, is another one I didn’t like that everyone else seemed to just love. And it was disappointing because I am such a fan of his and had such high expectations, especially since I love dark-humor films. The film had some good moments, but I just thought it was all jumbled and inconsistent in it’s theme, and it had too many moments that were supposed to be funny that just came across as stupid or offensive.
