How's that pick swap looking now? (split)

Koufas and bellinelli have been bad. Perhaps the media was right about the 76ers trade. If we lose our pick our future is very dim.

A pick swap means nothing when you're swapping with possibly the worst team in NBA history.

We're also bound to lose our pick thanks to the JJ Hickson so really factually this is probably 20% at best on the truthometer.
Unless you are the fifth worst team and jump ahead to get the first pick

To be real, it's actually more like this:

They get our lottery balls this year and next year (basically increasing the chance to hit the lottery), but that's not the real thing you are giving in the draft....

we give them our 2018 pick (top ten protected), but the somewhat dumb part on our end is that it becomes unprotected in 2019, which basically mean (aside from our inability to trade picks till 2021) that:

If we don't give our pick to Chicago this year (top 10 protected) OR if we fall in the protected range in 2018- than the 76ers get an automatic unprotected pick from us the year after Cousins contract expires... and that can get ugly.

The Sixers lost the first 18 games of the season.

The "pick swapping" was brilliant because it was a mirage. Not only is there no team worse than the Sixers, there is no team who WANTS to be worse than the Sixers. So I'm quite cheery about it -- you HOPE the Sixers will swap picks with you, because they'll be giving you a Top 4 pick.

Besides which this panic is silly. We'll win a decent amount of games this year. Decent enough to get into a playoff chase remains to be seen. Hopefully we have no scheduled games coming up in Nepal.

Cross-country runners train at altitude to increase their lung power. Wouldn't be a bad idea for an extreme running team to spend the off-season in Nepal. It's a bit late for that now though, obviously.

Sixers have the right to swap. We could still leapfrog them in the lottery, in which case we would be trading our top 3 pick for their 4th or lower pick. We're better off just giving the pick to Chicago this year than sweating through a possible lottery disaster. As if we needed any more motivation to to win games.

Koufas has been amazing imo. I can't think of a better back up center in the league. Belinelli has been so far unimpressive but that's because he isn't getting open shots with his feet planted. Curry does tho... makes me wonder why.

I'm not concerned about the pick swap. If they are worse than the Sixers then they deserve to swap picks. I would also disagree about KK. I think he's been a great addition

The pick is top 10 protected to Chicago in 16 or 17 before becoming a second. I'll break down some odds.

The Heat had the 10th last draft with a record of 37-45. (assuming this is about our peak right now)

The 7th pick was Denver 30-52 (about our bottom)

Finishing as the 7th worst team has about a 15% chance to land a top 3
8th 10%
9th & 10th 5%

Philly as the worst has a 64% chance of being in the top 3.

Even if you land a top 3 pick the 76ers have a good chance to themselves and it still possibly wouldn't matter.

So no I don't regret it.

Next season I'd expect about the same from Philly and us in an even better position.

That 2018 pick was cost of doing business. It's top 10 protected if we have a miracle in a draft. If we can't figure out how to be competitive by 2019 well I will of probably had a stroke anyways by 2019.

What have all these draft picks the last couple of seasons proven to us? It's a crap shoot and that you don't know who will pan out...the Kings unfortunately have been very unlucky with their last couple of selections and that has stopped them from becoming even a mediocre team IMO.

It's because most of Marco's shots come on actual plays for him, where he's running around off screens...and is expected to get a shot off if he has any room at all.

Curry gets his shots, randomly, within the flow of the game. He'll find an open spot on his own and set to shoot. No plays have been run for him. None of his shots are "forced" with someone all over him

It's crazy how poorly we use him. Often times it's the "Marco works his ass off trying to get open while everyone else stays in one place" play.

Our chances of getting Ben Simmons are zero. Ben Simmons will be the #1 overall pick in the draft, and if we win the lottery, Philly gets it. End of story.

Here is the scenario I can envision just because we are so snake-bitten as a franchise:

We finish this year at something horrible like 29-53. The 76ers finish 16-66. We "win" the NBA draft lottery. The 76ers drop to 4th. They swap picks with us. We draft a 6'5 "athletic" shooting guard who has a mediocre first 2 years before being shipped off to another team for spare parts. The 76ers draft Ben Simmons who becomes LeBron 2.0 and leads the 76ers to 4 championships before bolting and signing with the Lakers who then win another 3 championships.

We are the Sacramento Kings. Don't be surprised if this is what happens.

This is not what the kings need going into G1C a huge disaster that not only hurts our crappy franchise but the city in general. And yes maybe the national media and STOP were right?

We haven't won the NBA lottery in over 25 years, but with this teams luck I'm expecting this scenario.

I will be beyond devastated if we get the number 1 pick this year. Simmons is a once-in-a-generation type guy. He seriously looks like he might reach best player in the NBA status.

It would make Vlade's trade one of the worst in nba history. By far.

He'd never work in the nba again.

And the franchise would be the butt of jokes for the next 20 years while Simmons wins titles in philly.

This whole thing is making me feel sick. I've almost disengaged completely emotionally. I just have nothing left for this franchise.

The absolute worst case scenario is well underway.

It would be the absolute worst if Sauce turned into an All-Star. Fortunately he looks like a D-Leaguer.

So at least we have that. :)
