I got an email from Vlade Divac today

You can imagine my surprise when I checked my inbox for new emails and there it was from Vlade Divac. If you mention that you supported his basketball camp and make a reservation at l'image you get one entree free with at least 2 dining at dinner. I guess we know what he is doing with his free time, Ana is putting him to work...hehe

So basically in the course of 24 hours he's signed a long-term commitment with the Lakers AND has sent emails to Sacramento fans, touting his restaurants???

Hmmmmm...

Yeah,,,,me in my delusional state was picturing him sitting down at his pc and personally typing up an email for me....now how he got my email address was inconsequential....he must have remembered that crazy blond chasing him around camp...maybe my onery daughter slipped him my email.....just had to have a delusional moment you know...don't want to think I was mass emailed by a restaurant worker.

This really looks like bad timing, considering what's happened. Unless the email thanks you for your loyal support over the years and expresses Vlade's thanks one more time for the love the Kings fans gave him, I have to think someone in his PR office should have thought a little more before sending this out right now.

My take (remember, I'm still feeling a little jilted):

Hey, it's me - Vlade Divac. Yes, I did just sign a deal with the Lakers but it's just business right? I sure hope that doesn't mean you loyal Kings fans will forget about me and Ana. And, oh by the way? On a totally unrelated note, we're having a special at l'image. If you make a reservation now for 2 or more, you'll get one entree free.

GO Kin... er, never mind.

I took a marketing theory class once upon a time.

The instructor said that regardless of what you're trying to sell and who you're trying to sell it to, one of the biggest mistakes you can make is in the timing of your marketing plan.

Apparently whoever sent out these emails didn't take that course.
