I already feel better about the lack of trading...

Read this from Sports Yahoo. Kings get a B-?? The Hawks get an A?? We are 2-0, (Atlanta 0-2) since the Bibby trade. I know its only 2 games but i think we are going in a better direction. Keeping Artest atleast gives us some defensive presence. If your gonna win the West, you gotta play defense. I applaud Petrie for not trading down to get rid of Ron. Just my opinion...

ATLANTA HAWKS
What they gave up: Sheldon Williams, Anthony Johnson, Tyronn Lue, Lorenzen Wright, 2008 second-round pick.
What they got: Mike Bibby.

Analysis: Who knows how much Bibby has left in the tank, but the Hawks at least tried, which is more than they’ve done in the past. And they didn’t give up much to get him.
Grade: A.

SACRAMENTO KINGS
What they gave up: Mike Bibby.
What they got: Sheldon Williams, Anthony Johnson, Tyronn Lue, Lorenzen Wright, Hawks’ 2008 second-round pick.

Analysis: A few rivals think the Kings should have gotten more, but as one West GM said of Bibby: “This just shows how the mighty have fallen.” Kings GM Geoff Petrie cleared salary off the books and he’ll know what to do with the cap room when he gets it. The trade also frees up time for Beno Udrih, allowing Sacramento a better opportunity to evaluate how much it should invest in him this summer. Williams wasn’t worthy of the No. 5 pick Atlanta used on him, but his book hasn’t been completely written, either. As for keeping Ron Artest, the Kings didn’t cave for a lesser offer. If he opts out of his contract, they can always try to work a sign-and-trade deal for him.
Grade: B-.

Looks like the "A" for Atlanta is more of an "A" for effort, by his description, rather than an actual rating of how much difference it will make. ;)

I think everyone in the league is just astonished that the Hawks did anything. Their upper management is one of the most inactive in the league. You have to admit though for the Hawks that they:

1. Got an actual starting point guard.
2. They got their three point shooter that they've desperately needed (I can almost hear Josh Smith screaming that he counts from Atlanta).
3. They got a player that Joe Johnson is confident in

And it only cost them a non-starter and expiring contracts that they didn't need.

Bibby helps the Hawks immediately whereas the 4 the Kings got are fodder except for Shelden Williams and maybe Anthony Johnson. But 3 will likely disappear this summer so we got Shelden and a 2nd rounder for Bibby. Kings B- is gracious, Hawks A is right on, for now.
