I hope that we can compete with Houston's energy; we know that the Comets aren't going to lay down, so it becomes a question of whether we can match their intensity.

Nice foul against Lyttle at the end of the first to make her get two at the line, and I especially liked that block after the whistle by Buescher to deny any possible continuation.

Nice transition layup by Maïga-ba at the end, too; I was afraid when I first saw it that she got away with a travel, but I replayed it three times in slow motion, and she only took one step with each foot after picking up the dribble. Actually, it was more like step, plant, shoot.

Well, that is Sacramento's game, after all... if I were a Comets fan, I'd be very concerned about the fact that their team is shooting fifty-six percent from the field and also has the advantage of having shot more free throws in this game (and for the series as well, unless I'm mistaken), but are trailing by ten at the half...

I am just watching the game for the first time in my life, cuz' I am in Canada right now.Monarchs rocks!

How about Yo Griffith's last score! Recovering yet another offensive rebound, this time off a block from Michelle Snow, to put it in... Griffith embodies what I love about basketball, and she never gives up on a play... ever.

Monarchs basketball was played from bell to bell, and the Comets had no answer; now we rest while we wait for the winner between the Storm and the Sparks.

Kingsgurl and I were in attendance at today's clincher, and all I can say is that we saw stellar play on both ends, and it was very fun to watch. While some Monarchs played better than others, I'm not sure I could say that ANY player had a bad game.

It was just a pure joy to watch these ladies put it to the Comets.

Oh, yeah, this makes our team 18-0 with 1kingzfan in the building over the last 2 years. :)

BTW, the Monarchs are 15-0 over the last 2 years with Kingsgurl at courtside.

What's that you ask?????

Yes, Kingsgurl, Lil Kingsgurl, and I will be at our first home game of the Western Conference Finals. Tickets already secured via T-Master. :D

Go Monarchs!!!!

Now that I've had some time to reflect, I have to admit being a little concerned, however. We don't typically win games with our offense, but we shot 51.7% for the series. If we're counting on that kind of production to win the championship, I hope we don't find ourselves disappointed. :(

Not to worry, Mr. Slim. Our Monarchs only allowed 64 pts to the Comets, and that was with them shooting 56% in the 1st half (as you mentioned earlier).

I was checking the stat sheet and I believe I found the 10 pt difference in the 1st half. While we shot 50%, it was 20 of 40 shots. The Comets, on the other hand, were being smothered on defense. They may have shot 56%, but our girls only allowed them 25 shots. Yep, we took 15 more shots from the field in the 1st half than they did, so even with a lower percentage (not by much), we outscored them. There's the 10 pt difference maker.

I don't think I'll be disappointed if the Monarchs don't shoot 50+% from the floor for however long they play in the postseason. I just know this team should never have been shooting below 30% EVER. There was just no reason for the slumping we saw this offense have throughout the regular season.

The game was FABULOUS, the energy in the arena was FABULOUS, the energy of the team was FABULOUS. I'm watching my TiVo replay of the game right now, waiting for the Brunson block. :) OMG, Whiz is hilarious mic'ed up. That Maiga-Ba shot was ridiculous when I saw it in arena, it's even better digitally.

A group of us went out to eat afterwards, and the Powell family and later Yo would join us. When the big screens showed highlights of the Sac/Hou game, the place went nutso. We finished eating and left, then found out that Edna Campbell and Dawn Staley were shopping at the Barnes and Noble nearby. Needless to say that we hauled @#@ over to B&N :) Gotta chance to talk to Dawn to say thank you for her career and to talk to her about her Temple team. I got an autograph and picture w/her (Thanks Luv13 for handlin' the camera). As highly decorated as she is, I have never encounted a person as gracious as she was. She was actually beyond gracious. ::aw, yeah...the Brunson block w/ 6 mins to go in the 3rd::

It was a very good day today......

Too Cool....sorry I missed the players! (Sweet) Well it was worth it, damn is that Shakira a sight to look at...hum did I mention she can sing!

Back to hoop talk...what a game, that was beautiful. I agree with MamaB. It would have nice to send Dawn out with a standing ovation. What did she have to say to you all? Well getting ready for this LA/STORM game...

Go Storm!!!

You know...I could call you out on this NBH, like you called out my ulterior motives behind tossing out Mimis to satisfy my affection for bread pudding...but you know..I'm just not that way...I'm above that ;)

Dawn was very very gracious. When I was talking with her about missing the opportunity for one final ovation, she just kept saying "thank you" and "that's alright" I got the impression she is shy about accepting compliments and accolades. I also got the impression she was fine with just walking off into the sunset. She was much more animated when I was talking about her upcoming Temple team and Candice Dupree.

Ha....I guess I'm busted MBF....''A sight to listen to...does that make sense!
I better stop before I get moderated for speaking about non basketball topics.
This may be a topic for the lounge?

Well at least you got to tell Dawn what the fans in SacTown were thinking.
Pretty darn cool. Gotta love being in the presense of these gifted atheletes.
