Last year was a train wreck for Murphy. He was injured. He got fat and ended up playing on a $200,000 minimum salary contract for the Boston Celtics. As a result he will be forced to accept a low salary contract and reduced role. I think that given the circumstances he would be content with that. His strengths are rebounding (multiple 10+RPG seasons) and the three point shot (0.389 career 3pt%) In two of the last three seasons he was a 14 and 10 big.
I imagine that he could play spot minutes at PF next to Jason Thompson (all of Darnell Jackson's old minutes), would spread the floor for Tyreke and would more or less be our Brian Cardinal/Brian Scalabrine. Let's face it. That's his fate.
Rotation I envision would look like this:
Dalembert / ........................... / Hassan
............../ Jason Thompson
Cousins..../ .................. / Murphy
He'll probably just sign with a contender tho.
