Kings and Mavs now tied for 4th in the Western Conference after Houston goes off for 124 points, shooting at or above 60% from the field for the game.

Supposed MVP candidate Dirk gets 28 points, but does nothing else (had 5 or 6 rebounds, I think) noteworthy. TMac goes for 30 points and 11 assists. Juwan Howard makes an appearance with 29 points.

Nice win by Houston. They looked tonight like the team they were supposed to be at the beginning of the year.

And a worthless dig at that...you won't hear me beating the "Peja for MVP" drum, but I would normally give Dirk strong consideration. If he's going to stop rebounding, though, he falls out of the race since he doesn't pass the ball particularly well (at least if the main measurement is assists) and he isn't known for playing particularly well on the defensive end of the floor.

Miles, do you notice the Mavs tonight are wearing "throwbacks" that never existed? The NBA website says tonight's unis are from 1988 (like the one Tarpley is wearing below).

However, they're wearing greens with the lettering from Tarpley's jersey and the numbering from Dirk's jersey. Those two styles never mixed. They did wear a green version of the Dirk jersey for a year in 1992, but again, not like the ones they're wearing tonight. Sure, no one cares but me, but it's strange that the NBA can't even be accurate.
